Leaves visiting for Dinner

So it begins.

I know August isn't actually the start to fall, but it is the time of year here where about mid way through the month you start seeing more little bunches of yellow leaves sporadically dispersed amongst the trees.  The 'preview' to what is tome come.

The first picture of the 'fall stretch' goes to Pan.  I haven't said much about her over the years, but she's been around.  She gets her nickname from the pan-flutes she plays, and because her heart seems to be forever lost in the feywild and fanciful stories of far away places.  She's not a bad dancer either.

A few leaves, just as they are here, drift down to join her at dinner outside of the storyhouse silent observers, tired travelers looking for rest, they happily sit and provide their vibrant companionship.

I've learned a bit more complex shapes and even picked up some modeling, though to no degree is any of it more than just 'this shape is enough to look like a barrel' without any texturing or extra, but it provides some comparative scale and space which helps.

As long as they don't get in her food and drink, they are most welcome to visit. She's happy to hum them little songs between bites. :)

I admit, I wouldn't mind being out in one of those quite towns now myself. I think it's why I keep drawing scenes like this, I'd love the calm and peace that comes with the territory. It doesn't hurt that it also comes with good snacks and friendly equine people, not that I'm biased or anything ;)

Gahhh....to be able to have two days and a night to stroll through one of your towns...

A charming Neigh nomming on a handmeal. Yes, I'd like to learn more of 'Pan' and her stories. Perhaps they will hold her leafy audience spellbound, or at least stay them in their travels for a few minutes before they blow along to their next visit.
