Smatterings of natterings.
Added 2021-06-04 19:42:56 +0000 UTCI've been thinking over the last couple of days of starting to add written posts here detailing things about the world that the characters live in, as well as some information on the characters themselves.
Part of my thinking here was due to my almost losing about 25-ish years of notes on the world. Admittedly that was fairly heartbreaking as a feeling, and having a space to add these odd musings and histories too would help out.
Another part is due to my memory failing a little more as time goes on. I've forgotten names, places, dates and pretty much anything you can think of forgetting, I've forgotten in bits and pieces. My drive data is corrupted, so this would be the forum to 'blog' about parts of the world I've burned so much of my life into creating.
The larger part is simply that despite having bouts where I can't seem to create much for it, I do care about the world. I realize that I honestly don't say much about the place. Some things in my past has caused me to be pretty closed when it comes to explaining things about what I create. It has been an incredibly hard habit to break.
I'm not too sure of the format this would take. There might be art along with these posts since I've got all kinds of sketches littering notebooks and scraps of paper along with some digital rough scribbles. Figuring out what to start on.. or who.. or where? I'm still figuring that out. I don't know how formal it will be, or if will be a more stream of consciousness thing.
I still have to strip a lot of 'game' elements out of the world. The relative constitution of some git who drives a wagon is unlikely to be all that interesting, but the remaining story would be worthwhile I think.
I'm not much of a writer. I'm more a visual person. I can usually get a point across in an efficient manner, which I'm hoping serves this little branch of the Patreon. I'll try not to let things spin into anything too unwieldy, and keep things bite-sized.
This will be something I can do in evenings at the laptops, or days where I'm just exhausted as work ramped up a bit. It won't take away from the art aspect at all, since it's done during wind-down time.

Its largely just figuring out which little dot on the map to go with. Some things are written out fully, others are just scattered ideas, and still others are being written still (Whenever I can stamp out the depression monster I've been getting gnawed by). And I utterly understand. I'll often go back to old ideas and wonder how the hell I even came up with them. These days my brain's wheels are all rusty or have fallen off completely :D

2021-06-04 21:54:01 +0000 UTCI'll have to look more into World Anvil. I've only peeked at it initially and from what I remember a lot was locked behind a subscription, but that was ages ago.

2021-06-04 21:53:10 +0000 UTCStart anywhere. Nobody is going to stand over you with an axe telling you to go back to the beginning and start over -- it's your world, let it flow. I need to get back to chronicling my own world. It has been almost a year since I posted any stories. My memory is rusty; I read my old work and marvel at the details. Got to fix that.

2021-06-04 20:44:38 +0000 UTCWorld Anvil is another alternative for laying out your world, linking articles and all of that. It is your call. I'm happy to read what you post.
2021-06-04 19:54:26 +0000 UTCSounds cool to me :)

2021-06-04 19:53:07 +0000 UTCPut it where you will. Go to Fandom https://www.fandom.com/ and start a wiki on your world. (Back it up.) I have been writing all I can remember of my ancient D&D game.
