Hey all!

Just wanted to give a heads up about an e-mail I received from Patreon this month about their switching to an international payment processor.

They've switched to a UK processor to ensure creators of more adult content are able to process payments (there was some kind of thing going on where US based banks were apparently getting up in arms about such things).

This said, I was informed that there might be a 3% international processing fee on payments depending on the bank. This is outside of Patreon's ability to forecast as every bank will be different and every plan will be different. But I did want to let people know so there isn't a mystery 'percent' for Patreon.

I admit, I give Patreon points for helping out creators of all sorts, I just wish they were a little better at communicating certain things earlier than right before the turn of the month. I'd rather have given people a heads-up well before this, but I only know what I'm told.

Generally the fee would equal up to pennies, but I know how tight finances can be, and nobody likes even small discrepancies showing up on a statement.

As far as I know, they will be working with people who get a declined payment as well, and have asked people to reach out to them in turn if anything goes wrong. Outside of that, as far as I'm aware, that's all the news I can give, and nothing else (for now) is changing.
