Blackpine - map sketch.
Added 2018-05-30 21:51:16 +0000 UTCBit stressed out this week. I had this (and a few other) map sitting around from a game that fell through and started finishing the sketch of it.
Blackpine was an abandoned town surrounding the Auld Andormira academy and library. A place of legend, with vaults of books.
I still find maps weirdly relaxing to do.

I only recall a few bits of the story behind the place. The academy was infiltrated by the cult dedicated to Mephistopheles, the head of the arcane turned into a traitor that triggered a catastrophic event at a place called Whiterook that cascaded though a large swathe of the lands, including Blackpine. The resulting years those who didn't flee the place became cursed, turned into 'vessels' (undead) and the town itself started to crumble. Much of it was protected by wards of some description, which is why some of it still stands after hundreds of years. There's more to the town that kind of bleeds off the edges of the page, but those areas are basically overtaken by nature and little more than a few stones or depressions in the snow/earth.
