Back after a short (but unplanned) hiatus.

Wanted to post a brief update since it's been a little while since the last painting was posted.

I had an 'update' on Windows 10 that seemed to set off a chain reaction of bizarre behavior on my work machine.  I had everything from my framerates dropping to a slide-show when working in Sketchup (A simplified 3D building program), to my tablet's drivers getting forced out and replaced with what I could only imagine was a 'good idea' from Microsoft.

It got bad enough at one point that I imagined I had some kind of spyware worm its way onto my workstation (I keep it very tidy and secure, though).  In the end I had to turn off between 20 and 30 'helpful apps' that were installed and turned on without my consent or knowledge, create half a dozen registry keys to keep these things disabled, and after about 3 or 4 days finally had a machine I could work on again.

The biggest two things that really wrecked my ability to work was something called 'X-Box DVR', an 'always on' recording device for gamers that utterly eats CPU on older generation i7/i5/i3 machines, that had me completely unable to work with Sketchup or any 3D modelling application, as well as games I'm told.

The second was this weird thing that seemed to shut off my Wacom drivers, and then proceed to advertise to me about all the wonderful things from Microsoft that uses it's 'Windows Ink' software.  Given the song and band that went along with it, its features on my machine included: Not being able to right click with a pen on my tablet unless I was moving the stylus.  Not being able to double-click with the pen at all.  Pressure sensitivity that made it feel like trying to drag a brick with a drunken Santa Clause tied to it across a tile floor covered in spiders and granite.  An eraser that was stuck on '1 pixel', and its magic, sparkly circle and water ripple flying unicorn graphics that made precise detail work a nightmare.  It also seemed to punch my Wacom drivers in the teeth when I tried to re-install them.

So that's the fun tale of why I'm behind by a week in getting sketches posted for upcoming stuff.  I'm hoping to get some stuff up by Sunday or Monday though.  Most of it is rough sketchwork and just fun doodles until I start the next painting.

But wow.. Ain't technology grand?  I might go back to painting on the walls if all of these 'tech advances' keep appearing on my workstation.

Cheers all, and sorry again for the delay.

I know I am late to the party, but you might want to disable Windows 10 update service so it does not shove its crap down your throat. I use Windows 7, but on my guest computer, I shut it all down, including that twat Cortana and all of the XBox garbage that thinks it's doing you a favor.

Hoping for Monday! So far the machine seems to not have any more surprises for me (probably until the next update when more is added and all the stuff I disabled is magically turned on again). But for now I'm just happy I can use the tablet again.

Its one reason I wish I could. Sadly some of the stuff I use isn't fully supported by Linux without a lot of work-arounds, and it's had problems with one of the wireless printers I have here. But I'd love to have an OS that wasn't just a platform for bloatware apps to get forced upon me :/

Your particular way of describing things is still wonderful in spite of everything :P Looking forward to what you post next!

And all pf that is why I use Linux.
