Another update!

This time around it's the tonal drawing for the upcoming Ghost Walk painting.  This was mainly my attempts at figuring out general lighting.  I'm trying to get used to applying more cast shadows in my work, such as with the tree in the foreground in this one falling across not only the main subject but a bit of the house as well.

The shading/hi-lites are still incredibly basic.  I try not to get into detailed textures until later on in the process, sometimes not until the post effects stages.

The file for the 300dpi is rather large.. I think it clocks in at 10mb or so.  This is due to the actual picture dimensions coming in at about 20 inches by 30 inches.  I'm trying to break away from staying only at 11 x 17 inches, which is a relic of my days past doing illustration on paper.  Since this won't be set out as a print of any sort I don't have to restrict my sizing for standard papers anymore.  Not all images will be this massive in the future, but I wanted to see if I could do something a little larger in size.

As always, links will be posted via message.

I've been thinking of a format that would keep as much of the file intact as possible. Personally I'd like to give out the image as a .tiff file (which while large is lossless). The down side is that you need special viewers for .tiff files. PSD files are right out since viewing those requires Photoshop. PNG would probably make the image in question 50MB or even higher. I have certain upload limits through my ISP per month, and moreso I worry that a file that big wouldn't be good to have on the servers that host me, especially with a lot of people trying to download the file. I'm still trying to figure out a good medium though. I'd love to host the images here but have had my account scraped every month by 'bots' so it's sadly not a solution either :(

Well, to be honest, I would rather have a great looking 10+mb file, than a smaller artifact infected JPG file. PNG would be preferred because its 2016, not 1996. :)
