Hey again, folks.
The next painting is finally done. This time around it's for the cover of the 'Tides of Nautu'loa' comic, featuring Kahela (the one about to pokk someone with a coconut) and Nalahi (Surprised that Kahela is about to pokk someone with a coconut).
This image actually wasn't supposed to turn into a full painting. I was planning on making it in the same comic style of the interior art but while I was researching covers for comics I read a lot of advice that essentially boiled down to "Don't just throw a cover out there. It's the face of your work, make it look good". So I got a bit carried away and turned it into a painted style.
This was another huge learning experience in that I had to come up with some sort of logo that had the right vibe, yet was still licensed to use for this sort of work. It meant learning a program that I find frustrating - in that I'm so used to regular paint programs that design programs throw me for a loop. I've poured through so many covers that it all became a blur too, and I ended up going with a fairly simple style, without any trade monikers since this book won't be in print.
I also came to realize just how much of this books first images are night-time images. Admittedly it's due to the story elements and when they take place, but I can promise there will be brighter colours soon.
Links will have been sent out soon! Thanks again, folks.
