Weekly Update - Number 6

A sort of mash up picture-post and weekly update.

This is a rough preview of the first picture of Cinders in her draconic form, listening to a renown traveler tell stories.

I've never cared for dragons simply depicted as 'things to hit until they kill you, or you get all of their loot'.  They are often portrayed as apparently brilliant but complete idiots at the same time.  The height of mortal life, but living in a cave on top of piles of money with a more bestial flavour than I cared for.

Thus the dragons of Felwroth are different in that respect.  The truly and utterly suicidal indeed will hunt them, but the dragon-hunters tend to be turned away at most towns and cities, if not outright attacked for possibly bringing down a retalitory storm on an entire area.

Dragons are part of a council on Felwroth.  Even ones of an evil nature find solace to speak their piece at the draconic council, and often matters that are of importance to them are handled in as much a democratic way as possible.  Rarely dragons will take the law into their own hands, usually leading to the council moving to stop such an attempt, or indeed hunting them down to eliminate them (The only time they'll use specialized assassins).

They also very rarely live in caves.  Those that do tend to want peace away from anyone else, or have religious or spiritual reasons to.  They certainly don't leave piles of money and plundered loot laying on floors, being brilliant enough to construct grand vaults and devious traps to sway most sane raiders.  Many keep homes that are secret, or difficult to get to.  Much like a mortal will want to build in a place were pests won't bother them, dragons sometimes do the same.

I mainly wanted to consider them as sentient beings.  Powerful ones, yes, but not just psychotic beasts with terrifying stats.

Updates!

Second page of the comic is under way, as well as some work I'm doing for an RPG as well.  I'm slightly ahead of schedule this time around, and with any hope next month I'll finally be fully caught up.  It still means September at the earliest that I'll be able to take private commissions again.

But with that, there's not much more to report.  There will be comic roughs periodically posted, and I'm working on some map-work to show at least the landmasses of Felwroth itself.  The difficult bit will be to label things from memory again.

...this poor, spotted, wheezing memory.

Until then, have a good weekend folks!

It's a story I need to post at some point (It's a looong story). She's got a bloodline that includes the goddess who sacrificed herself for the world aeons ago, who herself was draconic. She spent a lot of her early days being shunned as some kind of half-demonic creature given that Lorrnath don't normally have horns or see ghosts of the past. And Indeed, dragons are a culture of their own. They have their own traditions, beliefs, and and faults. Some are great leaders, while others are misanthropic and plotting. It all depends on the dragon :)

Yep! She's got draconic blood in her :)

That explains the horns.
