Should I just start releasing it now??

The plan was to finish all of Toph Heavy Part 3, delete everything here, post it to gumroad, and then post a page publicly once a week to sort of entice people into the gumroad purchase. I'm not sure if it makes sense to do that anymore.

For starters, my goal is to keep this Patreon afloat so I can continue with Part 4, and all of the other stuff I want to do. Keeping it exclusively on Patreon, for the time being, could be hurting that goal. By not consistently posting and showing that "YES I AM WORKING ON THIS" people are starting to forget... to lose hype. We all know how algorithms go, and it feels like if I wait any longer, this project will be forgotten and the immense effort will be for nothing.

Secondly, this coloring, while a lot better and totally worth it, does take some time. At 108 pages it could be another year before it's complete. That would just compound the problem. Gumroad would have to sell 1000 copies to justify it. Parts 1 and 2 only sold 250 copies.

Finally, I may have to do other things, commissions, odd jobs, part time jobs, etc. to make ends meet and trying to do that with a once-a-week schedule would make doing those things easier.

Part of me feels like I'm letting people down, and I'm very sorry about that. But I am very tired and I make rash/emotional decisions when I'm tired. I'm going to sleep on it and leave you guys with a poll to hopefully give me some guidance when I wake up.

What are your thoughts?

You're doing great. Release weekly. I actually got directed to this Patreon from seeing a part 2 leak and wanting to support. I think it may also draw in more patrons - in addition to the Gumroad purchases. Either way, you're doing great work.

Do a censorship

As long as you're not taking away anything then it should be fine. Getting content at a steady pace will be fine and those that wish to pay more to support you can do so and get pages as they are finished. I sell chapters of my comics that range from 10-16 pages each for $5 and bundle all chapters as they are finished for an overall discount. Breaking up part 3 into chapters would be better for you and you don't have to sell the whole thing for a lower price and people can get parts of it sooner rather than waiting for it all to be done. And then when it's done you can sell the whole thing for one price. It gives everyone options and you won't have to compromise what you value your comic at.

If you post weekly it will generate interest and support. Keeps us hoping for more to see. I plan on being on this Patreon for as long as there is Toph content. Also in your comments on Twitter, I mentioned that I would love to see your take on Dr. Ann Possible.

edited? In what way? I'd probably only lower the resolution for public release.

If I can generate interest and support by posting regularly instead of all at once, then there will be a Part 4. Edit: Or maybe, it's a better idea to hold off and wait until everythings done, and hope for the best.

MG

Couple of questions. Do you think it would be a fair or a good idea to separate what pages are available by tier? Do you think I should separate Part 3 into chapters and make them available on Gumroad?

MG

see, that's what I'm thinking. I don't want twitter to be dead by the time I start releasing.

MG

I would release a weekly edited version

I think an approach similar to this is probably best for MG. Make sure there's a large enough buffer that it feels like you're still getting something for a Patreon subscription (one month-ish, possibly more, between Patreon and public posting, or 'there are always at least ten Patreon-exclusive pages until it's complete,' or something like that), but put out enough content to let people know stuff is still coming down the pipeline. I think the best way to advertise to potential new Patrons is to constantly advertise what they'd be getting if they support you.

So let me understand if you keep this Patreon and a weekly page, there will be a Part 4? Because if so I'm down with waiting patiently week by until it's finished. Did that with last issue and have done with many comics and fsbfivs

What I do is have a buffer and release a comic page every week and let people know that more pages are available for the $10 tier and it works. And then I package the entire chapter when it's complete and available for those patrons and put it up on Gumroad for those that don't want to pledge.

More hype, more better. Might as well get mileage out of twitter while it's still afloat.
