Toph Heavy Part 3 - Page 13 - Final
Added 2022-11-07 08:34:58 +0000 UTCI did 90% of the work on this page a few months ago. Today, it was just a matter of cleaning up the rendering. I thought about adding more detail to the ship. However, I redrew that ship months ago, and I know that trying to add more detail would be either an aesthetic blunder or extremely time-consuming. For now, it works, and I'm happy with the parts I need to be happy with. If I reach the end of the comic and feel like I have enough energy to add more, I will.
Also, this dialog in this page represents me subtracting about 15 - 20 pages from the comic. Originally my plan was for her to go to Ba Sing Se. She'd meet a Dai Li and the Dai Li would be her old friend Ohev. Ohev is a canonical (I think) love interest from the comic. She'd wind up working with him, and discover that she had a taste for police work all while having a couple of H-related encounters. One of those encounters involved an undercover sting with some swamp benders. I even conceptualized the look of swampbender toph last year for that reason. The other involved Ohev. And the last one is a hypnosis scene that I repurposed into a later part of the comic. I thought about adding that section in as a flashback later on, but I honestly don't want to do any more flashbacks in this comic. I may draw those pages as a small add-on story one day, and may even insert them as an "extended edition."
I cut the section out early on because not only was it a bunch of additional work, including pages I didn't really have passion for, but also because I know people want to get back to Azula.
