The future of Toph Heavy and this Patreon.

Hi there. This is going to be a long post about the future of Toph Heavy, the future of this Patreon, and how Student Loan Forgiveness is going to affect both.

I was initially just going to say "Big changes on the horizon thanks to Loan Forgiveness" but I am afraid that could be taken the wrong way. Some may think "Oh now that his loans are forgiven, he's not going to finish Toph Heavy, is that it?!" I don't want to be ambiguous even though I am paranoid about being specific.

The reason why I'm hesitant to go into detail is that I don't want to jinx anything. All of my loans are federal. I had many pell grants. I am technically under the poverty line. Yet despite all of these facts, I am still skeptical of anything getting any relief even now. I get nervous when things go right and generally expect to get screwed. Let me put it this way, the federal interest is so nuts that despite paying the most I could for the past 10 years, at the start of the pandemic I owed more than the initial loan. That's the kind of bullshit I am used to. But, for a moment, let's be optimistic and talk about what will happen under the assumption that I qualify for Student Loan Forgiveness.

Broadly speaking this relief will guarantee that there is a Toph Heavy Part 4 and an Epilogue. It will also guarantee more comics with different characters. I have ideas for characters like Baiken from Guilty Gear Strive and Kei from Dirty Pair Flash. I even have ideas for comics based on my original character BB Kildare.

Note: please pardon the quality of these images. I haven't drawn this character since 2009 and my skill/style was way different then. This is a character I've wanted to return to and draw lewds of for a long while but haven't had the courage to because I wasn't sure anyone would care.

As things became more and more financially difficult around my household, the added pressure of Student Loans made it so that unless Toph Heavy Part 3 sold 4x the amount Part 1+2 sold on Gumroad, then I was going to have to quit making art. I was dreading that. That dread affected how long it has taken to make Toph Heavy Part 3. Look, to be frank, I want to make cool things, and so I'll naturally try to fix things I see wrong. However, that has been taken to an extreme on this project because I would think "if this isn't perfect, I can't continue."  I would also think "this may be the last thing I do, so I have to leave on a high note." That's why Toph Heavy Part 3 is so long. That's why I keep redrawing pages. Now... I can potentially relax.

When it comes to what will specifically happen. A couple of things. First, the last page (which hasn't been drawn yet) could be changed. Initially, the plan was to have this final page be her giving birth. That would be an "OK, if this is the last of Toph Heavy, at least there's an end." Now, it will probably be an image of Toph screaming to the sky "AZULAAA!" as the ground cracks around her forming the names of those who supported at the 10.00 level. AND THEN starting in Part 4 I can pick up with her and Zuko at the palace. I could even reintroduce Azula. There could even be some pregnant Toph stuff (although, it's not my fetish and I don't know how good the drawings would be)  And that section would finish with the birth of Lin and move on to the conception of Suyin, and the reveal of what this is all actually about.

Second, I'll relax my anus when it comes to releasing pages. Instead of worrying about piracy, and potential sales on gumroad, I'll just release stuff as I finish it. You guys will get it first, as always, and everyone else will get stuff between a week and a month later. 

Look, I don't know how you feel about the President, but if you like my work, the president just guaranteed way more of it.  ( Assuming it all shakes out as promised at least)
