I realize this comment is very late, but as someone on the inside at Tubi I can tell you that they likely did not pay anything up front and he'll only get paid for the time people actually watched.

2025-01-02 03:31:11 +0000 UTCI grew up in Bell Gardens, home of the dearly departed dinosaur-themed car wash down the street from my home on Gage Avenue. The Commerce Casino is right by Bell Gardens and it is an eyesore. I went there once with a friend who was going to get his paycheck when he worked there and, my god, what a sad and miserable place. Not to mention the smell which was as if the carpet hadn’t been washed since they got rid of smoking. Thank God the Citadel is out there holding Commerce down. The Bicycle Casino is much more appealing by a country mile and also looks like a giant Sephora bag compared to the lifelessness of the Commerce Casino.

Fun fact, when MTV came to Canada, because of our weird government-imposed cable television regulations, over 50% of the content had to be Canadian-produced talk shows. To get around this, they had Jessi and pre-Schitt's Creek Dan Levy hosted "The Aftershow," a panel show that would play after episodes of The Hills. People loved it so much it ended up airing on American MTV as well.

Alf is a commentator, weird Marvel float with a musical performance, NKOTB sing about the cheeeeeeeldren... Loony Tunes musical number with Horrifying Willard Scott Porky Pig impression... life is too short to miss this. I think you'll like it a lot more than Downward Spiral Jamie Kennedy.

He said it was a Murphy’s Law of a show because nothing was rehearsed. He runs Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, produced Wrestling Society X for MTV, and now he’s the Executive Producer for MLW. He trained me when he was producing NWA Pro East, an attempt at a National Wrestling Alliance territory out of the NY/NJ area. I was a PA for those shows and occasionally an interviewer and segment producer for promos. David was an awesome producer and very professional. The crew he was forced to work with on that NYE show was not.

2025-01-01 17:12:17 +0000 UTCI've been to that hotel in the Poconos but I didn't stay in the room with the giant wine glass because it was crazy expensive. Even the normal room I stayed in with a heart-shaped hot tub was very expensive. The rooms are disgusting because the tub is surrounded by carpeting and even the walls are carpeted. I'm sure they are full of mold. I thought it would be cool and retro but it's just really depressing. The rooms do have real fireplaces but you have to burn the fake wood that doesn't actually give off heat.

There's also a wrestling connection with this since Championship Wrestling from Hollywood was airing on the same channel. Stu Stone would do occasional commentary there and the owner of CWFH also directed this special. On a bummer note, my new years resolution of tuning out political talk/discussion has already been broken 90 minutes into the new year
