Shale Hill Secrets | Episode 4 released to $10+ patrons!

Hello everyone!

We’re pleased to tell you that Shale Hill Secrets - Episode 4 is here!

This one took a while to polish, but once you play it you’ll see why: it’s huge! Again, there is a lot of information to digest in this release, so take your time and read carefully. Most of the events in this episode can be played in any order you want. Aside from this, there are two sex scenes for you to discover, both including more images (+animations) than a generic episode of DFD/DH! Both of these scenes are optional meaning you are not forced to play them.

Instead of Episode 5, the next release will be Episode 4 “Part 2” - this will enable us to expand on it and add more events and sex scenes. Please do not panic, both parts are still full releases in terms of content size. This move will just help the story flow more smoothly when cut down into episodes.

Release Information

- The whole text rendering framework was changed, meaning text should now be clearer on any screen resolution.

- The change in the text rendering framework was a step forward to have translations. We still have a few UI adjustments to do, but they'll come soon.

- Minor optimizations and bug fixes.

- [F12]: Remember this key copies the current line to the system clipboard (useful to report typos or use translators)

- We understand that people have different reading rhythms, but our suggestion is to enjoy the game without rushing. We aimed to have around 3 hours of gameplay in this launch. Enjoy =).

Important: We are aware of some data progress bugs in the latest release (0.3.5). If you feel like you have been affected by this, please replay from EP1 (skip is your best friend, make sure to go to gameplay settings and max out the skip/transition speeds) and everything should be fine.

Install Instructions

IMPORTANT: Do not play previous builds (0.1.x, 0.2.x etc). Always play the latest build available (it contains all the episodes). Since we are constantly improving the engine, executing a previous build after you've ran a newer one could corrupt your progress.

The file is hosted on itch since their download speeds are better.
You don't need to create an itch account. Just click "Connect with Patreon" > "Allow" > "Download". If you have cancelled your pledge, Itch may not allow you to access the downloads. Please re-enable your pledge (you won't be charged again) to download the files. Then you can cancel it afterwards.

Windows

Download the file, extract the zipped file to a location of your choice and then run the Shale Hill Secrets executable. The game should open straight away after this. Do not try to run the executable without unzipping it first or you’ll get an error message! Do not mix the new files with previous releases! This release contains all the episodes.

macOS

Double click Install Shale Hill Secrets v0.4.3.dmg. Then, in the window that opens, drag and drop the SHS app to the Applications folder shortcut. Then, in Finder, go to Applications and run the game from there.

If the DMG file doesn't open, this means Gatekeeper could have quarantined it. It can be fixed by running this command in Terminal:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine $HOME/Downloads/Install\ Shale\ Hill\ Secrets\ v0.4.3.dmg

Android

Your device needs to be able to install APKs outside of the Play Store. If it isn't, you need to enable that option first. 

After downloading the file, open the APK and select "update". Don't uninstall the previous version or you could lost your progress.
