July 2023 DTNS Briefing

Hey folks,

Look, I'm not going to lie to you. I knew the Molly goal was a stretch. But a huge thanks to every single one of you who pitched in to make it happen. We'll keep pushing for it. And the more we get the more often we can have Molly on.

But there's lots of other stuff in the works too! We bought the Amazon Astro robot and I'm in the middle of testing it. And by testing it, I mean seeing if there's any way I can use it without scaring my dog to death. Once I'm done, Roger, Sarah, Joe and Amos will have a crack at it as well. You can see the first couple of videos about it at youtube.com/dailytechnewsshow.

I've also got the Pixel Fold and will be relaying my impressions of it on GDI regularly. Don't be afraid to ask questions about it if you have any!

Experiment Week is coming back! The week that launched The Tech Jawn and BBQ and Tech will take place August 14th. And I think I might try an experiment of my own this year as well. If you're new, Experiment Week is when we take on week in August, a notoriously slow news month and hand over the DTNS feed to folks to try out new tech show ideas. It's always fun.

And just a distant heads up, I'm heading to Korea the first week of September. Any Korean listeners? Would love to have a meetup! I'll be in Seoul for most of the trip and Busan for a longish weekend.

Off to turn on Astro and see what happens.

Cheers,

Tom

REVIEW US PLEASE!

Even if you don’t use Apple for podcasts, reviewing us is one of the biggest things you can do to help us get new listeners. You can review Daily Tech News Show every 6 months or so in Apple podcasts. And reviews on any platform help! All of you should do this right now! (Unless you just did it) If all of you reviewed us this month we'd shoot up the charts, and more folks would discover us! That means you would have more people to chat with about tech.

Email us. It’s not something we’re prepared to open up on yet but let’s talk.

Daily Tech News Show

Are you open to pitches from supporters for new shows? Mine would probably be either privacy or Web3/cryptocurrency focused. If it’s crypto-focused, it would NOT contain any price discussions; it would be about the technology, relevant legislation, etc.
