The name will start getting significance in later episodes and you are just supposed to know the name by now. Also yes u might have already noticed how there is less censorship now as compared to OG plus it is like a season thing now similar to small Netflix seasons of 13 episodes so yes the pace is a lot better and a lot more focused, story driven. "Naruto" and "One Piece" anime are just as censored, the small things that were padded out or cut from the manga did not change the characters, and Ichigo/Rukia did not "seem like endgame". Just like Naruto/Sakura, fans shipped them and wished they were endgame, while knowing they weren't canon. They did this from the beginning of the manga, and thus were given some fan service in the anime, but Orihime is the same character, and her relationship with Ichigo is the same.

Compared to the manga if the anime was standalone id argue it's still far better than Naruto and One piece. Regarding censorship and such, to add on to your point, the og Yugioh is the best example i can think of when it comes to censoring a bunch of religious and philosophical symbols and such (just because i fuck with Yugioh heavy lol, ever since i was a kid). Yugioh cards had a lot of that, so they changed them when they came to the West, both in the anime and the card game proper. Spellbinding Circle is a good example of this lol. Monster Reborn is another one. And so on.

#SundayRundown #Bleach I am curiohs how the dub will pronouce Yhwach, the manga translation was a nightmare with fans translation spelling it Yuhabach as it is pronouced that way but spelt Yhwach. The japanese pronouce his name Yu-Ha-Ba-Ha Bleach is available on Disney Plus and Disney had bought the streaming rights for the franchise. Likely due to the investment, the anime just had a way larger budget (not sure if this is true) but it would make sense as the show is formated more like a movie in terms of sound, censorship and composition of the scenes, than a TV anime production. Example, when Sasakibi was shot into the wall, you will notice his left hand was missing, typically they would censor and tone down dismemberment as well as the amount of blood shown on screen. Also, Ebern's dub voice was very off putting but he was indeed an Arrancar and in Tite Kubo's Klub Outside Q&A website, he does confirm a fan theory and that the quincy cross he had on him had giving him quincy powers. If and when you do watch Burn the Witch, i would like to see what you guys think about the wider world of Bleach, i am often wondering if the Quincy originated from Europe and migrated to Japan, i think the world expansion in Burn the Witch does open the doors for a very expansive world and does change your world view on Bleach. It just seems odd that the Quincy's being german and European would end up in Japan

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN Bleach Damn if there’s one thing bleach does right it’s the spectacle, you have no idea how it felt after all these years to come back and see they really gave a damn about the animation. It’s just the requisite intro to the arc showing what our main cast can do as a reminder but they put their whole pussy into the animation, it’s a visual feast right off the bat and it’s only up from here! It’s barely been any time in the show but it really felt like it’s been years, like they’ve spent that time getting better. It was just against scrub hollow but it still feels good seeing them pop off. Also I knew it was coming but orihimes milk missiles still caught me off guard, they’re each twice as big as her head!

That Squad 13 3rd Seat, whose name I can never remember, mentions her sister at one point during the Soul Society arc, but its very brief. They interact more in the filler, so fans watching week-to-week were aware at least. 😛 I forgot chain-hair-girl (in this arc we can call her 2-chains) was related to Mashiro! This whole unacknowledged family thing IS pretty funny. Kubo even does it with...well...😏

This was not "all confirmed by Kubo himself". English anime forum users take stories of the troubles Kubo had with Shueisha, as well as translations of certain interviews in which he decried interactions with toxic fans, and formulate a narrative around that stating Kubo hated the anime and that Noriyuki Abe made people ship Ichigo and Rukia. Nether of these are true. The lie about the anime creating Ichiruki is especially annoying to hear for those of us who've been on that ship from the beginning; as millions of readers were when the manga was first published. The fact is, romance was never prioritized in this story (as with most shonen), Rukia was always an extremely popular character (top 3 in every character poll), and Orihime was always on the sidelines. This easily lead to fans shipping Ichigo and Rukia long before the anime was made. Some of those shippers got on the anime team, and the most significant thing they did was add in that ice-skating moment between Ichigo and Rukia, but that wasn't to make people ship the two of them. Rather, like the Hisagi x Matsumoto filler episode that Kubo wrote himself, it was fan-service for those who already shipped those characters. Other than that, there were little character things in the anime that were cut from the manga, and others that were anime only...for both Rukia AND Orihime. Go back and read the manga, and you'll find moments that fans latched onto as Ichiruki bait that aren't in the anime, as well as moments one could call Ichihime that are anime-only; and visa-versa. As for the Getsuga, I'm well aware that it was always supposed to be yellow. I'm saying I prefer the blue despite that, because I think it fits better with the overall aesthetic, as well as being appropriate for...what we find out in this first cour.

Oh man, that's deeper knowledge than I have, but it sounds right. So much japanese media from the 80's, 90's and 00's are a blend of super niche sects of western religions, mythology, and German philosophy and psychology. I'd say the best example of this is Tetsuya Takahashi's Xeno series and the Perfect Works narrative. A great example in anime is, of course, Neon Genesis Evangelion. And SOOOOOOO much of it had to be censored in the US. "Oh, that translates to The Church? Uhhhh, yeah let's just call it something else..." Localization people having to navigate censorship so as to not get an M rating on their media deserve a special kind of praise.

#Sunday Rundown We're finally here - TYBW!!! Fun fact, Shino is Ikkaku's little sister lol, this isn't plot relevant or anything, and is never really mentioned at all. Actually, Kubo really likes creating siblings who don't ever interact with each other, for example, Mashiro (the green haired Vizard) has a sister in Mayuri's R&D Squad (she's the girl with chains on her hair, she's mostly a background character, so if you notice her, well done lol), also the Vice Captain of Squad 4 Isane and one of the the 13th Squad's Co 3rd Seats (the two who are always attending to Ukitake), Kiyone, are also sisters lol. And none of this is ever really mentioned, you just put it together through their last names. Re - Ikkaku's voice, he was voiced by Vic Mignonga, who got shelved due to to some controversy (some sexual harassment stuff iirc, yikes) so he's replaced by Shishigawara's voice actor. Vic also voiced Ed from FMA and Broly from DB (funny enough, Johnny Yong Bosch has now taken over the role of Broly lol). Lastly - Sasakibe (Yama's Vice Captain) tries to tell Yama that they can steal Bankai, which means he must have seen it in action. Did he have a Bankai despite being a Vice Captain? Or did he see it used on someone else who has a Bankai? Food for thought. Can't wait for later episodes.

Tbf, Getsuga was never supposed to be blue. A major reason why Kubo decided to involve himself in anime-making is that he did not like the original anime. The director of the original anime added extra scenes and changed the tone of some scenes changing the way characters would actually behave and feel in the source material versus the manga. He also really added and highlighted a lot of Ichigo and Rukia interactions while painting Orihime in a more annoying and negative light. Like the amount of Kurosaki-kuns is ridiculous. Then there is the scene where she gets scared of Ichigo's hollowfication. That is supposed to be a manifestation of her trauma from what happened to her brother. Instead, it is painted as a sort of ungrateful rejection of Ichigo who came to save her! All this and more caused damage to what the cannon relationship is supposed to be. By the way this was all confirmed by Kubo himself.

Bleach #SundayRundown Few tidbits: When Quincy kill Hollow, the souls are not passed on like when Soul Reapers "kill" Hollow. Hollow killed by Quincy are just completely destroyed, throwing off the balance of souls in each world. Mayuri took notice of an extremely high amount of Hollow being wiped out in a short span of time, which is alarming for the world's balance. Yamamoto's Lieutenant Sasakibe, actually has his manga-accurate eyes which contain no pupils. The color of Ichigo's getsuga is also manga-accurate as yellow whereas in the OG it was blue. Shino Madarame is the younger sister of Ikkaku Madarame. Uryuu "skating" on reishi isn't new. The technique is called "Hirenkyaku" which is a high speed movement Quincy use. We just never see the actual reishi in the OG anime because it would take more time to animate. Due to some controversy of Ikkaku's original VA, Ikkaku now has a new VA, Todd Haberkorn, known for voicing Natsu in Fairytail. Other characters have been recasted as well. The drawings of the characters in this arc is the closest to being manga accurate as if Tite Kubo drew them himself. Attention to details is super impressive. The way you say Yhwch is Yuha - Baja

Someone's probably said it by now, but I'm not looking for it. What we know about this war at this point is that the Soul Reapers purify Hollows and return them to the cycle of reincarnation. The Quincies completely obliterate them upseting the balance of the worlds. You can probably think of it like metaphysical climate change. Can't really put an exact timeline on it but it will eventually destroy the world. Because of this the Soul Reapers petitioned the Quincies to stop, and when they refused the Soul Reapers unilaterally wiped them out becoming the basis for the title TYBW.

#SundayRundown I might be alone on this, but, in base form, I actually prefer the blue Getsuga of the first series to the yellow one of TYBW. Weird, 'cause yellow is my favorite color, but I just feel the blue fits better overall. In bankai form though, it's DEFINITELY the b/w cosmic fire of TYBW over the black'n'red swirlies of the first series. --- I am, and forever will remain, Ichiruki. That said, TYBW is when I FINALLY looked at Ichihime and went "A'ight. I respect it. I see the vision." And it all started with this episode/chapter. Orihime fighting right alongside Ichigo, then teasing him about the bread, then opening his window for him as he kicks a bad guy out of it, was, to me, better and more meaningful interaction between the two of them than in 90% of the episodes previous. 😆

Navi regarding what you mentioned in the intro about it only being on Hulu is that it’s cause Disney acquired the licensing rights to Bleach from Crunchyroll and they just decided to put it where it used to be back in the day which is Hulu, it’s probably the main reason why it’s not as popular as it can be, despite the fact that it’s still very popular and mainstream simply because it’s a legacy IP as one of the Big3. Almost any other series would’ve fell into obscurity.

Immediately it jumped to the top of the top anime list with it’s phenomenal first season (cour) BLEACH got the best adaptation award in 2022 This adaptation is INSANE, every Cour is PEAK. Unlike OG Bleach, TYBW actually enhances the source material, thanks to Kubo being heavily involved. No filler, just straight to the point I’m sure you’ve noticed the pacing is very fast by now Also if you guys didn’t know, BLEACH has inspired many anime such as Demon Slayer, JJK, Black Clover, MHA etc. There are also Bleach references within JJK, Gintama, MHA and other manga. BLEACH has even collaborated with Marvel, Coca Cola, Puma and even has its own Visa cards. BLEACH also inspired a DC comic. The creator of Tekken is also a fan since Ichigo is canonically shown to be a Tekken fan in the fullbring arc when he lends his game to Tatsuki if yall remember that TYBW is HOW OG BLEACH was SUPPOSE to be adapted. The Quincies deserved it. Soul reapers were like, "Hey, you're literally destroying the world. Please stop." and the quincies were like, "Nah son. We're gonna do what we do because only we matter." The soul society literally did its job in protecting the cycle. It someone tries to destroy the world and refuse to be reasoned with, they cannot continue to be a thing. The quincies' arrogance is what destroyed them. Like seriously how hard is it to just not destroy the world? With their powers they could literally just restrain hollows and work with the soul society to exorcise them and continue the cycle. So no, Quincies have **always** been synonymous with Nazis as their entire thing is extermination while the soul society is about rebirth. If you think the soul society are the real nazis then you took entirely the wrong lesson from this story and I genuinely don't know what to tell you 🤷‍♂️

Not really. There's TONS of plot armor. I can think of two Zombies that were cured, a fan-favorite character whose death was reversed by negative fan backlash, a donut who eventually got cyborged up, holy form activiation bringing dead (or damn near dead) characters back to full health. Two captains killed offscreen by Gremmy, who wind up making it to the epilogues, Hell Arc, etc... An artificial girl who gets remade as her 8th iteration....

I also am happy you are going to watch all the way to the very end of the episode, because in nearly every episode, there is a post credit scene. So I was gonna be worried that you guys would miss some important details that happen after the credits roll but happy you confirmed that will not be the case lol. Enjoy this arc, this is PEAK Bleach every episode just gets better and better! Also Fun Fact Kubo has a lot of input in this arc and even now he is working on adding things. He added a lot of things that weren’t in the manga because he ran out of time, but thanks to the anime he can add things and fights that he wish he did. Lastly I do hope you do some 2 parters because there are a couple of episodes that aired together and would love if it would be the same upload wise. Just something to think about

"Yaweh" is a generally used term but nobody knows for sure if that is correct. How ancient Hebrew writing worked is that the same symbol could hold different pronunciations....which is guess is how all writing works...It could translate to "I am" or "To be", but basically Yhwach is saying with his very name, "I'm god, bitches!" They changed some words with the dub. In the sub, Yama doesn't say "that's Sasakibe's lightning", he says that it's Sasakibe's bankai. Also, ignore ALL perceived plot armor for this arc. NOBODY has plot armor this arc.

I really, really don't think one episode per week is a good call. Like at all. Just reading the comments here I see so many people think the same. I'll be renewing in three months or so if it remains like this, but hopefully you guys can reconsider. I want to support you guys but one episode a week is just not enough to justify it for me

#SundayRundown Bleach You don’t understand how hype this episode was when it aired, it immediately ranked top 1 in “My Anime List” for a week beating FMAB. That a side, there is something I believe you should know, there was an additional chapter in a volume which works as a prequel to episode 1 of Bleach. There Ichigo is the focus and he has a poem that is relevant to the whole story and his journey: “It spins. The world changes. It turns. Each time it touches the sun and the moon… it takes a new shape. The one thing that does not change… …is my powerlessness. It’s turning. If fate is a millstone… …then we are the grist. There is nothing we can do. So I wish for strength. If I cannot protect them from the wheel… …then give me a strong blade… …and enough strength… …to shatter fate.” Also, as you could see, the quincys shown have a heavy nazi inspiration, in their design, music and personality. Another thing is that as you could see, sometimes characters will receive splash screens, I would heavily recommend going back at the end of the episode and taking notes from them, as sometimes they contain crucial information that would not be repeated again. Finally, one of the biggest memes of the series is the term “Bankai spammers”, this refers to characters who use it in almost every fight; the biggest culprits of these are: Toshiro, Byakuya, Renji and Ichigo.

#Sunday Rundown Bleach So the difference between Soul Reapers and Quincies is that Soul Reapers purify Hollows and allow them to enter into the soul cycle while Quincies essentially destroy them. So when the Quincies continued to do their thing it caused an imbalance in souls between the Soul Society and Living World which threatened the worlds' existence. This difference in ideology caused an altercation between the two which resulted in a war and ended in the annihilation of the Quincies.
