i hate when people call things filler outside the context of shows that are adaptations that don't have seasonal breaks. like they've been trained to think that any moments of levity, character exploration, or just breathing room are a waste of time because they don't progress the plot

2024-12-11 17:33:17 +0000 UTCOmg, DanDaDan using so many Japanese pop culture references like JJK. 😂 ✨Momo's friend acting like a detective = she is impersonating a very famous and well known tv detective from the 90s, Furuhata Ninjaburo. Like, any time I've watched Japanese tv shows and solving something is involved, someone WILL DO an impersonation of this character, lol. ✨Momo's Abe Hiroshi impersonation = He's a very famous actor known for his "shibui" face and height. "Rocket Engine Valve" is apparently something he says in one of his television dramas, Downtown Rocket, where he played the main character. I didn't watch it but that drama garnered so much attention and popularity in 2015, I at least knew who was starring and it's weekly ratings; the ratings were HIGH for a tv drama in the 2010s. Alot of Japanese people definitely watched it, lol.

2024-12-07 04:47:06 +0000 UTCYokai = Spirits Don't know if the term is inherently for "evil" type, but for the most part they are typically associated with mischief, viloence, and/or natural disasters, but that may not be all. Kappa are a prime example as there are plenty of stories involving luring them people to drown or causing floods, but there's also a lot of that "Disneyism", where there is the story of them saving people, or raising a protag. I don't know what's the cultural truth there. On another note I don't know how long this show is expected to run but we're only 10 episodes in so I'm curious why Navi would think this is (or how she's defining) a "filler" episode?
