first time viewing should definitely be theatrical version

It’s a pity that you chose to see the thetrical version instead of the Final Cut. i was very interested to see your reaction. The theatrical version with the voice-over of Deckard (H.Ford) makes the film lose that sense of mystery and ambiguity. You could take a survey to choose the version to be viewed. In this video is explained the difference between the various versions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n70PtKIhitA

Is anyone else not able to watch the youtube links? It goes to youtube, but it's just a black screen and nothing plays. I don't know if the video is blocked in some regions or something. It's been like this since the hack. I'm in Europe, if that helps

Balmung

pretty sure they just released a prototype of a flying car, IDK if it was fake though. So technically we do have flying cars now o.o

Edit: (Bladerunner) Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. I'm assuming you guys aren't going to watch the other cuts, or read the book. I'll spoil the other cut for you and parts of the book. In the other cut it's implied that Deckard retired Rachel; He didn't run off with her. So in the book, Deckard is married but he did have an affair with Rachel and talk about running off with her. He chooses his wife (I'll be honest, it felt like he was choosing Rachel in the story but then the stoning happens). He goes home to his wife and watches a video of Rachel pushing his sheep off the rooftop. Reaffirming to Deckard he made the right choice. I think Rachel did it out of jealousy or anger. I think the point of the story was that androids were developing or had developed emotions, but they did not have empathy. The runaways torture a spider and Rachel pushes the sheep off the roof. I always thought Deckard was supposed to be human, and that what the author was going for when he had him choose his wife. He does have an arc in the story about whether he is human. But I do think in the sequel he's a replicant. In the book, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", the story takes place after World War Terminus. Which I think is World War 3 but it's called Terminus because it's the final world war. The planet is covered in radiation which is why most people don't live on Earth and people are encouraged to move to Mars. The big cities that are still around are mostly empty. The book describes how there's a pervasive silence and dust covering a lot of things. After the war, people in the book shifted to a world/universal religion called mercerism which is focused on mercy and empathy. All life is considered sacred; Even more so since there's so little life left on Earth. So everyone raises an animal. Deckard has a sheep that he keeps on the roof of his apartment building. The other important part of mercerism is everyone plugs into a computer or machine in the morning and experiences the same scenario. The scenario is a man walking up a hill and he gets hit with a stone. Then either he gets stoned to death, or he keeps walking. It's been awhile since I read the book, but the main point is everyone plugged into the machine feels it. So everyone on Earth is connected mentally/emotionally, they feel the pain, acknowledge each others' thoughts and feelings, accept it and move on together. Everyone does this everyday as part of this religion. At the end of the book, Deckard starts experiencing this religious event in real life. Like he parks his car and starts walking around to clear his mind, then he starts getting stoned from no where, and he runs away. The book does bring in to question whether Deckard is a replicant or not. That's why Deckard needs to go for a walk to clear his mind. At a certain point, Deckard gets arrested by another cop who is a replicant hunter. There's a fight between Deckard and him about who's human or not. Deckard also finds out that there's been a small secret society of replicants living on Earth as if they're human.

If Death Ever Slept

planet of the apes trilogy? such a good reaction last week please do the other 2 movies

Isabella Hayes-Hollands

Blade Runners are borderline a slave patrol, and I took it as the only reason that Deckard kept going as long as he did was the combat models that might kill people. He only came back after giving up because they killed the guy at the beginning of the film. You can see the utter contempt he showed for Tyrel. I think he realized that he was a slave catcher for sociopaths who made real people with expiration dates to more easily control them and make an extra buck.

I hated Bladerunner first time I watched. When you discuss it and people force you to confront the themes you realise how impactful it is. The slow pace is the difference between art and entertainment; to make you think whilst immersed in that world. It requires patience that our actual world condemns… never think just consume!

George Baxter

lol

Jesse Vincente

Unpopular opinion: the narrative structure of the theatrical release is superior to both the DC and the FC.

Gaius Frakking Baltar

The emotional whiplash from the excitement of seeing a Bladerunner reaction in the feed to the utter disappointment of realizing it’s not the Final Cut version.

Green Ranger

waste of a reaction. Should have did the final cut

Kraackin

Can we stick to one movie franchise at a time, please? LOL

Scarlet Siren

doom patrol?

Simmie

Good point. A description of the version in the title would've helped. This is where a poll might've come in handy too.

Husk

its "So Say "We" All" Chris get it right dammit Adama deserves better :-)

Macs

yes its the theatrical better then the dc worse then the fc

Macs

Sorry I'm actually asking.

Objuan

Okay so this reaction is for the theatrical cut of the film

Objuan

Normies, I love you guys, but if you have just gone through a 5 minute conversation about how there are so many different versions of this movie that you're not even sure why some of them exist, then could you please provide more than "So what are we watching?" "I don't even know" "It doesn't matter, that's the only one that's available for us to watch on Amazon" when we need to be syncing to our own copy for the full-length to work? Sorry if I'm just missing you having it listed somewhere obvious, but when I go to Amazon Prime and search for Blade Runner, both the Final Cut and the OG are there for the same price, and I bet even that is likely to vary region by region (or VPN by VPN lol).

Andrew W

at least it was the version without the idiotic unicorn from Legend

Henrik Holst

The old movie trope between Rachel and Deckard is Ridley Scott shenanigans, in the script it was supposed to be a scene where Rachel is unsure if her attraction to Deckard is her own or if it's Tyrells Niece:s

Henrik Holst

I would also think that it was unavoidable. I mean they are not machines, they are just man made humans so they have the same brain that we have so creating emotions is not something that you can alter the brain to not have while being able to still have mental capacity,

Henrik Holst

I love this movie and it really makes ya think at the end & the sequel is soo good too

Narutoanime16

So glad the people on the couch who watched this before were more interested in asking the others questions rather than telling them the existing theories. To me, that's one of the greatest things this movie offers, and the questions are far more interesting than the answers.

Tyler Worthington

Yaboyroshi channel just got hacked as well wtf is going on

Ken

Ridley Scott also disliked the ending which was a studio decision.

Chaos T

Some might not like this reaction because it's the theatrical cut of the film. This is the cut that originally didn't sit well with the movie going audience and was critically panned. Ridley Scott disliked this version of the film because of studio interference; which seems to be a common thread in his career for some reason. However, reacting to the theatrical version is probably appropriate for a "cult classic" reaction. This is the version a lot of people watched and fell in love with despite its flaws. I'm really glad Chris was in the reaction to give context to some things that may have not been clear with this cut of the film; specifically the Deckard character.

Chaos T

I hope they watch Bladrunner 2049. I really liked that movie. Much easier to follow story wise and has a lot of good actors and scenes in the film that I enjoyed much more.

Arturo Mauleon Higginbotham.Jr.

The narration is in the theatrical cut. Both Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott weren't a fan of the narration but were overruled by the studio. Because like Chris said, the studios thought people couldn't follow the movie. The Final Cut is the preferred version among a lot of the fans.

Frankie H

Oh god you had to pick this one

Matthew Cronin

"Bladerunner" is one of the things that shaped my love of science fiction and got me to watch/read other great science fiction. The film also inspired many creative individuals who would later become influential in many genres of the entertainment industry. "Bladerunner" had a hell of an arc from a critical and box office failure to decades later becoming a must watch science fiction classic.

Chaos T

oh no its the version with the internal monologue

Macs

So aparently the reason why they have emotions is actually to make them better workers, turns out emotions like fear and things make for being smarter

Olufemi Davies

Another 80's movie that Darly Hannah was in that yall might like, called Splash. It also has Tom Hanks.

Fredrick Mingo

Ohhhh, noooooo, guess I have to watch BLADE RUNNER today. Woe is me /s

Tyler Worthington

Watching either way but this got me lol

Tyler Worthington

EW. Not the Final cut? Oooooo Nevermind!
