The Espada meeting is so iconic. So many amazing and unique character designs, can't wait for you guys to get to know some of the Espada. Aizen had to check Grimmjow real quick lmao, just goes to show how monstrous Aizen's strength is. @Suraj yes Aizen's VA is Kyle Hebert (Kiba, Gohan, Kamina etc) he also voiced Ganju as well.

This is a difference from all the way back in the first arc with the Grand Fisher episodes and I had what I think was my first comment read on the Rundown. So manga readers had actually seen the one of the two Arrancar that Uryu and Chad absolutely bodied. In the ended of that arc in the manga there is a scene of Aisslinger, the one with the creepy arms that Uryu killed, performing surgery on Grand Fisher and then turning him into an Arrancar. Readers didn't know his name and despite that he got a vote in one of the popularity contests as 'The hollow that fixed Grand Fisher". There's also some regular manga anime differences, mostly with the beginning parts of 144 where the team running around the underground triggering traps was all anime. In the manga they confronted the two Arrancar right away. Also quick note that y'all probably didn't get because it was presented in a weird way, the reason they didn't activate their released state during the fight with Uryu and Chad was because they were always in their released states having abandoned their human looking forms. Don't feel bad if you didn't get it because I, a Bleach fan in the same way Suraj is a Lost fan, didn't know until I was doing some research for these episodes.

Could mean 14, could mean 15, could mean 16, she's basically a teen. Either way, it's strange though lol. There IS a theory (just a theory, never confirmed) that none of Simon, Kamina or Yoko have the accurate ages anyway because...well, they live underground and nobody has any official records there or even know how to count lol. But that's just a theory, as i said, never confirmed, likely born of copium for Kamina and Yoko's age gap, but it's a good theory imo.

I remember in one of the #Sundayrundowns y'all mentioned that Wednesday is the weakest which is weird with Gurren being the "weak link" when its probably one of the most beloved shows in the anime community with reactors like Blind Wave and RTTV putting the show in S-Tier. Its sad that there may not be enough support for the show for such a gem of a series theses days when back in the late 00s and early 10s almost every con or anime group you find can sing Gurren Lagann's OP "Sorairo Days" completely and in unison with how hype this show was. Its also real fun seeing the CHOOMS react to the other members flaunting their experience with the other shows that they have seen (now you know how it feels to be an anime elitist /s). I hope the Choom picks stay classy after Gurren is over since the discussion for the type of shows they watch have been preem and is a nice balance to the shonen show they pick.

2023-11-02 01:08:00 +0000 UTCGurren Lagann is one of my favorite anime because its themes are reinforced by the music and the narrative structure. I don’t know much about music so I’m not even going to attempt to pull out musical terms, but the leitmotif that is used in much of the music has the same progression where the notes go higher and then a note that brings it back down and it keeps repeating that. The narrative structure does the same, but it’s harder to tell since most things we watch and read do the same thing: inciting actions, rising actions, climaxes, and denouements. But for Gurren Lagann, it much more compressed, especially for a 26-episode anime (because we don’t count the clip show episode). In another 26-episode anime, Kamina’s death would’ve been in the midpoint at episode 12 or 13 instead of episode 8. We’ve been on the ascending part of the spiral and now, we’re on the descending side of it.

Kamina's death is one of my favorite deaths in anime, it has such significant weight not just tonally for the show but in character arcs and the narrative structure going forward combined with the animation and how sudden or unexpected death in real life is just makes the moment so memorable to me.

2023-11-01 18:09:09 +0000 UTCI was never a fan of Kamina so I was unaffected by his death. However, I think I did drop the show around episode 7 or 8. One of my friends begged me to give the show another chance. I binged watched the rest of the series and Gurren Lagann became my favorite shounen anime of all time. This episode marks a shift in tone for the show. It's still fun and goofy but it shows you that it can be serious as well. Fun fact: On Blind Wave's reaction tier list, Gurren Lagann is rated S tier alongside other shows like Attack on Titan, Full Metal Alchemist, and Hunter x Hunter. Obviously, that doesn't mean The Normies will enjoy the show as much as they did, but it's definitely going to be a fun ride. I just thought I should mention that since people tend to sleep on Gurren Lagann.

He willed himself back to life to help Simon finish the job. You can see on the life monitors that his icon is black (usually it’s lit up to be yellow). That’s why when they show a shot of him in the cockpit of his gunmen, the interior is dark indicating that there’s no sign of life in there.

I feel like 146-149 is filler but ive seen it all and know whose showing up. 146 adds a bunch of characters. 147-149 is a wild side story. But if u dont watch at least 146 and jump to 150 you will be like "wtf when did these guys show up??"
