dont know what a pluot is brah? someone needs to watch "just add magic" all 4 seasons are on amazon prime :). a pluot is a hybrid fruit: plum and apricot. the show's small town is known for its pluots and they make so many recipes based on them. its pretty good, the show and food. grab ketty and the kitties and snuggle up for some good wholesome family fun

rickie woodson

I forgot how awesome and hilarious this episode of Wesley was! Can't wait for the next one!

Daniel R

Can’t wait for 5x16!!!!! Named one of the best episodes in the history of TV by EW, Time, TV Guide and The Guardian.

Alexander Graetzer

Jane Espenson for the win. She always like to play with words, starting from the title of the episode. Too bad they talk so much over it that they don’t catch half of it.

Vicky N

I hope everyone is on the couch for episode 7. It's one of the best

Jessica

Be the change you wanna see, make some #SundayRundown posts of your own!

Great catch

Blunts and Brunch Podcast....yes please.

This episode of Angel has some of my favorite quotes from the entire show ... Fake Swami: "You're deeply ambivalent" Angel: "Well, I am and I'm not ..." And then Gunn muttering under his breath, "I could've told you she wasn't no virgin ..." ALWAYS makes me laugh

Kristin Carter

I didn't put that together until just now lol

All Mighty Lowercase Jay

Amy Adams was in some roles on WB/CW network shows earlier in her career. She was in one of the more disturbing episodes of "Smallville".

Chaos T

You guys recognized the actor who played Tara's brother Donny, Kevin Rankin, from season 5 of Breaking Bad, where he played one of the Nazis.

K Murray

Wooooo! for a fun Buffy thursday, finally getting a tara episode, she really grows this season and becomes apart of the scoobies.... and wooo for a crazy Young justice episode with arsenal being arsenal lol, and Big woooo for my fan fav episode of angel where wesley pretends to be angel.

Ricardo Obregon

HAHAHAHA that spike skit was EVERYTHING! innit? HAHAHAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA GASP HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA surj was the star but rana and chris were standouts too lol

rickie woodson

i so thought this episode happened in season 6. i just remember the tara of it all, all traces of glory were erased so a nice surprise THIS was the ep we got. love this backstory for tara. so many real world applications it can apply to. being gay, a woman, a witch, etc etc. all were told they were evil for being themselves and vilified for it. in some cases killed. it also lets us see why tara is so timid and shy. with this monkey off her shoulder, she can shine bright like a diamond and be the happy confident woman she is when she is willow but on her own. love when joss goes DEEP

rickie woodson

dawn: only losers drink alcohol. me: RIGHT ON SISTER! MY GIRL!

rickie woodson

Rundown: This episode of Buffy goes really well with the previous one. Dawn and Tara are similar in that they don’t really belong in the Scooby family but are accepted and almost “adopted” in a way by the Scoobies. This episode really displays the theme of the season as being about family (chosen or by blood). BTW, idk if you guys have heard about Audible. They are releasing a new Buffy story this month with many of the original actors returning. I wouldn’t look it up just in case it spoils anything for you but I can’t wait to hear these characters again.

Morgan Liffers

didn't intend this to be such an argument, sorry as well

Macs

thanks for spreading the positive vibes surj. im going to ride on that and pass on some words of wisdom i picked up: no matter what they call us, no matter how they attack, no matter where they take us, we'll find our own way back; no matter what they tell us, no matter what they do, no matter what they teach us, what we believe is true....... lyrics from the andrew lloyd webber musical "whistle down the wind". take what inspiration you can form them but for me, these are great words to use as a mantra to stay true to yourself when faced with any form of indoctrination rather its from society at large or a specific entity. you took us from africa and TRIED to force us to assimilate to your culture but there is nothing wrong with ours so "no matter what you teach us" we will still do our own thing. so next time someone says "you cant wear that cause you are a boy" or "you cant do that cause you're this race" hopefully mister webber's words can bring some solace

rickie woodson

"One of the things I appreciate the most about both Buffy and Angel is the nuance" agreed

Macs

No apologies needed! I know I’m long winded af I usually respond in a similar way when I see bigoted comments I definitely see where you’re coming from in viewing that interpretation of her background as trite, I do 100% agree that while the writing is sometimes a little too nail on the head my views of the episode could be an oversimplification One of the things I appreciate the most about both Buffy and Angel is the nuance you mentioned, parallels are regularly being drawn thematically and narratively but they’re often subtle and not overly simplified

space colon

I had watched YJ up until the start of S1 multiple times, but could never get into S2. I'm glad im sticking through it with yall cause its great! Watching it weekly is excruciating but the payoff is great!

SlyMorris

yes sure that is also an important part of it, eh I kinda feel bad arguing about this so long but yes that was my interpretation of the ep since I saw it back when, and every time since obviously its also about them hating the fact shes gay, but I always felt it was much more nuanced then that, I agree with this "I really don’t think this episode is solely about Tara as a woman, it’s also about her as a queer woman" absolutely no question, I jsut didn't like this idea that "maybe she just comes from a line of gay witches" it just seemed so trite to me, I guess I misinterpreted, what you were saying, "The power of magic in this context isn’t solely from womanhood but the freedoms a woman creates in their life (including their sexuality)" completely agree with that as well, just lok at her shithead dad condescendingly pointing out her "magic items" in her room, i'm letting it go might have just over reacted, lol didn't realize how protective I am of Taras image, In the end I felt it at its core about women in those kind of environments being beaten down for trying to become something more, sure the sexual part is definitely their and a major part of it, and I just really hated the implication that she was gay because her mom and her bloodline of witches, guess we just misunderstood each other, my bad, sorry, (also sorry for the walls of text, just too late here for me to edit properly)

Macs

I apologize if you personally felt hurt by my comments, especially if my they were worded so poorly that they came across as bigoted

space colon

Sad about that, their genuinely some great episodes.

Nyeisha Melvina Clark

wes really starts to come into his own, its great

Macs

I think there’s been a misunderstanding, I appreciate you taking the time to explain where you’re coming from Would like to clarify a few things I didn’t say she’s gay because her line is and I don’t think I once implied that, I was saying the show may have been implying that the women in this family have passed down these “magic teachings” to each other (not genetically) My dad is pan and I’m pan, was this genetic? No Did me having a parent who openly discussed their sexuality open doors for me to consider exploring my own? Yes Magic in this show is very very often tied into exploring queer dynamics, if women in her family were beaten down for trying to understand/explore their sexuality (as many women in religious communities are) then that’s beyond horrible. I don’t think it’s an invalid interpretation I really don’t think this episode is solely about Tara as a woman, it’s also about her as a queer woman The power of magic in this context isn’t solely from womanhood but the freedoms a woman creates in their life (including their sexuality)

space colon

Seems now The Reach and Lexcorp are going into the farming business to sell the reaches mysterious drink with who knows what's in it. Also Arsenal just jeopardized the mission with that stunt he did and almost got them all killed by that cocky Black Beetle asshole! Good thing that Green Beetle came and helped them, but is he really on the heroes side or is this a long game he's playing?

Brandon Gibbs

well of course my reply comes off as upset because I was. Taking away Taras own decisions and choices by saying nope her mom and the female line of witches in her family were just gay upset me, obviously they are fictional, how does that change what you said? its not horrible its not awful its just very condescendent, "Tara is gay because her line was" that is offensive to me, of course the family was very very not only discriminatory against women they were clearly physically abusive towards the women of their family to curb their magic. That doesn't mean and I quote "this Buffy episode feels like one big metaphor for patriarchal disdain towards queer people" its a tad more nuanced then that and you do a disservice to Tara and women in situations like this in real life where they are being dominated and abused like that, by saying "maybe taras mom was queer" that Is what set me off. Because it just seems to devalue the entire point of the episode.

Macs

So true! I don’t know how many actors in either show get a chance to display as much emotional range as Alexis does!

space colon

Both of your comments have really come across as angry or upset, like my comment was some horrible awful thing Would love if you could tell me how Tara’s mom being queer takes away from any of Tara’s decisions These fictional characters being queer doesn’t mean they weren’t also discriminated against for being women

space colon

Guise will be Guise is one of my favorite comedy episode of Angel. It’s a great “anytime rewatch” because it’s mostly stand alone and just fun. Alexis really gets to show his chops in this episode. Wesley is hilarious posing as Angel but he also shows his charm. You can see why Virginia is charmed by him.

Ray D

She missed them unfortunately 😩

"Queer doesn’t equal gay" "(women in general but queer women too)" "Tara’s mom could have been queer" uh huh, ok yes you absolutely did say they probably were, I don't appreciate you taking away what Tara did by saying her mum was gay, I mean why would you? maybe her grandmom was, or maybe not, and maybe her mom was and maybe she wasn't, thats not even the moral point of the episode, you are putting things onto people who have their own lives and stories that we never heard, we know that they were treated like crap, we know they were gaslighted into thinking their magic power was evil and demon related, when we know that magic isn't intrinsically evil, or bad, they thought but really as spike said pretended the females in their family were 1/2 demon instead of powerful magic users that is seriously f*cked up,. sure her mom could've have been queer, that doesn't change what you said, give Tara her own agenda bloody hell m8

Macs

1). Don’t appreciate you making my comment out to be baseless or reductive 2). Queer doesn’t equal gay 3). Witchcraft and queerness have absolutely been intertwined thematically (magic is not solely depicted as a metaphor for female solidarity and empowerment) 4). Her mom and grandmother can be queer and that doesn’t in any way take away from their connection. Sexuality is a spectrum and women in this family not being confined to basic conventions assigned to them makes them more connected 5). Yes they don’t have to be queer, at the time of writing the metaphor may have been more focused on not submitting to patriarchal convention

space colon

Tara said at the end of the "Hush" episode when she's talking to Willow for the first time that she'd had been practicing magic her whole life and that her mother had a lot of power, so it's safe to assume, especially based off of this, that Tara is more of a natural born Wiccan who comes from a long line of female witches. Tara seems more naturally attuned to magic, practices more of a Wiccan lifestyle, and has a better understanding of magic as a whole. I think Amy was/is probably similar as her mother was also a powerful witch. Whereas Willow is more of someone who fell into magic with no real and kinda just winging it as she learns and probably why she bombs or has mishaps with a lot of her spells (Tara had a miss up on her spell this episode, but I mostly chalk that up to her panicking fear and desperation that led her to not only make sure she was doing the spell correctly, but doing the spell in the first place). She doesn't seem to follow Wicca or any other "guide" on her use of magic really and more of a, "I need a spell or some sort of magic to help solve problems" that she and the team come across and building her magic arsenal (like the amplified sunshine spell she did at the burnt out school and Tara mentioned that the spell was initially a small light they had previously practiced). Willow actually probably still practices Judaism, but also happens to practice magic use as well...

Ash Lee Can

well yes it is, but idk why you'd think her mom was gay, Taras family has been beating down sometimes clearly literally the girls witch power to control them, the metaphor in that case is obvious, why would you just decide Taras mom was a lesbian? wtf? that just takes away from Tara and her mom, and grandmom and so on.

Macs

I hate that it is no longer actually chronological, and I also hate that you can't see tags in the homepage. Otherwise I wouldn't mind it, the look is OK.

Ashleep

Think this Buffy episode feels like one big metaphor for patriarchal disdain towards queer people (women in general as well of course) The female cousin honestly makes me sad, she’s just been conditioned to cater to this Mike Pence ass family Tara’s mom could have been queer

The homie Johnny Blue saying it like it is

I’m over here crying laughing at “Everbody Loves Spike” skit. Great job! Chris with the hair flip and “Why not” was perfect. Poor Rana tried the British accent. Suraj gave a Rocky Balboa accent. The director “Spidey Lee” wanted his name off the credits by the end of it. 😂😂

Alison

Arsenal is one of my favorites from YJ S2. Every hero team needs a “you know what.. fuck it” kinda guy

Zee

that is amy adams though, she got it right

Macs

Katherine Heigl, now Amy Adams. Rana this is getting crazy...

#SundayRundown for YJ 2x12: I'm glad you guys are becoming self-aware of the goldfish memory meme of the Normies. Yes, you guys have said these things before. Yes, your Patrons and mods have heard it before. No, this won't be the last time you'll say these things again.

I'm so confused with this Patreon update

KimKaiRen

#SundayRundown#YoungJustice How do you feel about Arsenal? Understandably, he has some anger issues due to being taken, frozen and losing his arm. But, that was a situation that no one could have expected. Do you think he will eventually get over feeling forgotten or will he let his feelings consume him and negative affect the team? There is one very important question that has to be answered…..did Chris have the Guys’ Brunch that he mentioned at the end of the previous reaction and Suraj did you only bring one burrito?

Marcb92

it feels improved and modern

Yamete Kudasai

@Chaos T agreed

Macs

Everything feels a little snappier though. We'll see if it improves

Philly The Kid

The new Patreon changes are ass. The app seems to be worse than it was before.

Chaos T

Deathstrokes real name is Slade Wilson. Deadpool was created as a parody of Deathstroke, which is why his name is Wade Wilson. “Slade” from the old Teen Titans cartoon is Deathstroke, Cartoon Network just used his real name instead because they felt at the time Deathstroke sounded too violent for a kids show

flexluthor

Next week the two best back to back crossover episodes ever, I sure hope Marketa listens and sits in for the Angel episode as well. It really completes everything.
