She the blonde girl from bring it on . The villian in red dress.

That is a bullshit excuse, it has been empirically proven that you can close your legs no matter how big your junk is (physical deformities excluded). You've only outed yourself as another manspreader with no manners

BetheSOUL

Yeah, Roswell for life!!! Agent Topolski!

BetheSOUL

no need to bodyshame some people have bigger balls then others

Re Angel: How many times do we have to hear the exact same question from Chris and discussion from the group about the curse?

Vicky N

I loved seeing the manspreading addressed. Props to Mickey for being the only dude who naturally sits in a way that makes room. As for the other guys, have them wear skirts

BetheSOUL

I watched Buffy live at the time, and the community was huge on the net with specualtions and theories on what was going on. At the time, everyone KNEW Dawn was fake, and everyone knew she was planted in there during the Dracula episode. Quite a contrast to the Normies who thought she was just someone new that the show added randomly (except for Rana). It was a great time back then. We didn't have social media like today that spoils everything, instead it was civilized discussions on message boards.

Jontor11

Spidey saying it's for the poors... but like, they are basically homeless and steal food to eat. They ARE the poors.

Bisibia

@Jontor11 thanks for reminding me, yea I never finished it, probably because as you say it was cancelled and I never watched the last season, but the first 2 were solid, if I remember right, definitely remember enjoying the first season

Macs

stop picking on Gunns axe, it was a gift from his crew he likes his axe, also the actor J. August Richards kept the prop because he liked it too

Macs

Young Justice Sunday Rundown Featured in this episode is the three-eyed alien villain Despero, who fought at least two incarnations of the "Justice League" in the DC Comics publications and this is his third appearance in an animated series, after the Justice League episode "Hearts and Minds" and Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode "The Eyes of Despero!". Also coming up are 2 banger episode The Fix and War also dont how far ahead you will be but for seasons 3 and 4 you need to watch the end credits just a helpful reminder also pleasr consider watching Last Man On Earth and The Owl House

BradBoimler

The people of Sunnydale rushing to a legitimate magic shop may be in part because many people know they have to strap for the supernatural events that may occur in the town. Sunnydale is one of the few US cities in fiction where owning a orb of whatever is more beneficial than owning a gun for personal protection.

Chaos T

@space1999 Stargate SG-1 was consistently entertaining through its 10 year run in part because it was so damn good at the meta stuff from the start of the series. "Seinfeld" and "It's Garry Shandling's Show" are also great meta tv series. I don't know if it counts because he was a talk show host but David Letterman in his prime was really f'ing good at the meta stuff and made fun of the talk show genre.

Chaos T

Buffy's foreshadowing is so subtle and hidden. 👏👏

#SundayRundown #Buffy 1st i wanna Say that i love that you guys are enjoying Angel and Buffy. As someone who grew up on these shows as they aired in Real Time it makes me happy to see so many people coming to them now and enjoying them. Now, Season 5 of Buffy is widely considered to be the best Season of Buffy (as you all just leared Dawn WAS there the whole time 😆) this series has a lot of foreshadowing one of the things you might have missed were the numbers 7:30 or 7-3-0 being represented. Well, 730 ÷ 2 = 365 and 365 = days in a year so 730 = 2 years. I won't continue pass this point as it leads to spoilers but know that this series as well as Angel sets up events and builds a lot of lore so keep in mind as you continue on with both series its all one universe so concepts/idea will crossover as well as Characters.

All Mighty Lowercase Jay

Wooooo! an awesome exciting Buffy thursday, finally getting to dawns character moment but really shes one of the one i dont care for in the show, dawn is literally a retcon thats not really needed but still there. and wooo for Young justice this season is really ramping up to the finale but really the one before the finale is favorite episode of the whole series. and Big wooo for Angel and starting the Darla arc in the season omg this really where angel gets dark dark, but really just a sign for how dark the other seasons get.

Ricardo Obregon

In Rana's defense, back in 2001 I also immediately thought "the Abomination" was Katherine Heigl, who at the time was a few episodes into the third season of Roswell. And I was shocked she was able to be in both shows... Eventually, I realized it was Clare Kramer and not Heigl of course, and Kramer was in Bring It On with Eliza Dushku. 22 years later I've seen her in a few things, but she'll always be "REDACTED" to me. Julie Benz also had a small role in Roswell. Angel - Game changer of an episode. As for Gunn, he's not quite the Gunn we veteran viewers know, his character is still a bit rough, and hasn't quite found his place in the show yet. Let's just hope he makes it passed episode 9.

Cory Garron

Liam has a demon in him, Darla doesn't. She just has the memories (and a responsibility in a recently murdered actor).

Cory Garron

Yup that was Mal!

flexluthor

oooh the Angel flashbacks in season 2 are so good. this is only the beginning!!! lol also .... i hope this season finally makes it clear that Angel's curse is not a sex curse. it's legitimately a curse about perfect happiness, the kind that's very rare the fact angel even found it one time is a miracle. the darla arc in this show is amazing and it's only getting started. it's part of why season 2 is my favorite season. julie benz totally kills it. and aww the hub cap axe is cool. i *think* j august richards kept that prop, which is awesome.

Katey

Stargate SG-1's later seasons got INCREDIBLY meta

Ashleep

Yes, re-watching this season via the Normies has been so fun because of all the foreshadow/significance that is so obvious now but seamlessly not-obvious the first time.

Ashleep

Clearly everybody knows that was Katherine Heigl on this week's Buffy, but... fun fact Katherine Heigl was, at this time, a series regular on a different WB sci-fi/fantasy series called Roswell. It was about alien teenagers and their troubles. The show was rebooted in 2019 for the CW as "Roswell, New Mexico."

Cory Stanish

Chris' realisation to Static Shock 😅😅

Catradora fan

#Sunday rundown Even though we know dawn is not really Buffy's sister the show has done a terrific job at making her apart of the show so when the truth jobs we feel bad for her and actually see her as Buffy's sister. In my own headcanon I always thought that Buffy's slayer senses could tell something was off with dawn and made her extra agitated with dawn but when she realizes the truth she finally trying bonds with her.

Christopher simeon

In a world where magic is real and in a town on top of a Hellmouth, a magic shop is probably pretty popular (even if most people don't openly believe in magic).

Holding out hope for Buffy double drops 🤞🤞

#SundayRundown: 2 things 1) it’s hype that we got Virgil/Static Shock in the show. In the comics he’s been a member of the Titans and in his show he was associated with Justice League members so it’s cool to see him apart of another ensemble show. You guys should view Mal in a similar sense to a Catwoman. No powers but is athletic enough to help out (he was a football player when we met him). A little trivia for you to take back to the crew Suraj but he was introduced in April 1970 & is DC's first African-American superhero.

Kuro

Angel: Now the Darla arc I love is coming through. The previous semi-rapey bed scenes dont count lol. But it's fascinating how long it takes for Darla's soul/guilt to "kick in", it has been weeks. With Angel, it's like a switch: soul on/off. Julie Benz came to the show to EAT and ate up every scene 😍

Chris K.

#sundayrundown Fun YJ episode! So Mal and Karen (Guardian and Bumblebee) have been members of the Teen Titans in the past (in the comics). Mal actually has had multiple aliases, he was also Herald/Hornblower (he was in S5 of the Teen Titans show). In the show, they are just two people who went to high school with Connor and M'gann, during the time skip Karen became Bumblebee (I'm pretty sure it's just a suit but correct me if she has metapowers), and Mal became the guy in the chair. Neither has superpowers, but both have been shown to have athletic ability. Static is indeed the same character, he's from an imprint called Milestone which is under DC mainline. Usually the Milestone characters are in their own little continuity, but this show combines them. Icon and Rocket are actually also Milestone characters. About the Watchtower orbiting Earth, the very first episode of season 1 points out that the Hall of Justice (which was this episode) is a "cover" for their headquarters, while the space station is the real headquarters. That's why Roy was all upset about not getting to go to the watchtower, it's basically just a museum.

Charlie Maletich

Thank you for laying it all out! I feel bad for SMG because I feel like people don’t acknowledge her skill Her line delivery this episode 😩 “I didn’t ask for this!”

#Sundayrundown #Buffy Long time follower but first time writing ;) First off, S5 is great! And has some truly top notch episodes :) Now that you got som info about Dawn I thought it would be fun to share some (non spoilery) references to Dawn prior to her apperence: In S3xE22 Buffy and Faith share a dream and Faith says "Little miss muffet" wich connects to the crazy man outside The Magic Box in S5xE2 who tells Dawn that she is "Curds and whey". Curds and whey is a reference to a popular nursery rhyme called "Little miss muffet" In S4xE15 Buffy and Faith once again share a dream and Faith says "Little sis' coming, I know. So much to do before she gets here" In S4xE22 during Buffy's dream she and Tara is in her bedroom, looking at the bed. And Buffy says "Faith and I just made that bed" Tara: "For who?" And as Buffy leaves the room Tara says "Be back before Dawn" And the first time we se Dawn in S5xE1 is in Buffy's bedroom. Also, in the same dream-scene (S4xE22)Tara says "You think you know, what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun". Wich is the exact same thing Dracula tells Buffy in S5xE1. And this is part why I love Buffy the vampire slayer. It's so well written and thought out. And I have to give SMG som praice too. It's so easy to take her for granted, but in the scene with the munk where she learns the truth, her performence is just outstanding.

Måns Gustafson

Oh did you mean instead of Willow? That’s so cool! Hard agree about the Dawn theorizing! Watched the show in 07 and was so sad didn’t have a community online to watch with 🥲 I’d love to know what shows before this one dove as deep into the meta of television and such honest vulnerable themes, aside from maybe Twin Peaks and Star Trek TNG and Sopranos I can’t think of anything

space colon

lol mickey "teenagers scare the living shit out of me" is he a fan of Chemical Romance?

Macs

RANA-SPIDEY KNOWS THE KEY. RANA-SPIDEY IS THE KEY. RANA-SPIDEY IS THE KEY AND THE GUARDIAN OF THE GATE.

Pajander

**Spoilers for Spiderverse 2** The couch bringing up universes had me thinking After watching the new Spiderverse the conflict with Miles and his place in the universe reminds me a lot of Dawn’s situation Neither are “supposed to exist” Perfect way to create a high stakes sibling relationship for Buffy! Lots of fun metaphors around belonging and identity and connection

space colon

oh btw Dagon sphere, DAGON is a very intentional HP Lovecraft reference and no thats not a spoiler

Macs

static shock being known is HYPE. thanks navi for nerding out and raging for me lol. its been YEARS so the rage is gone but i feel you lol. the other 3 new metas are also new iterations of "obscure" dc characters from the 70s and 80s with new origin as everyone is getting the gene bomb story arc as their power origin in this series for some reason (oh 90s comics. folks love to hate on you but they just cant quit you lol). will tell more once you get to know their names and powers

rickie woodson

mal worked as their comms person at mount justice and is a super hero in the comics. there are a lot of liaisons in comics for superheroes. snapper carr, henry peter gyrich, valerie cooper, etc etc, just think of mal as that: support staff.

rickie woodson

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN Season 5 of Buffy, a part of television history that I wish I was online and a fan of Buffy at the time of. I wish I got to experience the Buffy fandom theorizing about what was going on with Dawn and y'all's reactions were as close as I could ever get so thanks. Also because they revealed the truth behind Dawn I can share some interesting stuff that expanded material did. In a Buffy comic book issue with a flashback to season 2 they had Dawn being held hostage by toxic Angel instead of Dawn during the big reveal of him being soulless. There are also canon stories about Dawn, ones that are referenced in the comics that are set after the tv show, from when she was younger and the Summer's family didn't live in LA. I just hope that you guys have a great time with the rest of the season because I know I love it. An episode coming up has what is actually my favorite line in television history.

Annah Suarez-Domit

spidey and rana's favorite marvel hero is Vindicator lol so glad yall stuck strong against the gaslighting

rickie woodson

no rickie, skipping recaps from now on is definitely the right thing to do, they know the characters they understand it enough, they need to skip every recap from now on, except the finale to this season of course

Macs

#SundayRundown: To address Navi’s point or confusion to the origin change with Static.. while a superhero themselves may remain the same, their origins or story can change or alter due to different writers. Ex: there’s an origin of Superman's rocket ship landing on a Ukrainian farm instead of Kansas and being raised in the Soviet Union. In the Justice League show.. the Flash is Wally instead of Barry like it is in YJ & most adaptations (animated or live action) or even the various changes with someone like Batman. From the killer of his parents being changed to amount of Robins he takes in or if he even has any Robins in the first place. There’s some stories where he never actually has a Robin and just has Batgirl, Catwoman and/or Alfred as allies. So yeah, the destination can generally stay the same but how they get there is what can change. Also, as far as Mal, he’s (currently) basically in the same vein as Alfred, Gordon or Lois. He doesn’t have powers but he’s a close friend of the the group & helps coordinate missions. In the comics he does become a hero and in this iteration, he’s doing something similar as Guardian

Zee

been WAITING for this episode since you started your reactions. the Abomination is my favorite villain of the series. she is so fun and funny and campy and melodramtic and INSANE. the actress SLAYS the role, her look is ICONIC, her name is BOMB (wait for that reveal) and her story is HYPE! best villain for the best season. cant believe it took 5 seasons for buffy to have a big bad that is female. if we count the duo of spike and dru as the big bad of season 2 (its angelus to me) then first SOLO female big bad. so glad she is FINALLY here and now we can get to know more about our three new cast members and the others to come. #teambaddies

rickie woodson

well its not a nicknack store its a magic show with REAL magical items that has been around for years so folks know it works, plus they leave on a hellmouth and those magically inclined would be aware of this and be stocking up on a regular basis. its also the first day of a grand reopening, yall know humans love new shit why yall playing as if its really that odd for folks to swarm to a NEW store. when chik fila first opened here, people slept outside over night and it was a major line stretching into traffic. when we got a new magic shop a few months back it had a line. fads happen for a reason and that is: HUMANS LOVE NEW SHIT

rickie woodson

the spell let buffy see magic, there was no magic around joyce, therefore her illness isnt caused by magic

rickie woodson

Rickie, what are you talking about? They literally knew Faith was coming back in a previous episode because the recap went out of its way to show Faith clips. Use your head, come on.

Laura_Ali

ben is the same doctor that treated joyce when she first got sick. to me he is the obvious new potential love interest as riley and buffy are having problems.

rickie woodson

that is so not katherine heigl lol not all white people look alike lol. she is from bring it on, one of the evil cheerleaders. her and the asian girl were always giving shade to torrence

rickie woodson

Lol, it hints at what is coming up in the episode. Like recapping a character we haven’t seen in a while before they reappeared. It was to catch people up that might be tuning in for the first time. Times have changed though, when we used to watch it live they would heavily advertise any guest stars or pivotal story points in “next time on…”, tv guide synopsis, tv ads, anything to guarantee you watch the next week. I think that is why this show had to be extra creative with its twists so there be something cool and interesting that wasn’t spoiled beforehand.

Courtney Scott

Except of course 5x22. Don’t skip that recap. 😁

Alison

how is seeing things they've seen before a spoiler? yall taking this spoiler thing too far. first it was actors now its this lol its as bad as folks calling anything a celeb does "iconic" lol aigoo

rickie woodson

Buffy: the whole show is one big foreshadow. When you have watched it multiple times you pick up on lines, comments, scenes that get extrapolated into story arcs. Things that are happening now or were glossed over in earlier seasons will become major plot points later on. The writing on this show is incredible, which is why the fandom are obsessed and watch it on repeat. Watching you all discover it is truly joyful. Thank you

Monica

Ya know that Despero situation reminded me of an old episode of Dexter's Lab/Dial M for Monkey when there was another intergalactic champion named RASSLOR seeking a real challenger on earth and he was voiced by Randy Savage aka Macho Man! Also Miss Martian is still having PTSD from what she did last time to Kaldur and finding out everything in the process. Furthermore yes that was Virgil Hawkins aka Static Shock, although he's not quite Static yet in this one.

Brandon Gibbs

DESPERO, not destro. destro is from G.I. Joe

rickie woodson

#Sundayrundown #youngjustice Mal is a hero, In the comics he becomes guardian first then gets into a freak accident where his vocal cords and lungs are damaged by a zata beam telaporting accident tnen gets saved by the chef (Doom Patrol) and becomes The hero named "The Herald" where he can open portals with his cyber modifications.

2Tall

In the comic strip, Pooch Cafe, Poncho (the dog) is always trying to come up with a scheme to catapult all cats into the sun.

Ross43

Thanks to whoever gave the heads up to the Normies to skip the recap on Buffy this season due to spoilers. Much appreciated.

Courtney Scott

Oh! I just looked it up. He was the guy with the horn that made portals!

Joel Sasmad

#Sundayrundown #YoungJustice There are quite a few comic books where the solution is throwing something into the sun. In the current X-Men books, people building a robot/A.I. to fight mutants build it in space so they can eject into the sun in case it goes wrong...and it goes wrong.

Rahsaan

Katherine Heigl was in another WB show at the time. Roswell (the original one). WB started having difficulties at this time and they cancelled both Buffy and Roswell after this season. UPN bought both shows as a package deal. So the last two seasons of Buffy was on another network. You guys should react to Roswell. It's kinda good and it's only 3 seasons.

Jontor11

she said she'd get him something nice since micky waved it, and yea Rana got it within the first 10mins, yea knew she would, Chris with his trolling lol

Macs

I completely forgot how well they red herring'd that

Macs

jfc its opening day at THE MAGIC BOX, a mainstay of sunnydale and ya know as Giles says at the start, their is a market for magic since again ya know, Sunnydale

Macs

Buffy: love how Dawn was suddenly portrayed as the creepy villain. A hering as red as Miss Abomination's lipstick. Such a strong episode. The monk's "She doesnt know that" gets me everytime

Chris K.

the gaslighting officially comes to an end, With the dawn situation finally being explained and on top of that, we have the introduction to one of my fav bad guys, aka, not Katherine heigl. I also like that this episode continues to show the growing awkwardness with Buffy and Riley and the uneasy energy in their relationship.

ray s

Mal Duncan is the mission coordinator for the team when Nightwing isn’t, essentially the guy in the chair. You can see him coordinate missions in a few of the S2 episodes. Idk if you remember that episode of teen titans where there was this kid called the Herald who had this magic horn that could open portals, that was Mal.

SeymourAsces

I knew Rana would come through. She was the FIRST to guess Dawn is the key. Although she did lose the bet on Katherine Heigl. Did you pay Mickey the $100? 😂

Alison

I was waiting to see if they would finally catch on to Virgil /Static being introduced in this season lol. And Despero was also in the old Justice League cartoon, I think he was also on The Flash or supergirl..one of the CW shows. Also Mal Duncan was actually DCs first mainstream black superhero. He becomes the 2nd Guardian in the comics and he later gains powers and becomes a pretty powerful hero called The Herald. He was briefly in the old Teen Titans cartoon

flexluthor

Poor Rana, lost $100 so easily lol

Daniel R

Angel is good to go now!

The Normies

@Macs that made me laugh more than it should have

I mean he was born in 18th century ireland, im pretty sure angel uncut exists

Angel uncut had an error after publishing and the editor is working on it. Will update asap!

The Normies

Same for me. 😢

#Sundayrundown #YoungJustice Exactly the reaction I was expecting for “Virgil” lol. So #Funfact the voice actor for impulse “Jason Marsden” Was Virgil’s best friend Richie Foley who later became his Sidekick (Gear) . So it’s kinda technically a little Static Shock reunion
