I can't even express how much I love this story. Everything is beautifully done. Has me absolutely yearning to become an artist.

Now that I’m less flooded by the emotions, some thoughts formed: I loved the Boy standing on the bed, putting him at equal height with Tera. It means so much to me that the Boy’s hand is trembling when he holds Tera’s wrist. The development of the Boy walking over to Tera in chapter 10 and sitting closely, shaky, and now how he reaches out for him. Allowing yourself vulnerability in a moment like this isn’t small emotionally. It shows significant trust, not only in Tera, it’s displaying the Boy trusting himself. In chapter 10 he didn’t know if he could face this. He isn’t pushing the uncertainty away now, he’s going toward it. That leaves me in tears. I struggle with faith and that’s what this is, regardless of religion. The panel of the Boy’s eye is a wonderful transition from the ones in previous chapters 2, 3, 6, 10, 11 and 12 of fear, here it feels like astonishment. What the Boy sees in the stars reminded me first of chapter 10 when he hit Tera with a fry pan and then how in chapter 2 he mistook Muta for a dog when he crashed his bike. These entertained me.(I came back to say that Tera is also a dog riding a bike, don’t know why that didn’t occur to me prior. My mind seems to have transformed him into a raccoon.) The way Tera turned the light on for the Boy in chapter 10 and how he turns it off here. I love the backgrounds. The choices of the assorted dot grids, solid shades or their environment adds to the emotion. I love how you scale things too. That panel in the low corner of the Boy unsure before laying down has him looking so small and frightened. He’s even making himself smaller, holding his arm and taking up less space. It makes me feel how his fear comes from his childhood and he’s back there for a time. On the last page the subtle circles remind me of lens flares in photos. It feels heartwarming and shining. I continue to adore your use of light and darkness. ~ A random bit has been floating around in my head for a while, I feel that Tera could like his scar, that it’s a reminder of the Boy. I have an assortment of facial scars myself and I love them, they show my life.

Thank you to everyone who comments for sharing your opinions, feelings and points of view, it's very enriching! I hadn't commented on the last update because I couldn't define how I felt about the exchange between these 2 boys, but after reading these pages it becomes clear: consideration. Consideration is the examination, things we take into account, or attention we give to someone. I think it illustrates their interactions well, especially Tera's actions towards the boy. He examines him from the beginning of the story, takes into account his fear of the dark and gives him this gift to reassure him. It's not a gift to please, it's a gesture to help the boy overcome his fears, to help him move forward. This consideration also translates into other gestures: “I'll lie down with you” or words: “I'm here, everything is fine”. I think it's beautiful. A few points I'd like to mention: - I find the white paint around the mask's eyes interesting: when they're lying on the bed and Tera is looking at the boy, it accentuates the weight of his gaze, the attention he's giving him. - When the boy takes Tera's wrist to reassure himself, I find it very tender. I hope we'll have another panel where they take each other by the hand, because it's a strong gesture. - I don't think the boy's reaction was too quick when he saw the stars; he reacted immediately and that's consistent with his spontaneous personality. With what tera says about stars seen from rooftops, I'm now waiting for the moment when they're both on a roof to see the real starry sky 😁 - By the way, I like the mirror effect of the “You like it / Yeah” with the previous pages. Where the boy asked in a light tone if Tera liked his cat ears, here the question has more impact. I'm really curious to know what Tera is going to draw in his hand, but we'll have to wait a few weeks 😁. As the chapters go by, we see more and more of two souls in resonance with each other, listening to each other, reassuring each other, helping each other more and more. I can't wait to see them blossom together and love each other. Thank you Pico for telling us such a deep and emotionally interesting story between these two boys!

This update has to be one of my favorites. The way you have built Tera’s personality is a huge aspect of how much I love this story. I think as humans we want someone to understand us and be there but all in the same breath we are shy/scared to let people in. Tera is so vigilant and attentive with the Boy that it makes me love him all the more. Being someone that has lost a parent, it’s weird when your emotions start to play into friendships. Someone there to rebuild that missing love is vital. Amazing update, it was so beautiful and the story of your past makes me happy, as we got to experience this along side you and them. Thank you for all you’ve done, keep up the amazing work!

Mellowcat, that was so touching of you to say. I didn’t intend to cause concern, I will be okay, I probably should have said that. Asking about it was unexpected, thank you for the thought. This is fairly routine for me actually. Generally speaking the months of: July, August, November, December, January, February and March give me grief every year…It’s just a thing that happens. There’s a combination of, unfortunate for me, holidays and anniversaries with chronic(but not life threatening) health issues. It manifests as physical and mental health symptoms that I do have support for and many coping mechanisms. I treasure this place and will be here however I am able.

I just like that because the first time the Boy laid next to Tera was when Tera fell asleep after drinking those sleeping pills and the Boy had his leg draped over Tera while questioning why this all was happening to him. It was very intimate but casual. The next time was after they finished throwing puzzle pieces at each other, the Boy had the back of his head on Tera’s shoulder/chest. This very quiet mutual comfort and affection. Now, the Boy is making the conscious choice to get a little bit closer, blushing and looking up at Tera as he sneaks a few inches closer but not touching. I love that

I love every update of this but watching them grow close is so heart warming. I can't wait to see what Tera is up to in the last panel. I love HOW they need each other. Both looking for a source of comfort and understanding in their own harsh reality. And finding it in an unlikely place. Also, I know it was the last update but his remark that uts "just Tera" rings out how much he TRUSTS Tera. He knows he won't get hurt whereas Joris understands what Tera is capable of and has, obviously by the statement "I told you to leave him out of your messed up shit," been warned. It does such a marvelous job to highlight the duality of Tera.

did I get emotional with this update? I sure did. I read something once that was in the gist of "it's the fact that I know you could hurt me, because you're bigger and stronger and more powerful than I am, but I know that you won't, because you care about me". That's what did it for me. We all know how merciless and cold Tera can be. And then we see him with the Boy, and how attentive and caring and dare I say affectionate he is towards him. The way he moves around him, almost tip-toeing as if walking next to a glass menagerie. This,my friends, is how you create a character that is layered like a masterpiece. And don't get me started on the fact that their level of intimacy is skyrocketing because otherwise I'll be here writing until tomorrow morning. With that being said, thank you again for creating such and amazing work, and sharing it with all of us. Can't wait for the next update! Ps: thanks for the tips on the paint, I'm gonna give it a go since the glowing stars I bought two years ago are not exactly doing what they're supposed to lol

The Boy is such a lively and bubbly personality... I think it is a fair first reaction when he finally opens his eyes. I think there would be an outburst first... and the "let it sink in" realisation afterwards. Seeing how tense and strained he was, lying there, trusting Tera... it must be a relief, and since he has a lot of that anxiety built- up... he's a lot like a taut bowstring, released in that moment. Lots of energy and force. If it weren't for that, the calm and astonishment might have been a first reaction - but with everything he carries in that moment... it's just a "jump and voicing" of that relief and happiness that it is a good thing he opens his eyes to. Beautiful storytelling! And Tera... just wow.

They're so freaking cute!!! I'm too excited for the next update! It's wonderful to see the relationship between them grow. Last update we saw the bond growing and this one we see the boy being a little hesitant to fully trust Tera before allowing him to turn off the lights. It felt like the boy really trusts him now.
