Happy Halloween y'all!!!
Enjoy the UPDATE!
When you open it, it must say "OCT (...)" or it means your device tries to open the old update.
(As always, make sure you properly closed the Patreon app/Safari/Chrome (whatever the PDF opens with, including tabs). If it says the file is now in the owner's trash it means you're trying to open the old link. It can take a few tries but you'll be able to read it don't worry!
Seems like opening it through your mail -> safari (and note the Patreon app) solves the problem.)
Please read the pages first, this post contains spoilers!
My goodness, the pages from the previous update look really great; I adore them! These scenes are incredibly inspiring to me, so I'm putting in the effort to give them a beautiful finish, haha.
So here's the second and final part of this scene. At first, I wasn't very motivated to keep drawing the Boy leaning against the window over and over again. Sometimes storyboarding an immobile scene where the characters don't move can be quite challenging. But in the end, I love the result; there's something very tender about it.
On the first page, with all the Boy's drawings, I really wondered what a child in his situation would have drawn. How he, the Boy, would have used those sheets. So, if you take a closer look, you can see an 11th birthday spent alone (it's a timeline reference point) and several drawings of buildings and plans: Based on his narration, we understand that the Boy didn't immediately grasp that his family had passed away, so he drew plans and showed what his new home and new school looked like so that his loved ones could find him. He probably wanted to send these drawings to them. There's even a note that says 'on the 3rd floor.'
There's also a self-portrait because, at that moment, the Boy had entered a period where he was asked to be someone else. Not knowing who he was anymore, he drew himself, just in case his new self didn't resemble the old one, once again for his parents to identify him. He was just a kid!
To be honest, I know my characters and their backstories so well that everything the Boy conveys, the way he experienced things, just made sense; it couldn't have been any other way, and it all came to me rather easily. The goal was for everything to remain consistent. I found it interesting that he was so confused about the situation, even blaming his grandmother for 'keeping him here' because that's how he interpreted things. It feels like a harsh reality. That's also why he's so scared to be a burden for them now, he knows he didn't make things easy for them at the beginning. It's truly heartbreaking, I believe, to imagine him going through all of that.

Okay so I was about to talk about Tera, because he's clearly very attentive in those scene, and that we now know quite a lot, but I was SOOO chatty that I'll just make another post in the upcoming days "ABOUT TERA", cause there is just too much to say. Stay tuned guys, I want your feedback about it haha.
---
Just a small detail, I really like that Tera continues with the metaphor of the puzzle the Boy had started. It's a sign of listening and understanding. It's very thoughtful.
In the list of "I've done everything to make everything consistent, resonate, and make sense": The fact that the Boy really got into drawing because of that period. He drew so much that it became one of his hobbies (You can even notice that in the boy's drawings, he portrays himself without erasing his face. Interesting huh?). Even the fact that we see a glimpse of his diary will be explored further later on.
I don't know why my brain works like this; it's as if foreshadowing is automatic lol.

On a final note, I'm really happy with the characters I've built, I hope you're enjoying the story too! It's not just about a child missing his deceased parents; it was important to me that it led to a whole development of his personality, that he went through a range of emotions, including sadness, confusion, and anger, and that he now has some distance from all of that. I wanted it to sound very personal and moving.
Hope to read your feedback on this update and on Tera's post that will come like tomorrow or so. So you know Tera's behavior is as complex and profound as the Boy's.
There's still so much to say but I'll let you comment anything you noticed, and I encourage you to read each other's comments, as some have very insightful analyses!
Love you guys, thank you for making it all possible <3
Enjoy your spooky day!
