Going Full-time Indie
Added 2017-10-27 08:48:47 +0000 UTCSo finally it has arrived, my last day at work.
Starting next week I’m switching to hardcore indiedev mode, so you should start seeing some major progress on the game. I’ve been much words and little to show lately, but I assure you that I’ve been working hard on CoS. This full-time thing will boost the development of the game immensely, not just because of the extra time to allot to the project, but also the quality of time - morning time, when I work best.
The plan for my daily routine Monday to Friday is as follows:
* Get up at 6:00
* Exercise
* Breakfast
* Gamedev time 8:00 to 12:00
* Cook & eat lunch
* Take a walk
* Gamedev time 13:00 to 15:00
* Family time
* Possibly more gamedev from 20:00 to 22:00
* Sleep
Saturdays are a mix of gamedev and family time, while usually I don’t work on sundays.
There, my plans are exposed, now to conquer the world.
P.S. I would kindly ask you to spread the word on the project among those, who may be interested in classic role-playing games. I plan to run a crowdfunding campaign in less than a year’s time and I need all the word of mouth I can get. Thank you!

That's interesting, I'll have to look into this API and figure out if I want to do some kind of integration. Certainly it sounds like a nice idea. Not sure about early access though. I see it tough-going for RPGs to follow that model.

2017-10-27 12:54:22 +0000 UTCThat's great! I'm just about to do Patreon integration for Pixel Art Academy. They have an API so I can automaticall transfer all the contributions to people's accounts (store credit) and they can use the balance to purchase the game. And I'll also give people access to at least the basic game while they're patrons, no matter their contribution (but they'll lose it if they stop being patrons and they haven't bought it yet, so it's sort of a demo you can buy for $1 … or early access/demo alpha). For you, once you have something playable, for example combat or any other non-story gameplay that is fun, I'd start a classic alpha funding campaign as Wolfire did for Overgrowth. Or Minecraft, which started free (prototype), then something like $5 (pre-alpha), $13 (alpha), $25 (beta). But yeah, I guess this is just called Early Access today. Better than Kickstarter IMO.

2017-10-27 11:56:26 +0000 UTCI have yet to figure out the whole alpha/beta thing. Thought about doing it for the upcoming crowdfunding campaign, but perhaps should include it as a tier here on Patreon as well.

2017-10-27 09:41:37 +0000 UTCI have updated the text of the Patreon campaign to give a copy of the game to patrons pledging a total of $30. It is only fair to those supporting me to get the game in the end.

2017-10-27 09:41:07 +0000 UTCWell, if you are worried about the funding maybe there is a way that we can preorder the game so you get the money and we get the game at the end. Not a kickstarter, more like a - paynow and have access to all the alphas
