Added 2025-01-10 01:06:40 +0000 UTCI had a 10 minute panic making this where I couldn't locate my script. It's found thank god. Looks like they've been able to fashion some possum skin cloaks. Tragically by this point the indigenous tribes of Tasmania had been largely genocided. A past which this story doesn't really go into. If you're interested in a heartbreaking and riveting history of the destruction on the Tasmanian indigenous peoples, "Truganini" is a great book. Tasmania has in recent years put some effort into recognition of it's past and when I visit I think they've been doing a pretty good job with awareness at least, at least in cultural centers. Dispite the genocide, Indigenous people still exist in Tasmania, due largely do to Colonial Sealers having a nasty habit of kidnapping women from tribes and making them their uh... wives? As awful as it is this is what's kept bloodlines who continue traditional culture alive in Tasmania. It's really complex and obviously I'm no expert.
