Nut.

As I think I mentioned in much earlier pages, in the pre-defined/medicalised era of homosexuality, it wasn't uncommon for homosexual relationships to take on somewhat gendered roles as that would be their entire framework for what a relationship including a sexual nature and intense emotional connection could be. This was made very evident in the time leading to the Cooking Pot Riot on Norfolk Island, where it was noted that approximately 300 prisoners were living in exclusive pairs referring to one another as "husband and wife." The letter penned in the first pages of this comic was written by one of the executed leaders of said riot.

The center panels are loosely based on Tom Roberts portraits, one of his first wife and frame maker Elizabeth Sarah Roberts, and then one of his self-portraits.

This is truly exquisite. If absolutely nothing else, I am so glad for the glimpses into history that you've provided with your commentary as these pages are released. The frames with the missing spaces mirroring one another evoke something I don't think I have the skill to articulate, but it's wonderful.
