We could see half a spaceship sticking up from the rocky roads of Nevada as we drove our yellow hummer, looking for more aliens to kill. All of the spaceships were gone from the skies, but not from Earth.
There was talk of heading out toward Texas, maybe Austin, as Bubblegum has family there and insisted it was the best city in existence. Since that first day when it had all gone down, we had been strengthening our bonds with each stop, traveling in broad, sweeping patterns and trying to keep our noses on what was happening on the ground. Military and police forces were doing their best to round up the aliens who had made it through. The invaders who’d escaped their fallen ships and gone into hiding or roamed around, trying to do damage while waiting for reinforcements or another invasion.
Not likely to happen, to my knowledge. The enemy had been beaten back, defeated, and with the help of the supers we had seen on the news, it hadn’t even taken long to accomplish. Thing is, the military and police couldn’t cover all of Earth, so groups like ours had to step up. In many places militia had formed defensive zones, but many of them had been taken out and some even converted. Aliens with mind-control powers had caused humans to rise up, and at one point a small town outside of Vegas had been fully under their control.
That had only lasted about two days, as both sides attacked each other until we arrived. Unlike the police, Ria knew that the humans were gone by that point. We’d taken the aliens and their subjects out, and moved on. An unsettling thought, but it was necessary.
“When this is over, what do you suppose we’ll do?” Bubblegum asked. “I mean, no way in hell am I going back to waiting tables or dancing.”
“Keep doing this,” Meher suggested. “Hunting bad guys, kicking ass.”
“You’re saying we’ll become like a team of vigilantes?” I asked, and laughed. “Become a team of superheroes or something?”
“No reason not to,” Ria cut in.
Gloria nodded. “Sounds like fun.”
“Sure, but not very practical.” I couldn’t believe we were actually considering it, but as we drove I realized we could serve Earth and make it a better place. The idea of actual superheroes meting out justice was silly, but… kind of awesome? “Fuck that,” I corrected myself, “let’s do it.”
“Of course, the real question isn’t when, but if,” Ria noted. “For all we know, we’ll clean this place up the same day another invasion hits. Or who knows, right? Now that Earth is aware of another force out there, maybe Earth will attack. Maybe there will be a whole series of counter-attacks, or a planned expansion into space that we don’t know about.”
“We could always search out that other group of supers,” Meher suggested. “Join them. Form a sort of coalition or whatever.”
My mind was spinning with all this, so I was glad for the change of topic when Bubblegum held a hand to her ear and said, “Wait, I’ve got something.”
A strange, but welcome side effect of her alien-based cybernetic arm had been that she was now able to pick up signals and even police and military communications. The scary implication of her enhancement was that the enemy had it too. But we were optimistic that not too many of the advanced alien attackers were still around listening to encrypted communications.
“Where?” Gloria asked, at the wheel.
“Shit, it cut out. But…” Bubblegum pointed the way, and gave directions as we drove. Before long, we pulled up to a stop near a large, red rock, and climbed out of the car. We jogged over to the edge, and had a look to the area below.
There were two of them, one an incubus and one a succubus, both looking similar to Renate but with curvy, goat style horns and leathery, bat-like wings. Nude, as all of these bastards liked to be, and as Ria had been when we first met. They were feasting on the corpses of a man and his dog, which was disturbing on so many levels. I looked forward to this fight the moment my stomach churned and bile rose into my mouth.
“Ready?” Ria asked.
I grinned. “You know it.”
“See if you all can get a hit in before I finish this,” Death Girl challenged, and then was running and jumping from the rock to the ground below.
“Fuck that.” Ria followed, wings now healed enough for her to jump and glide down toward our prey.
Bubblegum lifted her cyber-arm, ready to shoot, Meher attempting to pull on her ice power but having a hard time of it in the desert sun. Not enough humidity in the air. Gloria and I took off running, though, hoping to catch up with Death Girl and get our hits in.
Halfway there, Ria and Death Girl had already made contact. To our luck—in terms of wanting to get in on the action—the enemy couple wasn’t an easy kill. As Death Girl spun with her pointed batons, striking fast and darting about them, one took to the sky while the other was a flurry of fast strikes. Shots rang out from Bubblegum, knocking the airborne incubus back down though not wounding him, and Ria tackled the succubus, so that they were a mass of flesh and wings, horns, bursts of magic, and sand being kicked up.
Gloria and I got into the fight as Death Girl managed a good stab into the back of the incubus’s thigh, so that I was able to pull at his exposed blood and make it solid, snaking up to his throat to strangle him. A nifty little trick I had been wanting to try. He lashed out and I braced myself, absorbing the hit and feeling the pain, but storing the energy for a counter-attack. His strike hit Gloria in her defended mode, so that she took it and kept going, taking him in a bear hug and squeezing as my blood magic kept draining him.
Another stab by Death Girl took him in the throat, and this time Meher’s power cut in, causing his blood to freeze, even moving the freezing effect into his body, so that within seconds he dropped, dead, body going from red to purple.
The woman shrieked, still in a fight with Ria, getting shot at from Bubblegum every time she moved away. Her eyes showed worry as she processed that she was in danger, then blood as one of her eyes exploded from a good shot by Bubblegum.
“Nice one!” I shouted, and leaped into action, using that blood to connect. I figured I couldn’t burn her from the inside because she’s a succubus, so instead I absorbed heat from the blood, then thrust with my power to make her blood expand. Suddenly she was puffing up like a blow fish, looking sick.
“Don’t do it,” Ria shouted. “You sick fuck, you’ll get us all covered in her blood!”
“Good point,” I muttered, releasing the power in a way that caused the succubus to collapse to the ground, skin hanging loose like a deflated balloon. “Also, no need for name calling.”
“Sorry, got carried away.” Ria lunged forward, grabbed the succubus by the head, and tore it off. Kicking away the head, she frowned at her bloodied hands. “Do you mind?”
I gave her an arched eyebrow.
“Do you mind, Mr. Sexy Awesomesauce?” She titled her head, then added, “Whose humongous cock I’d like to—”
“Okay, okay, overboard,” I said, using my power to make the blood leave her hands and splatter across the sand.
I was about to ask what the situation could have been here, when a woman came around the rocks, blood already on her arm from a nasty cut at her shoulder. She stared in shock at the bodies on the ground before running over. “Shit, shit!” She kicked the dead incubus in his exposed junk, then again and again, before turning to see Ria there. “Oh, fuck no!”
“It’s okay,” I said, hands up. “She’s with us.”
“She’s one of them!”
“No, she’s not.”
The woman eyed Ria, then me, then the rest of the group. “What the fuck are you all?”
“Hunters,” Bubblegum replied, and Gloria grunted in approval.
I nodded. “We’re hunting down invaders, taking them out one by one.”
“You’re right to worry,” Ria added. “I used to be one of them, but that was before the invasion.”
“She’s killed her fair share, proven her loyalty to Earth,” Gloria explained. “All of us have. And you?”
The woman cocked her head, eyes darting to each of us, and she nodded. “Right, right. Sure. You want me to express my appreciation? Show I can help defend Earth?”
“A room would be nice, for a start,” I said. “We’ve been driving and fighting, could use some rest. At least a shower.”
“I can do that.” The woman indicated the road, then some rocks to the right. “Take a right past that there, then you’ll see our town not so far off. Not a big group, no authorities giving a damn about us. A couple spaceships attempted crash-landings in the area, so we’ve had a time of it. As you can see by ol’ Ricky here.” She eyed the fallen man and his dog. “We were on our way to see if we could find help.”
“You found it,” I said. “At least, temporary help.”
“Yeah?” She eyed us again, then nodded. “Look for Theo at the motel there, he’ll get you room ten. Best in the place, and plenty of vacancy.”
“Thanks.” I gave her a nod, motioning the others back toward the hummer. “We’ll see you there?”
“You might. But first, I’ve got some burying to do.”
“We’ll help,” Gloria offered.
“No, get to town. This… this is something I gotta do alone.”
We left the scene of carnage after a small debate in the hummer, wondering if it was okay to leave her out here on her own. Bubblegum argued that she couldn’t be on her own if she had picked up on some communication that led us there, but when we found the first sheriff’s car and body, followed by a line of dead militia men and a couple of women, we knew.
The incubus and succubus couple had done some dirty work, and maybe the woman would be safe, maybe she wouldn’t. I insisted we circle back around, but by the time we did, she had taken a pistol to herself, half buried with the man and dog.
“Fuck,” I said, motioning for Gloria to get us back to town. “I didn’t see that coming.”
“Times like these, you kind of have to expect the worst,” Bubblegum said. “Haven’t you ever seen that old Walking Dead stuff?”
“We’re hardly in a zombie apocalypse,” I countered.
She shrugged. “Eh, not so different.”
I couldn’t agree with her on that, but didn’t want to get into an argument about it. We made it to town in under twenty minutes, found the people to be hospitable once we mentioned what had happened, and soon were being led by a large girl named Dorothy over to room ten.
“Mom and Pop are sleeping,” she explained as she unlocked the room for us. “But you need something, let me know. Oh, and you get hungry, just follow your nose.”
At that, she handed over the keys, looked me up and down with a hungry smile, and then headed back to her desk and television.
“Follow your…?” I started to ask, when the scent of barbecue hit me. “Hot damn, that smells good.” I went to the corner of the building, and sure enough there was smoker at work. I could practically taste brisket in my watering mouth.
“The smell of the barbeque…” Death Girl started. “It’s… too much.”
She was in full on Death Girl mode, metallic skin, glowing gold skull under a faceplate, but it wasn’t hard to figure out that something was wrong. Before I had a chance to ask, though, Ria motioned to the beds and said, “Get some rest, I’m going to patrol the area. Anyone coming with?”
“I could stretch my legs after all that driving,” Gloria said, and then nudged Bubblegum. “Come on, you two.”
“Meher?” I asked.
She glanced between them, then to Death Girl, pursing her lips in thought. Apparently, she sensed something off with Death Girl, too, because she finally said, “I’ll leave you two to chat. And get the first round of sleep, if you’re feeling it.”
“Thanks.”
“You two behave now,” Gloria said with a chuckle, following Ria out the door.
“Be careful,” I shouted after them. When the door was closed, I turned back to Death Girl. “You don’t like it? Barbecue, I mean.”
Death Girl glanced my way, then back to the window. “I fucking love it.”
“Sorry, but I don’t get the problem.” Stepping close, I wrapped my arms around her from behind, pressing my lips to her neck—yes, the cold, metallic neck. As far as I was concerned, this was still her.
“It brings back too many memories.” Her hands found mine. “A friend, this little thing who was practically anorexic, though she called it some fancy name—whatever the diet of the day was, I guess. This girl, Lacy, she was all about her diet unless there was good barbecue. One day she comes to me, asks if I’ll take a road trip with her to find the best barbecue in the States. She wanted to drive down through Kansas City, make our way to Austin, I don’t know…. Don’t even know if she had any idea where good barbecue was, other than the main stops. But that probably wasn’t the point.”
“Sounds like a good memory.”
“Sure, until the part when I told her I couldn’t go. When I found out a month later, after biting my nails with worry when I hadn’t heard from her in a few days… when I found out she had been in an accident, that she was never coming back.”
“Fuck.”
“Worst part?” Death Girl sighed, face turning back to its flesh version for a moment, long enough to blink back a tear. “Fucking didn’t even make it to the first barbecue stop.”
“This one’s for her.” I nodded to the place.
Death Girl considered me, nodded, and went full woman mode on me. Nude, arms wrapped around my neck, eyes staring at me with an intense desire. “For her, but first… let me do this, for me.”
She pushed me back to the bed, pulling my shirt up and over my head, kissing my chest. We had grown closer recently, but still, this felt like it was coming from somewhere else.
I took her face, turning it toward me. “Are you okay?”
“With you, I am.” Her hand found mine, brought it up to kiss my fingers, then moved it aside so that she could keep kissing me.
I lay back, closing my eyes to enjoy it, and found my mind filling with images of fights, making love, flying… Yup, I fucking fell asleep.
With a start, I opened my eyes to see Death Girl staring at me. She laughed, shaking her head. “Really?”
“I was exhausted,” I admitted. “Did we…?”
“Fuck? Did you cum in my mouth?” She laughed again. “Sorry, but when a man falls asleep, I tend to stop.”
“Hey, this isn’t exactly fair. You don’t need sleep… I do.”
She nodded, giving in to that. “Fine, one last chance then. Fall asleep this time, and I’m not going to forgive you.”
“Deal,” I said as she started to move to go down on me. “Hey, you don’t have to…” I started, but her mouth around my cock shut me up real fast.
“I want to,” she said, taking it out long enough to speak, and then was back at it, my cock stiffening in her mouth.
After a moment of loving it, I noticed my eyes start to close again—not by choice. I flipped her over and instead started kissing her body. Honestly, I was still tired and thought that if I lay there letting her pleasure me, the risk of sleep was real. Instead, I kissed her breasts, her stomach, her thighs, and tasted the sweetness between her legs.
She moaned, pulling me up, and said, “I want you.”
“You have me,” I replied.
“No, I mean… want you. Now. Fuck me.”
I took a moment to process that, but quickly rose to the challenge. Finding my cock and sliding it into her pussy, I stared into her eyes as I lowered my hips and felt her tightness around me. She pulled tight on me, fingers at one point starting to go metallic with a Death Girl grip and causing me to yelp in pain.
“You don’t like that?” she asked.
I shook my head. “Not so much. At least, not to that extent.”
“Noted,” she said, and then pushed me back, told me to lift her and fuck her, so I did, glad my strength allowed it, and soon we were fucking like animals, me drenched with sweat and her rolling her head back, letting out a long, satisfied moan.
“You two okay?” Ria asked, sliding the door open, sticking her head in. When she saw us, she started to withdraw. “Oh, sorry. The others are finishing checking the perimeter, and I wanted to see if you, well… never mind. I’ll—”
“Don’t go,” Death Girl said.
“Huh?” Ria stuck her head back in. I turned in surprise, too.
“Just… come here. Join us.” Death Girl nodded, as if the words weren’t enough.
Ria’s eyes met mine, then went back to Death Girl, and she nodded, slipping in, silently closing the door behind her. Again, she hesitated.
“Fucking get in here,” Death Girl said, and laughed. “Before I change my mind.”
Ria entered, intrigued, and ran a hand along Death Girl’s back, stopping to slap her on the ass.
Death Girl chuckled, sliding off of me and gesturing for Ria. “I want to watch.”
“Get a good view,” Ria said, turning to kiss me, tongue darting about hungrily, hands caressing me as she dropped her yellow flowered dress to the ground. She pushed me to the bed, riding me as Death Girl knelt at our side, running her hand through my hair and watching.
“Damn, that’s sexy,” Death Girl said, and then bent over to kiss me. She brought her breasts up to my face, then one nipple to my mouth, and ran her hands down to hold the base of my shaft while Ria fucked me, then started caressing Ria.
Ria motioned her close, so that they started kissing, then Death Girl was gripping her breast, squeezing as Ria climaxed, and the sight of it brought me to new levels of orgasm as well. As we all three lay there catching our breath, we shared a giddy smile. Finding joy in times like these was necessary amid all the death from the invasion and its aftermath.
“We’ll bring in the rest, next time,” Death Girl said. “Baby steps.”
“Something wrong about comparing this to baby steps,” I said with a chuckle.
Instead of waiting, we dressed and decided it was time to eat. Outside, the sun was nearing the horizon, the scent of barbecue even stronger in the air than it had been before. We found the rest of the team keeping watch, Meher grinning in our direction when she saw us emerge.
“You smell like sex,” she said, caressing my cheek. “Which is saying something, considering how strong that barbecue smell is.”
“Guilty,” I said with a laugh. “Ready to eat?”
“Fuck yes.”
We made our way to the barbecue pit, where the dude had set the whole thing in a gravel parking lot. He was chilling on a lawn chair, drinking a beer and watching the sky as we approached.
“What’cha got?” I asked.
“Best meat this side of the Mississippi,” he replied, then gestured at the clouds. “Fucking aliens, huh? You with them, or us?”
I glanced over to see that Ria and Death Girl looked very out of place, not even bothering with their cloaking or illusion powers. Even Bubblegum had that crazy cyborg arm that gave her an out-of-this-Earth look.
“Earth, all the way,” I replied. “We’re actually hunting the invaders down.”
“No shit? You can do that?”
“We are.”
“You seen any around?” Bubblegum asked, cocking the rifle in her arm.
The corner of the guy’s mouth went up. “Shi—it, no. I see one of them not walking around with an Earther, I hit him with ol’ Cindy there.”
“Cindy?” I asked.
He nodded to his shotgun, which I now saw tucked under the chair. “Named after this bitch I took to Prom. A real ball buster, just like that bad boy.”
“Good thing that there aren’t any around,” Gloria said. “Wouldn’t want to interrupt what’s about to go down.”
“You mean this meat, into my belly?”
“How much you want?” the guy asked, eyeing Ria uncertainly.
“Imagine how much you think you could eat if you were starved, then give us about five times that.”
He chuckled. “You must be fucking hungry.”
“We are.”
When he had ourselves some brisket, tri-tip, and a couple sausages, we made our way back to our room, hunkered down, and went to town on the feast. That meat didn’t stand a chance. I wasn’t sure which was hotter, the fact that Death Girl went straight-up nude hottie while eating, or that her lips and fingers were covered in barbecue sauce without giving a shit. She was truly eating like her memories of her friend depended on it, and when she glanced my way, I took another slap of tri-tip, tearing off a bite with a nod her way. Hot damn, it was good, too. The right amount of seasoning, and melting like butter in my mouth.
“I had no idea Earthers could eat like this,” Ria said, working on her second sausage, holding it in a way that left no room for the imagination. She even sucked on it a second before taking a bite. Tease. If I hadn’t just gotten my brains fucked out by them all, I’d be yearning right then.
Gloria laughed. “This? Yeah, we’re doing damage, but this ain’t nothing. Hang out with my girls back home, right after competition day? They’ve been going through all this trouble to lose weight for a fight or a contest, so they look good on camera and can make their weigh in… then it’s suddenly over. They devour steaks the size of Death Girl’s ass.”
Death Girl looked over at her, swallowed, and stood up to show us her ass. “This big, right here?”
“Let me see,” Ria said, and wiped a smidge of barbecue sauce on it before leaning over and licking the sauce off. “Yeah, I’d eat that up.”
Death Girl grinned, eying me.
“No way,” I said, guessing at what was going on in her mind. “You put barbecue sauce on me, I’m worried you’ll forget what’s going on and try to take a bite.”
“Come on,” she said, and rubbed a bit of sauce on the side of her breast, tracing it up to her nipple. She came over, straddling me and setting my meat aside so that I could lick her breast. I had to admit, barbecue sauce and titties went well together. Better than chocolate sauce or whipped cream, both of which were too sweet for my taste buds.
“Dammm, that’s hot,” Gloria said, before taking another bite of her brisket.
Meher knelt at my side, facing Death Girl. “My turn.”
Death Girl eyed her with uncertainty, but nodded, this time, rubbing the sauce on her waist, closer to her cleanly shaved pussy. Meher went for it, tongue along the hip, moving down to her thigh to finish it off.
A shudder ran through Death Girl, and she lifted a leg, putting her foot between my legs, right underneath my package, giving Meher full access to keep going. I watched as Meher’s tongue found Death Girl’s clit, then her fingers found her opening.
After a few seconds of this, Death Girl moved her toes, eyeing the bulge clearly evident in my pants, and laughed. “Looks like you’re ready for some sauce.”
Meher moved aside, wiping her chin, and Death Girl knelt, unzipping my pants. “You want to help me out here?” she said to Meher. “There’s a lot of meat, and I’m a bit full.”
A laugh escaped Meher’s lips, but she nodded.
They pulled out my cock, which was ready for round two. A bit of barbecue sauce on the top of the head, and Death Girl took the first slow, sensual lick. Next, she ran some along the shaft—cold—holding it while Meher leaned in and slurped it up.
“You all are crazy,” Bubblegum said, taking a gulp of water.
“No comments from the peanut gallery,” Death Girl said, and gave her a wink before putting barbecue on my balls and licking that off. Next she put it some on the left, some on the right, and motioned Meher in. The Indian woman went down on one ball, Death Girl on the other, and they met in the middle in a mixture of tongue and cock, going between kissing each other to licking my shaft and back again.
When I finally came for the second time that day, both of them were there to take it, licking it off of each other’s faces. The others were staring with humoring grins, I imagined looking forward to their next turn. At that moment, at least as far as I was concerned, I was spent.
Death Girl had certainly broken out of her shell, and I was glad to have been part of that immergence. I still felt a bit odd, tucking away my cock after a room of women had watched me and not been involved. Something about the idea that when a woman touched it or fucked it, being exposed was fine, but otherwise hanging out made me uncomfortable so I secured my meat.
A shout sounded outside, then the unmistakable sound of a shotgun going off.
“Here goes,” Bubblegum said, already up and going for the door. “Coming?”
“Fuck, not this time,” Meher said, frowning my way. “You owe me.”
“With pleasure,” I said, annoyed at the bit of wetness that had spilled out into my boxer-briefs.
As Death Girl transformed into her deathly self, we charged out. The door had slammed shut behind the last of us, when the barbecue server’s head went flying and slammed against the window. It created cracks, but bounced off and rolled a few feet away.
I looked from it to the culprits. Before us, about to dig into what was left in the smoker, was a line of those fucking Grondlen goat people. At their center, though, seemingly leading them, was a tall, slender man in what looked to me like a space marine’s getup.
“Who’s that?” I asked.
Ria snarled, teeth bared. “One of your own. A traitor, it’d appear.”
The figure eyed us, and after a moment his faceplate pulled back to reveal it was true. There was a man under all that armor, his stark blonde hair making me wonder if he was albino, but his dark brown eyes contradicted that that idea.
“Why?” I asked, loud enough for him to hear.
“You’re asking me why I’ve chosen their side?” the Marine asked, stepping toward me. “You, who have never served on the fringe, who know nothing of what it’s like out there?”
“Me, who has fought enough of them to know their side is full of assholes. Yes.”
He scoffed. “Power in a world where power means everything. And trust me, they have the power. Us, all we have is our self-righteous pricks, motherfuckers who think they stand a chance against that.”
“And they’ve granted you power in exchange for your soul.” I nodded, having met plenty of his kind in my day, though never on this level. My old boss at the diner, for example, before I had taken his job as supervisor. He only got where he was by being an asshole. I turned to my team and said, “He’s mine.”
“But—” Ria started, only to stop as my eyes met hers. She nodded.
I turned back to this traitor and walked toward him, hands in fists. My rifle was back in the car, or maybe in the motel room, I didn’t care. This guy was going to get a beating. Fucking traitor.
He chuckled, faceplate going back up, and motioned his Grondlen forward. I was perfectly fine with that, letting them hit me, loving the pain of each strike, the way my vision showed me my punch-power was coming, and then I rolled out from among them, came up to this asshole, and landed a glowing punch square in that faceplate of his. The faceplate shattered, the surrounding metal denting inward, and blood flowed.
I didn’t let the blood get far, turning instead to send it out as spears into the Grondlen. Each and every one of them fell, dead. A glance back showed the Marine twitching. Wait, fuck that—he had betrayed his people, his world, even. I think that about cancelled out the “Once a Marine, always a Marine” saying. So no, not Marine. Bitchass motherfucker seemed a better fit. I watched the bitchass motherfucker twitch. A drowning sound came from his throat, and then he went limp.
“Honestly, I thought that would be a bit more difficult,” I admitted, turning back to my ladies.
“Remind everyone out there not to fuck with our man,” Bubblegum said with a grin, and Meher ran over, throwing her arms around me and giving me a kiss on the cheek.
“For Lacy,” Death Girl said, and held out her hands, balls of light floating up to her as she collected the souls of those on the ground. “The barbecue here was good, but I want to try it in other places. A road trip.”
“You want to follow the path she was going to take?” I asked.
“Headed that way, right?” Death Girl shrugged. “Point is to hunt down any straggling alien bastards we can, so yeah, might as well.”
“Might as well,” I agreed.
“Might as well,” the others chimed in, and Bubblegum sent an extra shot into the last of the dying Grondlen before we made our way out of there.
Alien hunters. Soon to be barbecue connoisseurs. All around badasses.
Me and my team, living it up.
The End
