About the spiritual vibe in the last one… to me, I think that's just the foundation for the mystery. In a way, it kind of reminds me of a Japanese series called 'Trick', which is kind of similar… the humour is in the the odd relationship dynamic between the two recurring characters, one of whom is an investigator and the other a magician; while the drama side comes from the murders they solve together. But in that series, the investigator is a university professor whose research has led him to an obsession with debunking fake psychics/mystics/supernatural stuff … so they encounter this kind of case a lot more.

2024-08-31 14:39:43 +0000 UTCI LOVE this episode. The guest stars really add to it and it's such an interesting and unlikely story but it's genuinely baffling until the last minute and it has such a fascinating resolution. Jonathan's mind is unusually sharp and very few could ever work something like this out - it's such a far fetched series of events, even by Jonathan Creek standards, but the cast and David Renwick's brilliant writing just make it work. This is definitely in my top 5 Creek episodes I think! Terrific reaction, Josh! The excellent Margery Mason who played Aunt Audrey was 86 here but lived a further 14 years and passed away aged 100.
