2024-08-11 13:48:01 +0000 UTCReally pleased you dug out the dvd for this one Josh (didn’t even realise it existed!) at first I remember being disappointed that they basically retconned all the good things that made Season 3’s ending feel like a great send off. Andy’s house, Lance and Toni, Simon and Garfunkel actually being good people deep down inside 😅. I feel like they wrote these things into this special to throw everyones perception about what actually happened after the final episode…like you said, painted a picture in your head, and that start flips everything to what you had originally expected. But once the new story kicks into gear, and that ending is just fantastic writing, again paints a fresh picture in your head of an even better resolution. You would imagine Lance in 3 weeks time coming to chuck out Stan’s “treasure” and spotting the Holy Grail 😅. Part of me would love to see that aftermath but knowing the writers, they’d probably retcon that to be just a regular pot in the end and nothing came of it. I noticed everyones voice sounded deeper when you mentioned it bizarrely, maybe that’s what 5 years does to you lol. Still hope one day you do the People Just Doing Nothing movie, as as an actual ending to a show, that was 10x better than the real ending. 👍

It never feels it has to have the sitcom big gag every other line, and strolls along at it’s own gentle pace. That said, the biggest star of the show is the ancient countryside of the UK, which is beautifully shot throughout the seasons. Have thoroughly enjoyed your reactions, Josh. This has been such a delightful Sunday morning treat for the last few months.

University Challenge features teams of current students at university. Renowned for extremely difficult questions, most people will be lucky to get 1 or 2 correct each week. So calling them ignoramuses is quite funny as they're all ridiculously clever for mostly 18-21 year olds. My record is 18 correct answers about 7 years ago. You should check out an episode to see just how tricky it is
