Fallen Máni: Divinity

A knock on the window, and Jonathan let Manuel in.

"How did the trip go?" he asked, hugging his boyfriend and kissing him.

"Spectacular" Manuel answerred, "Silvia will send you the pics-"

"She already did!"

And indeed, a picture of Ginnungagap was on Jonathan's phone.

"Sneaky little bastard."

"Thanks to her, though, I can be with you when you go."

"Aw."

Manuel kissed Jonathan, but noticed his boyfriend was crestfallen.

"What's the matter, babe?"

Jonathan sat on his bed, patting the side to invite Manuel in. He did, hugging his mortal boyfriend from behind.

"I know we've talked about this before, but you're a god and I'm just-"

"A wonderful person who has nothing to worry about" Manuel cut him, "Babe, we'll be together forever. I can grow old with you if you want, and after that we can do whatever you want."

"What if I want a peaceful void? A-as a hypothetical, of course; some say immortality isn't good for the human mind."

"There's plenty of evidence to the contrary" Manuel said.

"I know but-"

"Yeah, I get it."

Now it was Manuel's turn to be crestfallen.

"If that's what you want, then you'll get it. But I'd miss you."

Tears welled in Manuel's eyes, and Jonathan felt compelled to lay a hand of his love's.

"Hey, I'm just being dumb. Of course I'll be with you forever."

"Most couples say that."

"We're not most couples."

Manuel giggled, but the sadness remained. Jonathan touched his lover's cheek, and stared him in the eyes.

"I meant it when I said that was a hypothetical. It was dub of me."

"B-but it's okay-"

"No, that was just dumb. Even if things don't work out - which I seriously doubt, btw - I'll do my best to always be with you."

"Promise?"

"I vow."

"You know, you shouldn't vow something like that. A vow is apparently a big deal among the magical stuff."

"Then I vow twice."

"You dork."

Manuel punched him playfully. They both laughed, and their doubts were gone.

They were meant to be, not by fate, but forever the same.
