Life's Too Short: Season 1 Episode 4 Steve Carell

Comments

The problem with it is that the humour is quite lazy and cheap compared to Extras and especially The Office. I reckon if it hadn't been by Steve and Ricky it would've received much better reviews though. The quality of what they'd written before counted against them here, because there are some real high points in some of these episodes. Helena Bonham Carter's scene is one of the most ridiculous things Steve and Ricky ever wrote, and Liam Neeson's great too. Johnny Depp crying at the two of them being mean to actors...it has its moments for sure.

It definitely has a different feel to it than the others show they have done but I am enjoying it.

Yea this one doesn't seem as popular as the other shows by Ricky but I am really enjoying it.

LOL that was hilarious.

The assistant/estate agent scene is amazing lmao - "when he's playing", "are microwaves radioactive?", "whats this? ohh" hahahahaha

Agree with the comments that this is a brilliant show. Understandable that it wasn't on everyone's "radar", as it inexplicably got mixed to poor reviews at the time, so many people didn't really bother with it. I assume most people were just getting bored of Gervais' typical cynical style of comedy at the time, as Warwick character especially is not far removed from David Brent. Personally I think Warwick Davis is the absolute star of this, and doesn't get nearly enough praise for his comedic acting.

Such a funny show, having said that, it's not quite as tight as The Office or Extras. Those shows were so intricately planned out though, so it's almost unfair to compare, but it did kind of show that Gervais & Merchant didn't give this show as much care and attention as their earlier works. I'm not complaining though, because like I said, this show is full of so many hilarious moments, it would be good to see Warwick do more comedy again.

Ben

I'd only ever watched this once before and now I'm wondering why, as it is unbelievably funny. I've just brought a copy for the many many rewatches I will have to do over the forthcoming years. When Warwick was climbing the bookcase, I completely lost it. Full on chest hurting, tears in eyes laughter. My god, Warwick is an absolute comedy G!

Daryl

I can't believe this show wasn't even on my radar... That's the beauty of this Patreon channel, to discover new shows... Warwick is such a good physical actor!

Don't forget Josh, that you missed S4, EP7 of last weeks Men Behaving Badly when you do today's reaction video to it πŸ‘

Also the estate agent showing Warwick the flat, was also the interviewer in the Extras Special in the scene where Ricky is pretending to talk to Ridley Scott on the phone. Or Wrigley Scott as Maggie says πŸ˜…

Danny

Josh, you've seen his assistant before, she played Smell in This is England, the film you watched. She was the older girlfriend of the young lad Shaun. You were wondering about their age gap etc.

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Funny that they mentioned Warwick in Extras, as they DID mention him as Warwick. Thats when Steves character said "oo funny little name to πŸ˜„" . He is in the Daniel Radcliffe episode
