Porridge: Season 3, Episode 6 Final Stretch

Comments

If they'd written more episodes or series they might have gotten round to those storylines you mentioned. It's a shame UK series only have 6 episodes.

are you going to be doing the follow up series going straight

gerry

Yes, it's been on the long show poll.

Keith Pratt

Great series , has rising damp been suggested before ?

Tuts Tut

When we voted Porridge in, it was for 21 episodes. Without reacting to the pilot, Josh has watched 20 of them. It wouldn't be unfair at all if we got one more week.

Keith Pratt

Same ElvisLee, you'd be surprised how common it is.

Jonny

Personaly i want this is England 86 to win but i doubt it will

jonny bowerbank

Who would object? Its the pilot.

Colin Bayley

It just staggers me when I watch Richard Beckinsale knowing he died at the age of 32. A heart attack at that age must be extremely rare.

ElvisLee

It's got to be Going Straight, surely.

ElvisLee

Yeah, itโ€™s here. https://youtu.be/iYcBT7Edt4E Was hoping it would be shown between series 2 and 3 as an extended episode, but there were objections. Doubt itโ€™ll see the light of day now unfortunately, Perhaps going straight could go on the poll (only 6 episodes) bundled with the film, to be shown on week 1 ? Just a suggestion.

Gary Tamblyn

It is a great show, I enjoyed it. Lol I ha e been wanting to watch that for a while so I do hope it wins.

I will add those to my list, thanks for the recommendations.

After Work Reactions

Thanks for the recommendation bud I will add that to my list.

After Work Reactions

After watching Porridge Josh, I would highly recommend Open all hours and Dad's army.

Daniel French

Forgot how good Porridge is, has been a very enjoyable blast from the past! Now for the Patrons to do the right thing and vote for... Darkplace!

Joe Gardiner

Was this a long show or short show? Can't remember which poll is due next.

Ben

I've really enjoyed revisiting Porridge on here with you Josh, thanks so much. As others have said, it would be a shame not to watch the film and Going Straight, as they're part of the same show. Maybe you could put them on the poll combined, 1 series + the film. Glad you enjoyed it anyway :)

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Classing the film as a TV movie in the hopes it gets added ;) Then the 6 eps of Going Straight to wrap this perfect package up

Gareth Hood

Definitely worth 'Going Straight' for the first episode at least. And though the show has had an arc of sorts I guess having a proper finale wasn't much done back in the day. Anyway, will miss the show and the rewatch as I really picked up a lot more this time than I did as a kid. Especially how the show references Raquel Welch and Rita Haworth as being favourite films stars of Fletch. Wonder if Porridge ever had a run on PBS...

Funny That

A few of us have requested the film to be aired. Along with Going Straight. It's not an American thing for shows and films to be as interconnected as they are over here. You could watch Frasier without watching Cheers but that's not the case in Britain.

Colin Bayley

I've always considered the first episode of the sequel 'Going Straight' to be proper final episode of Porridge. It's satisfying. I've really enjoyed these reactions

Luke

Yeah. It'd be a shame if he didn't watch that and the pilot episode, "Prisoner & Escort".

Keith Pratt

Wasn't there a Porridge movie as well or did I imagine that?

BigChanChan

Its basically the same show. following on from when Fletcher is released. Same writers, same actors Just treat it as the same show with a different name.

Robin Brown

Can you add "Going Straight" to the poll please, Josh? It's the sequel series to Porridge and will answer a lot of your questions and theories about what happens when Fletch gets out. Only 1 series of 6 episodes were made. There would've been more, if not for the death of Richard Beckinsale.
