2022-09-02 10:14:36 +0000 UTCWell I hope your older mind can appreciate it now, as its arguably the best British crime drama ever made, certainly in my opinion, with incredible performaces by Ben Kingsley, Ray Winstone, and Ian McShane. Kingley's performance as Don Logan is one of the most intimidating screen villains, possibly only matched by Joe Pesci in Goodfellas and Casino, and perhaps Robert De Niros portrayal of Max Cady in Cape Fear.

It's also one of those films that's relatively low key in its delivery and rarely repeated on television, so it's doubtful it will get voted in on here. Shame really, as it's up there with Withnail and I, as cult classic British cinema.
