...Treacle isn't a thing in America??

Ah my ex-girlfriend as a kiddy-wink is in this episode for a split second. She's the child holding the spider. I was lucky enough to grow up in one of the neighbouring villages of Hambleden; famous in it's in own right now. I too was also lucky enough to be an extra in a few movies. Basically, if you lived where they were filming you could show up in the morning and see if they had anything for you. Which is also how she got this tiny part. Very different for extras now though.

Oh ok I bet Tay knew that she loves him lol πŸ˜‚ Goats are hilarious, their yelling and all that is great. Thank you so much I am glad to hear you are enjoying the shows.

This is a spoiler, albeit minor. Josh prefers to go in completely blind.

I love waking up to a The Vicar of Dibley notification. I'll always watch before work even if it makes me late.

Daryl

This is where the relationship between David and Geraldine changes and he becomes much warmer towards her. They still butt heads on certain things, but from this point, he stops being openly hostile to her and fully accepts her into the community.

Daniel Davies

You’ll notice at 27:14 when Alice puts the handkerchief to her nose. In real life, Emma Chambers was allergic to animal hair and hay, so this wasn’t a particularly good experience for her.

I love David's final line in this episode as I always felt he was the most interesting character after Geraldine. He provided much needed opposition/rivalry to the vicar but at the same time, some of the most satisfying moments of the show are like the end to this one, when David can't help but admire the vicar. The interaction between the two is one of the highlights of the show for me.

I had a feeling you would really enjoy this episode, Josh! I think it's the strongest episode of series 1 definitely, but I am an animal lover. To clarify some of the references: Can't remember the joke but Geraldine's mentions La Toya Jackson - sister of Michael Jackson. "You look like Sissy Spacek...on ecstasy" - Sissy Spacek is an American actress - known for Carrie, among many other films. Willie Whitelaw - "Men's bottoms aren't lovely. Most of them look like Willie Whitelaw.....chewing toffee." - UK politician, under Margaret Thatcher, although not literally....as far as I know. :p Little House on the Prairie - American daytime Western-drama serial, always used to be back-to-back with The Waltons here in the UK and a very similar style. Alice, when questioned by the reporter, says "Oh, gosh, it's like being on Blockbusters" - this was a UK quiz show back in the 80s and 90s. Karl Pilkington based his Rockbusters on Blockbusters. Or at least he thinks he did! Haha! The David Bowie, Krypton Factor and Richard and Judy jokes look to have already been explained. :-D The next two episodes are really strong and I think you'll get on really well with them, Josh! :-D

Ash Jeffries

Actually the actor who played David died this year. So only two of them left.

Dr. Gonzo

It always makes kinda sad watching The vicar of Dibley knowing that Dawn French, the characters of David and Hugo Horton are the only ones still alive.

Crackracket

Bowie was married to the supermodel Iman :) I love goats as well, they crack me up πŸπŸ˜… I've spent way too much time laughing at videos of goats being mental. Nice episode. I'm enjoying this more than I thought I would, might sound weird but it makes me feel relaxed. Thanks Josh.

Richard and Judy mentioned near the start ("fighting like Richard and Judy") were a married couple and presenters of This Morning (aired 1988 to present). Some may correct me in comments but I'd describe it as a topical, magazine show, with current affairs, celebrity interviews, entertainment news, health, cookery. I wouldn't say they argued but certainly had discussions where they talked over each other. Both left the show years ago. I can't be the only Brit who associates Richard and Judy / This Morning with being off ill from school. I.E back in the 90s we had 4 TV channels, no cartoons / kids shows on in morning outwith the school holidays or weekends, so if you were off ill you had no choice but to watch what the stay at home parent watched. Often Richard and Judy on This Morning. The Krypton Factor, mentioned halfway through when referencing Alice thinking she would win it was a game show with physical and mental challenges that were tough. As in, competitively tough.

If the boss asks why I am awake later tomorrow and not logged on to laptop for 8am, I will blame you. Lools like Im up for another half hour now.
