One Foot in the Grave: Season 4, Episode 4 Warm Champagne

Comments

I'm falling so behind! Haha! Been super busy recently! But as ever, great reaction Josh, and this is another of my favourite episodes. First, thanks for the shoutout Josh regarding my comment on last week's episode! Much appreciated! It was very easy to leave such a detailed comment on that episode - so much to say about it and my very favourite episode of the entire series. And it just felt quite daring and brave to tackle that kind of subject matter in a sitcom. This episode has so many great moments and for me, where last week's episode was Victor's chance to shine, Warm Champagne is Margaret's. Some beautifully written dialogue in this episode and some brilliantly funny lines too. "You talk about sensitivity - that's always been Victor's trouble. He's the most *sensitive* person I've ever met, and that's why I love him and why I constantly want to ram his head through a television screen." Wonderful. :-D "Do you know what's worse than warm champagne?" "No" "No, I really don't think you do." Poignant. "This is a perfect end to the perfect week isn't it? To come home and find your husband has taken up necrophilia!" Possibly my favourite line of the whole show and certainly my favourite Margaret line. Actually, no, my favourite *funny* Margaret line. I have an ultimate favourite line from Margaret which hasn't arrived yet on here but I'll point it out at the time! :-D And then the diary/dairy mix up. I just love how Renwick builds in these machinations and diversions. The acting and jokes are funny enough on this show to make it a decent sitcom, but the detail, clever plotting and character depth is what elevates it for me to top tier. It's why it's my favourite UK sitcom, and I remain delighted that it won a poll and is being reacted to by you, Josh! Hope you continue to enjoy! :-D

Your welcome bro. That is the great thing in the modern age that it has opened up our worlds (British & American) where we can share moments like this, discuss them, whereas when these shows were originally on TV, you guys on the other side of the pond would have never seen or heard of them.
