The League of Gentlemen: Season 4, Episode 1 Return To Royston Vasey

Comments

Will the live show for season 4 get a look in after this? As that does continue the story a little more and does a really excellent job at it. I was lucky enough to see it live and I've never laughed so much ๐Ÿ˜‚

Matthew

Love, love. love. That's all I have for these characters. I really hope you get to watch Psychoville at some point, whether on the channel or on your own. These guys take it to another level on that one. LOG is still my fav, but I'm confident you will like Psychoville.

Got a full week of reactions to catch up on tonight ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

They call it an anniversary special, so I guess itโ€™s mostly something for fans of the original show, 15 years later, rather than a new season. To fully appreciate it, as the writers intended, Josh should put these episodes on the Poll in 2036.

Gary Tamblyn

Never liked this season as much. Mainly a rehash of old characters and jokes. Especially obvious when you're watching them all in a row like this.

Alexander Bond

I do agree with you that it should be included as part of the series, for the sake of convenience and again, because it's awesome!

Toby Mann

At the very least we need it on the movie poll.

Toby Mann

The film seems more of a stand alone and I don't rate it as canon. I love it all the same though. Feel free to correct me.

Toby Mann

There isn't a series 4. It's a mini-series of 3 specials.

Right Said Brett

I knew that the fact that the parking space was outside Oddbins would go over Josh's head because America doesn't have Oddbins. For those who don't know; it's a chain of wine stores.

Right Said Brett

Oh cool excited to see who will be on there.

After Work Reactions

Hope you end up enjoying it bud!

Thank you, I was happy to see them back they are great characters. They did do a great job with this one ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

After Work Reactions

I agree, I think they tried to do something way different. I still have really enjoyed the whole show though. I agree bud this episode was great ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

After Work Reactions

Thanks bud I have put them on polls previously so they will come back soon.

After Work Reactions

Lol enjoy bud ๐Ÿ˜‚

Is The League Of Gentlemen's Apocalypse being reacted to that followed season 3?

A

LoG/No.9 fans who are less than thrilled about Car Share winning might want to at least see episode 3 of it for a pleasant surprise.

Z is for Zed

they ruined babs here ,itll be better if babs was anti liberal media and hated them ,it just reminds me of all the crappy news about the protestors and marches the past several years

girlsdrinkfeck

I had no idea there was a season 4...

Balkyne

You missed the line where it was revealed Pauline has dementia.

Matgo Styles

Couldn't have said it better myself. The fact that the same amount of time has passed in the real world as is for the world of Royston Vasey, and how the characters have either changed, developed or grown in that time. Probably the best cap stone to any series ever.

Michael Hartley

Lol It was a great episode!

After Work Reactions

That joke about parking spaces at 8mins goes over too many people's heads.

Tony Smyth

Excellent stuff. I loved your reaction to the return of Tubbs and Edward:) Coming back after 15 years could have been a disaster but they nailed it ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

Fair play to the writers for their ambitious third season, it was impressive to try something so different when they had already established a certain tone in the first two... but it didn't quite work for me. I liked the episode with Pauline, and the episode with Geoff and Legz Akimbo, but I was expecting more of a payoff, and I just didn't laugh as much. This episode though, had me smiling from beginning to end. Sometimes, we just want to see our familiar favourite characters! (Although to be honest, the Dr. Chinnery scenes are usually a bit too far for me!)

Ben

Id love to see "Insdide Number 9" and "Psychoville" on furure polls, both amazing series by the team. Psychoville is more in the same vein as The League of Gentlemen

Ant Morrow

The number 9 on the door Edward closes at the end is a reference to Inside No. 9, another BRILLIANT show I hope wins a poll at some point soon! I just loved these anniversary specials; a real testament to their talent being able to slip straight back in (if you'll forgive the Herr Lipp-ism :p) to the characters so seamlessly after 15 years. Yes, they all look older (as you would expect) but none of the characters are "off" - the continuity is wonderful and impressive. This is definitely a return to the halcyon days of series 1 and 2 but with added confidence, a heavy helping of nostalgia, and a great deal of fun I'm sure was had by all in revisiting this world. I couldn't wait for the Tubbs and Edward reveal as I knew it would please you no end, Josh! :-D The Pauline, Mickey and Ross stuff I think is remarkable - how clever to write in a story that Pauline has dementia and that they all need to recreate the scenes we saw in series 1 to jog her memory. Ingenious way to bring back these characters in the most familiar way possible - Pauline had essentially come full circle by the end of series 3 after all, a much nicer person, marrying Mickey, even Ross finally putting their battle to bed finally as he shows up at the end and seems happy for them. Where else would we be at this stage? Great idea. You'll love the final two episodes - I adored all three of these final specials, and although it's true that you are lucky to have only had 1 week to wait, I am sure I'm not alone in expressing my gratitude to the gents for bringing this back to our screens again after 15 years. Such a treat! :D

Ash Jeffries

I agree.

Tony Smyth

I'm going to watch this three times.

Tony Smyth

Really hoping we get Inside No9 next, another brilliant show by Shearsmith and Pemberton ^_^

Mark McKeown

Holy crap! Here we go guys and gals :D
