Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

Great second episode I really enjoyed this one, it was hilarious. The inspector guy was a real piece of work it was very satisfying to watch Karl give him a piece of his mind. Poor Hannah working her ass off trying to keep the place running with everyone being goofy lol. Dude when Kev climb out of that old lady's bed ass naked I cracked up. That dude is out of control.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

As always I would love to read your comments below

Derek: Season 1, Episode 2

Comments

It is extremely hard to find good carers - those who go into it because they care for the people rather than it just being a job. However, the hardest thing often is funding. As a midwife we do 12.5 hour shifts (it used to be 15 days and 9 for nights but they switched it to an even split with half hour from handover at each shift change. So I would go onto a ward with around 40 women and their babies where we should have 4-5 midwives and there will be 2 of us. So each of us have 20 women and babies each. Tell me how you are supposed to give the care you want to like that? So I would be responsible for 40 lives, not take a single break all day because there is nobody to cover and you don’t want to endanger your patients and then you still go home crying because you have been screamed at for not giving the care you really want to give. For the 45 minutes of paperwork needed to discharge someone and give them the whole safety chat to take all day because you keep getting called to do the actual job you should be doing. People get mad and shout at you, complain at you to do your job better etc and then you drive home crying because you gave it everything you had, didn’t eat or drink all day to try to give the best care and still everyone thought you were useless. It’s why there is such a burn out in healthcare and why you end up with people just not bothering anymore. Funding cuts again and again affect only those low down on the pole and their patients while those high up get six figure salaries plus bonuses. The whole system of healthcare is awful. When you get a care home with staff who care enough to work unpaid overtime there should be gratitude but there isn’t. Instead they do this kind if thing and move people to all different homes where they don’t know anyone, they go downhill and they die. It’s all heartbreaking. For that reason I loathe this guy from the council who has no idea of what it’s really like. Everyone making those decisions should be forced to work a month in these places to understand what their decisions cause to happen. Sorry long rant and probably won’t be read by anyone since this is an almost 4 year old upload.

Me as well bud make sure you vote on the next poll!

After Work Reactions

I totally agree man!

After Work Reactions

LOL I can totally see what you mean. I bet something dramatic always happened when the bosses show up.

After Work Reactions

I know exactly what you mean bro, but it's easier the second time isn't it

Tony Smyth

Don't know why I'm doing this to myself watching Derek again. Emotional rollercoaster!

Niall Doherty

Absolutely loved your reaction, Josh! Lovely insights about your mum working in a care home. I feel like this show will be great for you as you seem to have an understanding and empathy already with the setting and plot line. The humour is subtle and takes a bit to get into. It's not your 'usual comedy', similar to After Life. It's funny, wholesome, realistic and just all together enjoyable. Lots of cringe moments, too.

Abi Dorito

Great reaction again Josh. Some interesting insights as well.

Daryl

I've tried both episodes and I really want to like it, but I don't. Gervais isn't for me, but I keep hearing how good this is. I'll give next weeks a go too. Third time's a charm, right?

Steve Read

I think there will be a few ppl watching along with you for the first time who judged it before they had actually watched it and will find that actually its rather good

lee cooper

Thanks bud! I appreciate that alot.

After Work Reactions

Thanks bud!

After Work Reactions

Very true I totally agree. That type of job for sure needs a certain type of person. Thank you and take care!

After Work Reactions

Thanks bud

After Work Reactions

I really hope you get to react to after life soon

Gregg

I'm enjoying this series. Very believable with some funny moments.

Jack Veazey

I remember the 'registration and inspection' visits at my old job in a care home. They would turn up unannounced and put the fear of god into you (and the residents) This portrayal is so accurate that I find it hard to watch! And ALWAYS without fail there would be those heart stopping moments when something would happen that had never happened before! Not quite to the Kev extent😂😂 but pretty close !

Claire Prowse

Thanks bud she is a great lady!

After Work Reactions

Very true man! I agree it seems rare to see someone capable of empathy.

After Work Reactions

God I love this show! Loved your reaction and insight as well. Having experience with the 'Care' industry as well, I know that it takes a certain type of person to do that job. Training is necessary but if you don't have the right temperament, it doesn't count. You see how big Ricky's heart really is when you watch this.

tania P. Bear

The only thing that Ricky Grvais can do to irritate me is to laugh. I hate the way he laughs. He's almost worse than Jimmy Carr., but better.

Tony Smyth

...... Oh I almost forgot I loved your reaction when Kev got out of the bed Lol

Andrew G

That's what I like about the show Josh it's not just comedy but deals with stuff that goes on in real life and the review at the end with your Mum's work experience's makes me appreciate people who provide that service not everyone can do it like nifts said it's a tough job

Andrew G

This is technically episode 1, last one was the pilot.

Graeme C

I have a question, why do you always skip the credits?

Your mum sounds ace Josh.

Saul

Thank your Mum Josh, it is a tough Job and mostly they do not get the respect they need. Your right about empathy, I have a feeling we seeing less and less of that these days. The other thing that gets my goat is we all hopefully going to grow old, it comes for all of us, It almost they don't see that and think it never happen to me.

Hesketh

...waiting for the download... I can already smell Kev, and that's why I'm already smiling...
