Hey, folks honestly this episode didn't have too many funny moments. This episode didn't seem to have the same tone as the previous 2. While watching this episode I wondered if maybe they were experimenting with the tone of the show. I mean I am only 2 episodes so the show at this point hasn't completely found its footing. Just an observation, not a judgement, I still enjoyed the episode it just felt different. I don't want to put any spoilers so I will leave my review basic. Let me know what you guys think about this episode.

Only fools and horses Season 1 Episode 3

Comments

I think so to, that's awesome =]

In the original and I believe the iTunes version, the song that plays over the montage of Del and Rodney selling things was Pink Floyd's Money.

Robert Donohoe

I really enjoy it so far, the comedy is great and so is the story =]

After Work Reactions

The thing with only fools and horses it's not a pure comedy it is also a drama but definitely giving a chance it's not as laugh out loud funny as other shows but it does have its moments and it is a really good show.

That't totally ok, if a show goes on that long then it is good!

After Work Reactions

I am sure many of the people who love this show would consider this sacralige but Season 6 is where I finally fell in love with Fools. Yuppie Love, and Danger UXD, plus the Jolly Boys outing made me realize this was a masterpiece. In no way am I knocking the early episodes but by skipping around I was able to find the absolute essence of the show and in turn go back and apply it to older episodes I skipped.

That's the thing with Only Fools & Horses. Its more of a drama with comedy aspects. There are episodes are lot heavier than this one as the show goes on. There are also plenty of hilarious episodes to come.

Luke Barron

That's awesome man thank you =]

After Work Reactions

Thanks man, I agree most shows take a season or two to find its footing. I will totally check that out it sounds hilarious =]

After Work Reactions

I agree I have never even heard of the show until you all started recommending it to me, it must not have been pushed over here too much.

After Work Reactions

Thanks bro, I really enjoy this show so much I totally get why everyone likes it. Looking forward to season 2 because I have been hearing it gets much better.

After Work Reactions

LOL that's hilarious =]

After Work Reactions

It's all good bro I did enjoy it either way.

After Work Reactions

LOL its cool bro, looking forward to checking out more episodes =]

After Work Reactions

I totally agree man, I think that too many shows get cancelled too fast =/

After Work Reactions

Thanks bro, I agree most shows are just finding their footing in the beginning so it takes a minute to get really good.

Only Fools is a big deal is because it has a catchy, comforting theme tune and was on TV a lot at a time when choice was severely limited. As such, it's familiar to everyone and has become a part of British culture. As a comedy, I don't really rate it.

Mat

The first season isn't the strongest but later on it gets really good. The characters are not yet defined properly, it does take some time to settle but once it does I think the comedy will cross the cultural barrier. Josh gets a lot more (accents and references) than I expected as an American. I am biased because I love this show but I think for good reason, this show became a national institution. If you want to see a great episode have a look at a touch of glass from the end of season 2, I don't think you need to have watched episodes before that one as the cast is all the same at that point so I don't think it will spoil anything, please anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Jonny

Yeah, only fools is something we are brought up on and has a lot of cultural references of the period and slang. It is very British and hasnt really been aimed outside the UK, some of the funniest moments work well but I think you would be better off with a greatest moments clip./

Rob Weetman

I don't think only fools is for non-British people, it's pure nostalgia...

Yeah I agree the first season is hot and cold for funny moments, it takes a bit of time getting used to. I'm from the UK and even I sometimes got lost with a few phrases and references. You could always skip to the funniest moments like you did with the Batman scene if the whole episodes aren't your thing. Just another recommendation for your Josh, try 'Fresh Meat'. It is a comedy starring Simon from the Inbetweeners about six university students who live together. It's a really good insight into university life in the UK, lots of funny moments and easy to watch. Hope you're well buddy from your number 1 patron!

Mitchell Gallagher

The other commenters are right, it took a while for the characters to fully develop but it soon becomes the National Treasure we know and love today. You’ve got some great comedy moments on the way.

PunchyPariah

First season has some funny moments in it but it never really took off in the UK, it was on at the wrong time of day and then it go re-placed at a different time slot and became a huge show. Season 2 and 3 is where it really gets its legs going and becomes great pretty much every episode. By the time uncle Albert arrives its an established classic work of tv for British people, hang in there and persist. This episode is one of the worst, think it was written to show Del boy getting scammed and that all really.

NEXUS

Yeah the first season is real hitand miss, can't wait for next season though. You're in for a treat

George Harvey

I wonder if Josh picked up on Del calling anybody he dosent know JOHN 😂😂

Rich Moyse

Personally never found this episode that great either, still a few laughs, fortunately the other episodes are more in line with the previous 2 episodes.

Michael Ledger

This is probably the worst episode of OFAH going. It’s just very bland and wastes a good half hour. But there’s loads more brilliantly funny episodes to come. It’s called the best sitcom for a reason, but this episode isn’t that reason

Sam Dilks

This show is a perfect example of why you do not cancel programmes after the first season which this nearly was due to viewing figures. As Rich say stick with and we will help translate, it's the greatest British comedy of all time it will make you laugh and it will make you cry and hopefully this time next year we will all be millionaires

Matthew Hough

Your summary is basically spot on, the show was really inconsistent in the first series but from series 2 onwards they nailed the format and it was consistently good

Paperduck

I appreciate your honesty :) it's not one of the best for me either. But no worries, there's still so many great episodes to come ☺

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Stick with it mate, you are just getting to know characters
