sketchbook march-april 2020

i hope you've all been doing alright through these truly shithouse times we are living through. i've been journalling a lot to process things on a day-by-day basis, so there's a lot of writing in the pics below, my apologies! but my chicken scratch is absolutely not required reading! other than this and commission work, there hasn't been a whole lot else happening aside from writing here and there. i hope this is kinda interesting, at least...

Below: concept sketches for Armour Astir, a fantasy mech TTRPG developed by Briar Sovereign (@weregazelle). i'm working on a piece of art for the playbook. go give it a look!

Below is a sketch for a recently completed commission.

things from drawpile, which i've found really enjoyable

and that's it for now! take care, everyone <3

dwdw! Im just terrible at checking twitter and also have some spare money from my student loans haha! 👀 Thought why not spend some of it on art i love haha 💖

Rook

ah! i'm so sorry, that completely slipped my mind for this round! next time i'll definitely make sure to post to patreon first :')

Adrian S.

Oh! side question- do you think you'll do that patreon first thing for commissions again in the future? I've been saving up and missed the recent ones on twitter whoops 😵

Rook

ahh loving more of the sketchbook stuff! that blue one on the last page is beautiful 💙

Rook

i'm glad! it's a great way to stay in touch w your artistic motives and figure out new directions. and i love tombow pens, i've just got a blue one for now!

Adrian S.

Honestly this has really inspired me to start using a visual journal again. I think it's such crucial aspect of any creative practice in general. Also do I spy a purple Tombow pen at use?

TBONEDRAWS

I'm waiting for Patreon to do a lot of things with their website 😅 Either way, this is all very very good, thank you for sharing with us. I hope that you are doing alright

it's really good! the book was written in '71 but i think its still highly relevant today. very thoughtful and interesting writing and not academically heavy at all

Adrian S.

cant believe u did this shit with drawpile looool wtf... also i know i should read dennis altman but i never have, hows it going?

Marlo Mogensen

thank you david!! and no unfortunately it doesn't. probably your best option at this point is to open the images in a new tab... still waiting for the day that patreon implements an actually good method for uploading photosets :'(

Adrian S.

I was one of the people that voted for you to put them here. But it looks like Patreon doesn't do a lightbox for them to make them easier to read 😔

BowieBarks

I love your sketchbook posts! I love how you use it as a journal and doodle along with what you are thinking. And that you allow us this glimpse into your mind 💝
