Some march commissions (WIPs)

I'm afraid there won't be much in the way of personal art this month as i'm mainly working on commissions, but i'm able to show you the colour roughs for these two i'm currently doing. these have been great at getting me to try out different lighting styles and continuing to push the way i think about and use colour.

for both of these i wanted to try something different to what i've been doing and go for very strong light with vibrant shadows. in some ways it's much easier than the usual cel shading method i use since i need to be more minimalistic where i apply light in order not to over-render the image. for inspiration and guidance i've been looking at juanjo guarnido's comic work and process notes/sketches. (there's a lot i don't like about blacksad but there's just as many things i DO like about his art...) (i just wish he didnt draw women like that......)
