I’d love to know how much of the sound design is firsthand versus second hand samples / field recordings, just to understand the work load

Nolan

YES PLEASE

Cody Moriah

I'm currently going to school for audio production and design, and this is so so fascinating. I would love for you guys to do this again! And if you need questions/discussion topics I am so curious and excited about this shit. (I'm stoned rn so sorry if that's phrased whacky)

Cody Moriah

The stolen valor comment about moving laughs rings so true. No one bats an eye when you cut out the pauses and 'ums' to make something tighter, because afterall, it is entertainment, you edit movies, why not your podcast? You can edit down a bit so it hits harder, those involve laughs. But as soon as you want to grab a laugh from another section to pad a joke, you start to question everything.

Chris

I think this conversation kinda helped solidify my decision into going to sound design/editing. Ester is an audio powerhouse and I aspire to be her 🫶🏻

Vivian the Graceless

Absolutely, "go spend a couple hundred bucks and see what you can do"

Fabfilter rocks balls. I used to use Audition. It was actually Cool Edit Pro for many years until adobe bought em. I lasted till version 3 then started looking for a new DAW. Found Reaper, never looked back, I highly recommend checking out Reaper*. *Just heard the rest where you guys talk about reaper, lol **And actually, Reapers license only lasts through, I believe, two full version updates which stretches out to like 3 years. I just had to pay $60 for the 3rd time a few months ago.

love that Ester has her own dealer for tech. what a fucking legend

Caz Flip Smith

This was awesome!! I've listened to it like three times already, very cool behind the scenes look.

Levi Bradford

I really thank you both for that great insight. And many more thanks for creating so many subtle but extremely effective audio hints and all - currently I am re-listening s2 and I keep realizing how much magic Ester brought into that world <3

Jenny Carter

Audio Perverts Unite!!

Leon Schönberg

Well this is on me for jumping into an MBIC without having finished season 2, but would it be possible to update the description to include spoilers for late season 2?

Jeff Helner

Ester was an absolute delight on this! I'm so glad we got to hear some of the elements she added to the pod and the reasoning because it adds so much dimension to relistens.

Adie G.

even though i barely know anything about audio editing, this was such a blast to listen to

IllustriousNobody

Ester goes crazy with the sound bites. I also love how seemless the edits are. For the longest time I never knew they spliced stuff in and out. Just thought the only breaks were when they did ad reads

Chris Winnek

Sound off for love of Ester!

Brynnah

Oooohhh is this the first we’ve heard what the name is for Will’s campaign? Also idk the first thing about editing and sound design but I really enjoyed this

Tegan

I started reading Moby Dick after will recommended it so many times and it's amazing, I'd love for you guys to do a one-shot dmed by will where you all go on a whale hunt. Could be in the Call of Cthulhu system

Frank

Need all the tips and tricks that aren't software specific!

Please bring ester in to some talking dads if it was an edit heavy episode. Hearing her insights a little more regularly could be a lot of fun!!!

Mel

This was really nice to listen to! It would be fun to hear similar stuff from other members of the team as well, like the community manager or merch or stuff like that. Maybe like a q&a-type deal.

Hampus Siöland

This was so cool! Really enjoyed listening

Jordan

Love Ester, so glad to hear more from her!

Kelton Hollister

Something I never thought to ask for but I’m excited to hear! Props to the 5th beatle for all the amazing work 🙌🏼

Kayden Pierce

Ooh I’ve always wondered her process
