[Teen Talk] S2 Ep. 53 - Urination (Friends Forever)

The Dad Crew sits down to talk about the final episode of season two! They get into how this season finale came together cleaner than the season one finale, the giant scissors Matt actually bought during the recording, and how the teenage motif fit into the pressure everyone felt after season one.

Plus composer Maxton Waller stops by to talk about the marching band version of the season two theme song and they answer some questions about the most memorable records of the season and everyone's favorite intros.

Unlike Korra you guys crushed the landing <3

Sebastian Ma

love what freddie had to say about taking big swings

Glenn

I’m removed from online commentary outside of occasionally poking my head into the comments here. I was SO surprised to hear that there was negativity around this season. It was so much fun and has such a dear place in my heart right next to season one. I think they all did an awesome job with this season.

Sarah Stephens

Just now finished season 2, and working my way through other content before starting and catching up in season 3. Can’t say enough how good the content produced has been, and how great you all seem, including the barest interactions that I’ve had the privilege of being able to experience and witness. Thanks for everything you have done and continue to do.

Tony Loch

"I'm putting the fleshlight on my penis" is such a wild thing to hear, I love it

Andrew Worthington

JOHN PRINE FUCKS

Matty Major

Also was hoping that'd be answered

Dylan Tyler

Sadly highly debatable they'd know what that is

Dylan Tyler

I started listening a while back but fell out of it cause of stuff I was going through. but recently picked this series back up from the beginning and over couple months have now finished this 2nd season, (in fact this season is was what made me come to the Patreon cause I just needed more). I throughly enjoyed every minute of this season. For entirely different reasons then I loved the first. Thank you guys for making it, I truly cherish how connected I feel to this series and the characters. Through tears of humor and the many emotional tears this series has caused me. It just means so much to me. I wouldn’t change how you guys did anything. I’m glad I got to experience this story Also the songs and covers were dope this season, super fun!❤️

Abby Trujillo

Honestly I’m late listening because i took a little break but i want to say ive never listened to something so consistently and loved every second the way i have for the past 4 years that ive been listening to this podcast. You all have gotten me through grief, loneliness, motherhood with the most beautiful chemistry, the funniest wit, and the feeling that im hanging out with my 5 insanely creative, hilarious friends. Specifically to Anthony, i need you to know that at least one fan out there (but many many more, judging on similar posts) are in AWE of the creative and original way you create these worlds and situations. I think Willy Stampler is one of my favorite villains of all time, which is a testament to not only your character writing but also your acting. Beth, you are one of the funniest people I’ve ever heard in such a smart way- it seems like to conform to the perfect role that’s needed and i loved loved loved that scary seemed more like the terry we saw in space, it just made me so happy to hear. Will, i think you really really came into your own this season. Normal had, imo, the best character arc on the show and went from the character i cared the least about to a character i felt so attached to. Matt, Darryl was my favorite season one and Linc is my favorite season 2- honestly i just think we share the exact same niche of humor. Freddy- no notes man, just keep doing you- you give me the most crying laughing moments of the show both seasons and the unabashed confidence you have just makes me aspire to be you- that being said, i know there is SO much behind the scenes that you do and you really have grown this little seed of an idea into the most random thing i never knew i would love so much. Honestly, you all are impeccable and you should be insanely proud 🤍

miley not so cyrus

Hey. I’m 16. I’ve listened to this show for 4-5 years. I’ve loved every second. (Would you believe I’m still catching up!!!😅)

AlphabetiSpaghettie

Pizza jokes… stuffed😅

AlphabetiSpaghettie

Hey I loved it and excited to start s3

the chompie man

I love listening to the cast talk, but one thing that riles me up is listening to Matt talk about his music taste 😂

Brandon Curtis

I got into this podcast 2 months ago and it has lifted me out of my art block that has been so intensely in bedded into me that it has felt amazing to create again. I’m so sorry that it felt so tough for Anthony this season I honestly love this season more than the first the amount of heart is just so infectious in your guys work. I’m so excited for season 3 your chemistry and the characters you’ve made are so dear to my heart please don’t ever stop creating something amazing!!!!!!

Alice Striker

I know I’m late to the party and probably no one will see this, but I just wanted to shout out everyone who works to make this podcast fantastic. Hearing you all share your celebrations and insecurities was so raw and had me in tears. I just re-listened to the first episode with my husband (he’s already a new fan!!) and I couldn’t stop grinning because it reminded me how much you’ve grown. I love you guys so much ❤️ thank you for doing what you do and bringing so much light and happiness into so many lives!

Eileen Quinn

Crazy to say this because I never understood it myself until now, but this cast has been such a silently integral part of my life. A 4-membered chimeric character, if you will. These two seasons have carried me through some lonlier times and have inspired me in the way I choose to DM my games, too. For everyone on the team, thank you so so much for the moments when you were vulnerable and for the moments you stuck through when things felt hard ❤️

feed me

I also just love LoK so so much and I think it has a similar change as this show in that the second season was just… heavier in a lot of ways. Sometimes more painful to relate to, but that’s why I love it

Sophia

I think hearing Anthony say this season is legend of korra in the “nobody likes it as much as ATLA but it’s still not bad” way discounts the fact that there’s a lot of people who genuinely loved Korra (and season 2)!! And people get very attached to their first introduction to a world, which can make it easy to overlook new stories

Sophia

Beth has the strongest mind of anyone on a loose dnd 5e podcast I've ever heard. It's going to take a heck of a lot more to turn that off.

Samuel Nachman

Ahhh so so so good! Loved the ending , felt really satisfying and the epilogue took me out 😂😂😂 can’t wait for next season ! Love everything that you guys do it’s so good

Holly 🍁

real

Joe Morrisroe

You guys seriously get me through life.

Kazlyn

Ah damn...it really ended again...i binged this two seasons in the shortest time, i got me some nice merch, became a patreon bc i just love everything you guys do soo much. I absolutely loved on my way so much, bought it and binge listened to it for 3 weeks straight(no fr. That song was on repeat for 3 weeks every day and i was sad that it wasnt on spotify so i can see in my backflash of the year how damn often i listened to this thing....and now maxton said he put it on spotify...a few days after i bought it....aaahhh he absolutely deserves the money and i still would've bought it....but i would've listened to it on spoty bc i wanted to see this huge number 😂😂)

MsCookie280

Heart breaks to hear where Anthony was mentally throughout the season, I loved every part of this journey champ you’re still my favorite dm

Keith Rodriguez

Did the thing where I put off listening to the final episode of media I love but I finally finished and I just think you all have some of the most brilliant creative minds of any medium. Improv storytelling via podcast is such a unique form wherein “mistakes” are not only bound to happen but should happen and are part of what make this special — deviating from the pattern of the first season made season 2 feel messier and I don’t mean that badly! On the contrary I think all of this serves to strengthen the themes of this teenage season and asserts the power of this art form in all its humanness and real-time collaboration. You guys are absolute powerhouses thank you

Anna Levinson

Wait! Who was Willie trying to power word kill?! I gotta know!

Charleen Lamphere

Punk band pleeeaaaaase

Henry Houston

he put his whole anthussy into it

Kellie Zufelt

I have a loose end i need tying up! In episode 10, Anthony refers to someone called Kayla when the incursion pimple pops after the debate. Who is she? I wrote it down when it happened to see if she would be mentioned again but she isn’t

Obi

1950’s, you say? 😮

Alex Annje

I stayed fully caught up to season 2 until around episode 40 something when school overwhelmed me and I had to dip out for a while, but I've caught back up in the last two weeks and I'm very glad I did. Killer job this season, guys. Can't wait to see y'all in Tennessee this June!

Coby Fuller

I'm so sad this season is over :(

SodaPop419

I don't read anything online about this pod, I just listen and enjoy. This season has been equally as good as season 1 and at no point did I even consider it wasn't. It was extremely surprising to hear Anthony talk about the negative stuff he's seen online. Bro those people are wrong, this shit banged. My friends listen to this show too and all say the same thing. Idk where you found these lunatics that were saying it wasn't good but I have to assume they're the vocal minority because my friends and I all have absolutely impeccable taste 😎😎😎

Bam jumping off da crane in CKY2K is a core memory for me also FUCK jayrock777

Yall should collab on a book on the story of the lost season

Nico

Can I just say, we are all, so VERY proud of Anthony <3 take it bich

Sofie Eliasson

The way I RAN to Spotify

Darcy Doeman

Thank you for this. Thank you for everything you all have worked on from Borderlands 2 to Video Game Highschool. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Some of you formed my childhood while the rest of you are helping cope with adulthood. Thank you.

Jakob Medlin

I was SO relieved when Dood made it back home!

BumblingRose

I know I’m late to the comment party but I just want to say Anthony is great. You all are great. And even if you weren’t, people need to keep their mean mouths closed if they don’t have anything nice to say. There was a radio quiz show called Michael Feldman’s whaddya know back in the 90s and he would say “listeners who are sticklers for the truth should get their own show”. I think of that every time people criticize podcasters. Get your own damn show if you can do it better. Or stop listening. You all just do you. You are each amazing in your own ways. Looking forward to whatever you all choose to share with the world, even the bits I don’t get, because I live in a cave (or anime and most media references). But I do get your humanity across the board and we need so much more of that these days!

BumblingRose

Teen Talk really slapped this whole season

Bam Nordentoft

Same Korra is my fav

Corn

Nuh uh

I hate Italians

ATLA is my favorite show from my first decade on this earth I love it so much

Isaac A

I actually really loved the beginning of this season, and most of my favorite moments of this season are from those episodes.

Peter Blenski

As someone who is none binary and only just now accepting it. I honestly love dood so much

Cry

I hope we get the rest of the Black Parade cover. I feel like theirs so much in this season that becomes a song if you let it.

The Overthinker

Love this season, you guys are all amazing. I hope you take a nice break and we will happily wait for more :)

Luke Schultz

I like how Matt weaponized "yes and" at the end

Drednot

Or don't kill off all grandparents. How will t his affect season 3 if Lincoln and Scary being married?

Grant Davis

*for season 3

Grant Davis

Please play a relative of someone else's daddy. That way you can give dad advice from a different player or teaching of other dads. Sort of body swap in season 1.

Grant Davis

I rarely comment. I logged on just to say this also. Love Legend of Korra. Avatar last airbender is overrated!

Chris Formisano

dawg maxton is married???????

Zoe Pelishek

What made you pick up on that? Got a time stamp too?

Kamikaze Velociraptor

LoK is my favorite 😅 Lol I loved this season. Thought everyone was amazing.

Kiernacchus

So, love what Freddie said about this Season and his perspective on creativity/longevity... also, does Maxton have a thing for Beth?!

Eddy B

Loved the season. Damn great work. I am wondering however.... WHERE IS WALTER?!?

sean Urban

❤ Loved this season, love your work, and excited for both the upcoming horror season and the eventual grandparent season. Also, as a forever DM, I'm so excited for Anthony to get a little break to be a player! Having gotten to play again recently myself, it has been like a revitalizing reset and rest that has helped me find more joy again in DMing.

drmimms

Imagining y'all as a "workplace" of super supportive but still critical people truly makes me smile. Can't wait to see the next direction you all take.

Jimmy Scott

Super off topic but I don’t know how else to ask these questions. I kinda got back into wrestling with the MBIC Anthony put together on it. So now I just want to know your opinion on the main event tonight. It felt to me super unemotional compared to the match you showcased between Cody and his brother, and I’m not sure if it was just the fact that that one was brother vs brother or this was just as awful as I feel it was.

Tyler Ferguson

Listening to this on the anniversary of John Prines death, definitely didnt expect him to get a shout out in this. Will go listen to his entire debut album!

Mitch Patmagrian

Guys, thank you so much for putting all of you into this project. This podcast is my emotional support podcast, it got me through a lot. It made me giggle, smile and laugh when I needed it the most. I changed country, job and had to find new friends. I was alone for a really hard period of time. But I had you, a season one and a season two of a show that will never be too long. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Eleonora Cenzon

gg fellas

Orsted

You guys are incredible creators and your energy together is fun to listen to no matter what you are making. To Anthony in particular, don’t listen to the complainers. There are so many more of us out here who love what you create.

AVeryHungryOwlbear

Will crying for anthony got ME crying in the club

Megan Shively

Dropped my phone when I heard my username during the listener questions! Made me jump lol

Miles Lewis

[1:30:35] - Did Beth just quote Bluey? Or just a coincidence? Either way, it made me happy :D

Adam Souza

Well legacy is best because the is also a very dad car the Subaru legacy. Also where is the Taylor manga? Did I miss it or sumn?

Mason Toki

I love “Legacy” as a subtitle, but I also loved “Pussy Wagon.” So why choose? I humbly present, for your consideration, “Dungeons & Daddies, Season 2: Legussy”

Kay M. C.

Would fully read / consume any content about the lost season

mermar

justice for send in the clowns 😭

Amara Davidson

Oh man a year plus until new Daddies campaign?! AHHHHH

nusictone1 .

For the record though, as a big Korra fan, I'm also a big fan of this season. You all killed it fr fr

Addi Penry

In my personal opinion there are two songs that have stuck out to me Emotionally the series finale song of Adventure time and this theme song

kckerr 1188

What’s the Deal with Teenagers? They Scare the shit out of me.

Austin Sharp

Thank you for another great season!

McCall

I found this show at a very transitional point in my life. Y'all have seen me through some of the best and worst times of my life. I know you guys like to joke about it just being some podcast but it is so much more than that. You've been a constant in my life that has kept me laughing, crying and entertained for so long now and has impacted me in ways I never imagined. It helped me learn to have fun with DnD and gave me the greatest joy when I found out my soon to be wife's brothers were big fans as well. I sincerely want to thank you each for making this podcast and if you've read this comment thank you for taking the time to care about your fans.

Matthew Brakefield

by far my favorite thing about this podcast is that there is always something new and something experimental, and personally i haven't found anything in rpg storytelling that tickles the novelty seeking part of my brain in the same way as s2. but more importantly it means that there's no specific premise or formula dndads needs to rely on, so it's easy as a listener to look forward to whatever comes next

hal

Man I loved this whole season so much front to back. There was never a point I felt like not listening and I was always so excited when a new episode dropped. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Richard Van Hulle

Choice made out of love not hate made me tear up.

Shannon

Thank you for everything this season! Looking forward to you returning with CoC and S3 - you guys are absolutely killer 🩷💖

lunniere

Okay, but did link and scary just renew their vows as adults because they got married as kiddos 😂

Jaiden Grey

lol hard agree 😂💛

Phoenix Vizva’i

Will , the most pizza puns you’ve ever STUFFED in 😭😭

AddiDaBadi

This season was just as amazing in different ways. I loved it all the way through. Yeah it had a clunky start, but you never lost me. It was always funny and emotional when I'm least expecting it. All the Teens did great, but Anthony did an amazing job this season. So much creativity, and fun. Love you guys, thank you for another amazing season.

Invader Jimm

Man this really gets into why I love ttrpgs in general and especially this show and dimension 20 they really lock into this feeling of long for collaborative storytelling. It brings out an entirely different and more natural story than anybody could possibly write intentionally

Broden Orr

I still bl any get over Matt “yes and” ing himself into a wife and kids

RavenEyed

The season 1 Finale was FABULOUS from the listener perspective. I loved it so so much. It might have felt clunky to the daddies, but I could never critique it

ShannyKrik

that’s perfect

jacey g.

omg omg

jacey g.

I deeply love this show. I do think this season took a little longer to get into. But I don't think that was Anthony's fault. I think it's harder for us to relate to teens, as adults. And I think it took a little bit of time for everyone to dial in their character, which is understandable. But the world building and the non player characters were as top notch as they've always been. This is an incredibly difficult way to write, and the challenge doesn't go unnoticed. Giving the characters the leeway to completely derail your story takes a LOT of courage. Letting them create their own victories and heartaches would sound impossible to me, had I not heard it happen. I think the most challenging thing for me this time, was learning to accept Scary. I was a big Ron fan, and he had a charm that was totally absent in Scary for the first half of this show. It was hard to listen to her go down the well of almost.. love bombing and abuse from Willy. It was very real, and I just wanted to yell at her. Which made listening more of a challenge than I ever felt in Season 1. Which is both good and bad. Conceptually, it was a great arc. But I really wasn't prepared to like HATE one of the characters. it makes the redemption all the sweeter. Yes. But getting there was hard. I think y'all present such a challenge to yourselves, playing new characters in each arc. Especially when the majority of the popular D&D series revolve around the same set of characters. It would be easy to rest on your laurels. But I see a real desire to grow in your craft from each one of you. To be better at improv, at voice acting, and at getting into the headspace of new characters as you progress. You should all be so insanely proud of yourselves. But especially you, Anthony. Especially you.

Cassie Muldrow

You guys are amazing ❤️

Imo Flores

I am SO GLAD you all are going back to CoC!

Richard Varela

GOD DAMMIT I WAS NOT PREPARED TO CRY DURING TEEN TALK. I love dndads so fucking much

Chris Winnek

Will is really good at making people cry it seems. I'm not sure if the crew will ever read this, but here goes: Anthony currently sits in the S-tier DM category for me. Up there with Brennan Lee Mulligan and Matt Mercer. His ability to yes and his players while being cognizant of when he needs to say no is impeccable. What's more, his ability to go "I had something planned, but this seems way cooler/more fun so let's explore that." and seamlessly integrate it into where he was guiding the story is amazing. I could tell that this season was a bit of a struggle for the players to figure out who they wanted their character to be by the end of it, but that felt wholly appropriate, and I think every single one the players grew by leaps and bounds in their acting abilities and improv abilities as a result.

Josh Cole

Thanks for another great season yall!!! This was such a wild fun ride.

Madi Persinger

Season 2 was such a great ride. Thank you guys for hours of content and laughs. That said, we get ONE YEAR OF CALL OF CTHULHU!? So excited for the horror!

Oh Lordii

I just want to say that legend of Korra was so much better then the original atla

Cain Morgan

Beth never misses with her closers. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

james carter

The upsetting part is I actually thought Beth’s joke was funny 😂

Cj Lane

Can't wait for the ska intro song.

Virgil McClurken

it definitely still does, you may need to disconnect and reconnect the rss feed

Alias Aivan

Anthony worrying that they're gonna destroy the livelihoods of their friends through their dm-ing is something that made me cry, because I can feel how much love he has for his friends there. There are about half a dozen content creators that I've "found again" over the years. People who wrote a webcomic I once read, or did an animation on Newgrounds, and I somehow found their new content without ever following them. One of those people is Freddie Wong. I was a fan of Rocket Jump during its early VFX days. I watched Video Game High School when it came out. One day, I just wanted to listen to a DnD podcast and was like "What the hell? That Freddie Wong?" But my point is that Freddie never stopped creating content that he was passionate about. Even if it's a drastically different medium than what he did on youtube, the distilled essence of what he's passionate about hasn't changed. The core of what drives my own creativity and interests hasn't changed either. Dungeons and Daddies can't last forever, but as long as any of you keep creating, your audience doesn't have to trail along to what comes next. They'll find you again. Whether it's through the script of a video game, or maybe Matt starts up a miniature painting business, it's going to be different from what you're doing now but it'll still find its way to us. I also reflect on everything outside the podcast that you've all worked on while this podcast was airing, and it's been a whole lot. Literally, whatever comes next, you'll be fine. Creative types are some of the most stubborn-ass and resilient people because no matter what happens, they are always like, "fuck this, I will go create art." My only hope is that season three will have less pee in it.

EV Lealock

Your point?

Michael Hughes

There are lots of actual Actual Play podcasts out there for you.

Harry French

My headcannon is that Linc and Scary’s kid Gerry is a nickname for Gerard, after Gerard Way

Righter

OMG April 12th is my birthday, that so dope I can’t believe it

christopher austin

Hearing Freddie talk about how he wants to take risks and you all take risks in your ideas and beats, it made me realize why I love this show. As a writer myself, I identify with you all and admire how funny and talented you all are. You all as writers inspire me to take risks and write what's fun not always what makes sense. Thank you

Randi and Christian

When will cries, we all cry.

Austin Robinson

After hearing Freddie describe their roleplaying style as a "writers room" I STRONGLY recommend next season moving away from D&D (and Hasbro). IMO, they should try a system like FATE, which is well known in the RPG community as being THE "writers room" RPG.

Daniel Puttmann

Top tier favorite podcast. Thank you so much for the hard work. I love being surprised by whatever wacky things you think up next. I'm here for the weird shit. 👌

Finch

First

Jack Newhard

As far as second seasons go, this really did live up to expectations and I'm definitely ready for some grandpa adventures ❤️🍉

Syahadah Ridzuan

Ok so two things Thanks you guys so much for giving us a amazing d&d podcast. I started listening when you guys were on season two episode 30 I was a little bit late to the hype train but once I listened to that first episode for season one I was immediately hooked! I can’t wait for season three! But secondly, thank you for creating something that really touches people, I don’t really have a relationship with my dad. We don’t talk that much. If we do talk, we usually argue, I never really had that son and father bonding moment or that son and father talks, so thanks. Thanks for kind of giving me something that i normally don’t experience! anyway keep it up guys! 🩵

Marco Merida

Anthony, you are genuinely one of the most talented and brilliant people I have ever listened to. Your wicked humor kept me going on days when I smiled for no other reason than this podcast. I hope you know how many of us truly love you and your work 🖤

Lily M.

I LOVE it when you all go through the music in detail and explain choices and how things are made, I’m so glad you had Maxton on again to go through it. I went back and listened again to the marching band version and now I’m dying at the whistle all over again. Thanks so much for such a great season!

Dani Chalus

I’m sure Anthony has planned for s3 but a season with the OG dads but they have to protect their wives instead would be great

Seth

Really want to say thanks for all the hard work you guys do, and for this season! I generally enjoy everything you guys make, and listening to you guys is such comfort for me. Excited to see what’s to come ❤️ You guys are the reason I’m on patreon!

Anneli Diana

So excited for Will’s season to start! :)))

Beck

I would love a compilation of all the intros. They are one of my favorite things this show does. Thank you all for continuing this amazing podcast. ♥️

Bex Hex

Anthony saying season 2 was their "Legend of Kora" absolutely hit me like a freight train. SO!!! DAMN!!! FUNNY!!!

Kael

Thanks so much for all the work y'all do! Loved this season!

Fawnrir

I'm calling it now, next season will be called Destiny.

Alexander Vazquez

I also want to say, the fact that they created a new genre that, apparently I can't explain very well, is insane. Love you guys. Love the fans. Thank you

withinmyself

The comments Freddy make about how season 1 changed during covid really hit me. I literally had this same conversation about 2 weeks ago. I'm collaborating with a drummer who lives in Portland and I'm in Missouri. We've played in a few bands together. Both of us are pretty good songwriters and he had this great idea for an album/band. He already recruited 2 others in Portland, and he asked me to come in on the project. I'm thinking, it's 2023, we have insane tech in music now, this will be fine. And don't get me wrong we've succeeded at a couple songs towards the project but through this insane struggle. And on the latest song, I broke. This is not working. So, I believe there is an actual energy we haven't discovered yet that humans emit.

withinmyself

One of my favorite things about Dungeons and Daddies is that y’all do whatever the opposite of fladerization is. Characters start with classic archetypes (Goth Girl who hates her parents, sports dad, school mascot kid, granola dad, anime kid, etc.) and we end up seeing all of that person. At the end of both seasons it hits me so hard cause it makes me rethink and regret all the Assumptions I’ve made about people over the years

Erethizon_dorsatum

This finale was so much fun and then it got me teared up. The end song was amazing!

Thomas C2

I gotta say as a relatively new listener, I just rocked both seasons back to back over maybe 4 months. But I think this season was way cooler as far as the dming went. The first season was great for the character improv, but this one really showed off the weird places that Anthony's brain could come up with and I really loved it. So much of it was dystopian and silly and awesome.

Graeme Kostich

Everything one did an amazing job! This season doesn't beat the first one for me but the story and characters and all the funny bits you collectively did were great. You have created something people can't wait to continue so be proud of that. This podcast rolls a 20 any day and I can't wait to listen to more of all of you.

Alexander Vazquez

I definitely liked s1 finale more because it felt way more like a DND way to conclude a campaign. Big battle lots of rolls, but the epilogue of this season was perfect. I had such a a rollercoaster of looking this season. First I loved the weird MoC idea that this podcast looked like it was shaping to be, but then that didn't feel like it was quite working out pacing wise, and then their was a bit of a rough transition to making it a more narrative linear story, but once they locked in to that story line I feel like it quickly got to its feet and started running. I do feel like they got even farther away from playing DND then they were in the first season but I don't think this podcast needs to be held to any specific RPGs. Just being a DM if there are rules you are supposedly playing by maybe you should try to use them... Anyways pumped for the break from Anthony DMing and always excited to see him get to play and Will DM. Fetch quest was awesome. I am already excited for season 3 now curious as to how goofy the senior citizen will turn out to be. All in all a great sophomore season for DnDads

Patrick Morris

Was that a sopranos finale cutoff?

Hareth Lopez-ortiz

I can't believe I forgot about that moment. Definitely one of the many peaks this season

Patrick Morris

Thanks for all work you guys do, I am on 15-20th listen of season 1. Can’t wait for season 3 and wills DM stuff 🥹

James Curtiss

Love you guys, your work is incredible!!

Eliza Duggan

😂

Patrick Morris

I agree with you on that. I really liked the finale of season one a lot more because it felt way more like DND, alot of dice rolls and mishaps and clutch rolls. I spent a lot of time this season yelling at my fone as they "interpret" things poorly with DND. So I think calling this a DND podcast sets a unrealistic expectation. Like I love listening to them and I'm excited about season 3 but let's stop lying to people about this being a DND podcast

Patrick Morris

It’s episode 29 I’m pretty sure or at least in that area of episodes

Ethan

I had an absolute blast listening this season. I don’t comment often but felt it was right this time. This season was entertaining in a different way from season 1 but had plenty of the same beats that make this show so amazing. The amount of work and care and passion yall put into it blows me away! Y’all can always make me laugh no matter how down I’m feeling.

TexasLeeds

A music idea for the 50s campaign. I always found the multitrack harmonies of Les Paul and Mary Ford to be kind of weird and unsettling, might be just the thing for that. Also gotta get like a metal guitarist to so some clean shredding Les Paul style haha

Racing for Tips

I'm very excited you see where you go with the next season. Can't wait.

Matthew Lemm

Need to do a intro like the Jonny test intro

So I realized how the daddies had the money to build D.A.D.D.I.E.S. HQ. Glenn canonically has Bitcoin from years ago that he never spent, not knowing what it was, making him the richest dad. I'm convinced that. My theory is that Bitcoin just kept blowing up and eventually he spent it many years later, making like a billion dollars, and building D.A.D.D.I.E.S HQ

This podcast means so much to me, and I want to give my absolute appreciation to the cast and crew for an amazing season! In particular, I want to thank Anthony for inspiring me and giving me the confidence to DM my own campaign (and getting me interested in wrestling.) I've experienced first-hand how much work goes into planning and executing each session, and it's absolutely insane how easy Anthony makes it look, especially when it comes to roleplaying, improv, and setting up the PCs to the play in the space and shine. Huge props to you for giving so much, it has not gone unseen. Sending ya'll much love!

Wolff Santos

I listen to a lot of DND podcasts and I have to say what Freddie said was right. I love the way Brennan lee Mulligan and Matt mercer DM, but there Is this thing about this group that makes it feel a lot more like you're listening to a group of friends. The fact that you barely respect the rules, that someone can tell another fuck you. It's reason I keep coming back to you and why I will probably never stop listening as long as you guys make content, because you genuinely fell like a place of comfort ? It's like seeing a group of friends in the bus that you can just tell love each other and it warms your heart

Justthingstbh

Season 2 was really good and Anthony is way too hard on himself. Yes, it is super different than season 1, but that doesnt mean that there's anything wrong with it. It was a great season with good characters and a story that may have been confused st first but found its stride quickly. Also, I'd like to see the Kids on Bikes system come back at some point in some way, even if its small

Kyle Oldham

thank you so much for this podcast :)

Lily Hughes

Just came here to say that even though I don't know you, I'm glad you're still here <3

Erica Keough

Thank you all so much for everything you do and put into this ridiculous and wonderful podcast. I loved all of the musical intros and was always excited between episodes for what in the world was going to happen next. I'm thrilled to see Anthony as more of a full time player and more of Will DMing!

Sara Crabtrey

Don't these knuckleheads remember that they themselves already had the idea of a marching band version of the theme song in one of the earliest Teen Talks of the season? I assumed it was just a really long game bit

Hampus Siöland

After the most recent episode, I feel like Dungeons and Daddies is a great improv comedy podcast with some light role playing elements that I really love, but calling it a Dungeons and Dragons podcast doesn’t seem accurate. The Daddies actively disliking D&D despite not really adhering to it this season wasn’t enjoyable as a listener (Banishment sends the target to a demiplane or their homeplane (I do not believe for a second that Willy's native plane is Heavon), Taylor having Fire Resistance in regards to Willy's Wall of Fire), etc. At a certain point, it felt like unconnected improv episodes that while each enjoyable on their own, didn't feel super cohesive or "Actual Play". I was actually excited for Anthony's initial monster of the week idea, it sounded neat! It seemed it would've given a structure to the campaign that felt lacking, but a different type from the first Campaign. Anthony's Korra comparison felt accurate. I am excited to see you go back to a system you've enjoyed for Will’s campaign though! I hope you keep doing stuff that brings you joy, and don’t feel like you have to play Dungeons and Dragons.

Michael Hughes

RPG game recommendation for folks wanting to play grandparents: I highly recommend Brindlewood Bay! It's like Golden Girls meets Murder She Wrote with spooky mystery/horror aspects.

the Dungeon Maxter

Thank you all for an amazing season! I appreciate you all opening up about the struggles you had during making it. I feel like your openess to experimenting gave us some of the craziest and funniest episodes of the podcast across both seasons.

Feline Goddess

I think the Korra comparison could not be more accurate. Imperfect? Yeah. Worth watching/listening to? I'd definitely say so. Good? Hell yeah! I'll be happy to see where y'all go from here, especially if you try out other systems. Or if 5e is still stuck with, you guys do a little more diving into the mechanics of it/learning the classes a little more. Overall I'm really glad you guys, especially Anthony, stuck with it to the end and really got wacky with it. Some of the crazy shit you guys pulled was so unique and fun

Evin Miller

Absolutely beautiful gang. Looking forward to S3, Dungeons and Grannies

Just Shannanigans

I love these shows because of how it grows. There may have been a plan but the ability to adjust and grow the show because of where your players go with the characters. Great work thank you for putting in the effort you all put forth

Creekie05

what episode is the see you again redux from?

William Speier

Matt saying he’s whatever about Welcome to the Black Parade and that Beth SANG IT BETTER is the most Matt fucking bullshit I’ve ever heard. I’m really glad Will told him to go fuck himself.

Alex

Oh -- Will's next thing sounds fun!

Gmork

This podcast is on of my favorites. They have been such a joy in my week to listen too. Sad to see this series come to an end but excited to see what the gang has in store. ❤️

Leah

I love this season so much. I love the fact that scary and Link at the end together was almost foreshadowed in the first episode when Link past the note. I can't wait see what next season brings. You guys are so talented. My favorite part of the podcast is sharing it with others because you sound like you are having genuine fun.

jen Rogue

You guys did a great job this season and we’re all very proud of you. Can’t wait to see what next season brings. 💙

Erica Keough

Love you all guys. I had the Best laughs and the scariests frightens and the weepiest sads with season 2. Thank you all for making this ❤️ Also why it ends halfway through Beth taking you out xd

Piotr Drobczyński

I think there was a missed opportunity to play that whole Dood bit at the end as them sneaking out to see their friends. Really enjoyed the show though and am excited for what's next.

Scott S

And then there are people like me who love Korras seasons just as much as Aang season, just like I love Odyssey and Legacy (?) both so fucking much xD

streetdreams

I think "On My Way" singlehandedly gave me the inspiration to do a "creating our own little light in the darkness" sort of theme for my next campaign that I DM. I love the song so much.

streetdreams

Anthony I want to admit something. I did fall off listening to the podcast for a bit, I never stopped my subscription. I could tell at the beginning where you were struggling but knew you were going to stick the landing. When I came back as a dm who consumes countless different dnd shows I was on awe of everything you did, like Freddy said with Miyazaki vs Masaaki you are misaaki and I was blown away I haven't listened to anything like this. I felt genuine love and stress and disappointment in a cocktail that felt alive! Thank you so much for creating a masterpiece this show has gotten me through the most difficult time in my life through abuse at home, hopelessness at my job. This brought me so much joy and I honestly think the fact there were rocky patches you had to work through made it even more perfect. Ps: when I was really low about to give up and do very regrettable things. I'd listen to the intro then re-listen to some of my favorite episodes. Obviously other things too like tried and true proffessional methods. This just helped me psyche myself up and also not feel alone.

PlutoniumHeart

lol love the Korra analogy. Deep deep respect and admiration for y’all as artists. Great show everyone. Congrats and excited for what’s next!

Bad Fiction

“you played the whistle” killed me

Umajesty Allah

Anthony saying' it's like being spooned by a room' made me spit out my coffee in a bus😅 I'm sad to hear that all those hateful comments affected Anthony so much. I mean it's easier to hate than start/make a podcast. I really loved this season. The musical element's, the energy you guys brought, many surprises. Me spitting out my coffee is not the first thing how I embarrassed myself while listening to the podcast in public. Looking forward to whatever you guys will do♥️🙏🏻

Fee the Fey Fairy

100% been inspired by Anthony to dm and create stories and worlds in my own way. Blands 2 is my favorite game thx for years of entertainment! Some people like Korra just as much as avatar!

Michael Iammarino

at no point did i know what direction this season was heading and it was honestly my favorite part about the season. anthony and the crew didn’t let themselves get pigeon holed with the success of season 1. truly such a feat. this season made me cackle to the point of concern and tears. anytime i had it playing whoever was in the room or car with me was instantly hooked. amazing job, guys. dungeons and daddies is so special to me. thank y’all for every bit of creativity and joy you pour into this podcast. so, so hyped to meet anthony as a player and will as a DM. full faith y’all are gonna kill it!

cin

I love this season and can’t wait for what y’all have come next!

Venomous 88

Did someone stock Beth or was that a joke? That’s wild

Thomas Jones

Will is a beautiful boy, so happy your love your friends

Thomas Jones

Matt saying Beth's Black Parade is better is so upsetting. I need a minute, lol.

Darryl Holiday II

Man, this season was fine. Don't sweat it Anthony. I enjoyed it a fuck ton. To me it was equally as good and emotional as the first and I can't wait for the next Anthony season as well as the Will one.

Darryl Holiday II

Yall are awesome. Thanks for making my favorite podcast! It’s been a blast watching the teens grow up. Also love the ship name goth cleats! 🖤⚽️

Beck Webster

Fuck the haters Anthony, y'all did great this season♥️

Jinxster99

Masaaki Yuasa

AED

Being honest, I enjoyed S1 more than S2. But in no way does that diminish the enjoyment I had experiencing the Teens and their journey. Genuinely hope Anthony is able to move forward without letting the negative commentary drag him down. The whole crew is such a joy to listen to, both when acting on the show and sharing their personal thoughts in the BTS episodes

Callum Laughlin

Please keep making everything y’all want to. Thank everybody who made this possible

Chrystopher Black

I’m going to miss On My Way. It’s on my list of music I put on when I need to pull myself out of a bad headspace and also makes me cry sometimes.

Sarah Gorman

I'm going to miss all these wacky characters, but I truly did love the journey everyone went on to get here ❤️. I can't wait to see where you guys take us next, especially in such a distinctly different (and one of my favorite) systems

Baijo

Just want to say thank you to all of you guys. I’ve been with y’all since the very beginning, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Natalie Simon

No, it’s named after Gerard Seinfeld, who is the horrid gene-splicing child between Gerard Way and Jerry Seinfeld created by the government.

Ace Hutson

Y’know, this last episode came out on my senior year, so I feel as though I should care a little more, but I don’t :3

Ace Hutson

I loved the theme song so much this season. I remember when I first heard it, I'd been SO attached to the first season, but the second season grew on me; I listened on YouTube and memorized all the lyrics. I always love acoustic finales because they're so much more raw and honest, so the marching band finale really took me back to childhood and my marching band days. I hated high school, but this show is so relatable, and it really is okay to look back on those memories. I'll be sad to say goodbye to this song. :( <3

Kaiddance

Thank you Anthony. I freaking loved this season. I had so many questions at the beginning but I feel like the story was cohesive and heartwarming. Thank you to everybody on the cast for the remarkable characters that you bring to life every week. It's going to be difficult to say goodbye to all of these characters, but I'm so glad that we met them all. Daddy magic, not the wrestling one forever (okay but wrestling is still cool don't at me).

StephBox

PLEASE DON'T STOP DOING MUSICAL INTROS! MR BRIGHT SIDE AND BLACK PARADE GO SO FREAKING HARD!!!

TheDerpySunflower

Yeah the metal gear solid intro made me laugh so hard to, it was probably one of my favorite intros from S2 for sure!

TwoJayZees

My Taylor theory is he took the rap for a scam his mom masterminded.

Gmork

So like Gerry is definitely named after Gerard Way right?

Austin Sharp

In order Scam Likey, Lark, Paden, Herme. Such well done NPCs. Seemed real people and easy to attach to. Anthony you are an incredible DM.

Elijah sublett

I'm not finished with the episode but I can't stop myself from saying Anthony, you've inspired me to be a DM. You're creativity, as well as the rest of the cast, give nothing but confidence going into the next season. You guys took a subject, teen dnd adventure, and blew it up into the most interesting ways it could of gone

Hayden Dover

To hell with the haters, Anthony. Possibly my favorite moment in the whole season is your amazing vocal cringe as you have to introduce the garlic knot heart coming out of the grief and tragedy of Terry’s death.

Jenna Papke

I personally like the more erratic vibe of S1, like it felt more like a d&d podcast while S2 felt more like an audiobook.

Ace Hutson

I want to acknowledge what Beth said at the end, I don't think I've grown up listening to this as much as I have grown with it. Listening to Season 1 dads and now season 2 teens, I've noticed quite a bit of comparison to the relationship with my own father. We didn't have a good relationship, and once I moved out, I was planning on not speaking to him at all. But noticing the teens act against or with their parents helped me more or less see through some of my own BS and through my father's BS and repair a lot of the damage done. Granted there's still damage of course, but not as much. So thank you for the brilliant writing from Anythony and the stupid hilarious shenanigans from the rest of the crew. I'm eagerly awaiting future products

WeSmilingMe

I think the story wasn't as emotionally impactful as S1, but it's a D&D podcast so it doesn't really have to be. I think the encounters were extremely interesting, Anthony set up an interesting world and they all made it extremely funny and interesting throughout S2. I'm glad the crew is handling the negative feedback well and is focused on the positives.

James Brannan

what was the second anime creator Freddie referenced?

James Brannan

The more Matt says something I aggressively don’t agree w the more I appreciate how hard he works at creating characters I’m obsessed with. Doesn’t like black parade smh. ALSO I still insist the post hermie death opener should’ve been see you again but literally just schmegans version no changes

maddo

god what an amazing journy. Sure it was a little rocky at the start but it didn't take long to get comfortable and become a great successor to the first. Can't wait for season 3 :)

Barf Drinker

The last episode came out in the week of my 18th birthday, I can confidently say that i grew up with theses characters. This season in specific connected with me in an extremely deep level, particularly Normal and Link, and it was everything it should have been and more. Amazing work to the entire crew, I love this podcast and I can't wait for season 3

Teo Joca Therrien

I genuinely loved season 2 so much. I only started listening about halfway through the run of season 2 and season 1 was sort of a struggle to really get attached to at the beginning but season 2s characters had so much heart and delivered so much hope and heartbreak and I'm still not ready for the season to be over because I'm so attached to the teens and am sad because we may never see them again. Also the season 2 theme song went so much harder than it needed to.

Susan DeStefanis

Such a fantastic season

Luke Schultz

Thank you all for putting all this work into season 2!!!

sven sven

Does the Spotify feed not get updated Teen Talks anymore? Mine stops in the 40s. I just moved over from Google Podcast (RIP)

EmptyPages

GDI Will making me cry on the train! I agree that all the work that Anthony and everyone in the crew did was amazing even when I seemed like it did not at times, the final product is amazing work. I can’t wait for the third!

Phorsi

I just laughed so hard remembering the Metal gear kegals intro

Ben!

Was an amazing season! It’s been a fantastic ride and let me just say, this was just as good as the first season! Just a piece of the puzzle to make it complete! Can’t wait for more!

BlankPapers

Thank you all for this wonderful season. Been a blast. Ya'll are amazing. Also as a MGS fan, I deeply, DEEPLY, appreiciate the nuances and fine details of those gags. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!!! You should all be super proud of yourselves!!!

Dugald Macdougall

So sad to hear Anthony wasn’t happy with the season’s feedback online. I love Anthony’s DM style and specifically how he allows his players’ silly ideas and decisions to shine & have meaning (even consequences, sometimes!)—so many DM’s are forcing things to ensure that certain story beats are hit and it never feels like that with Anthony. You guys don’t and can’t know how much joy you bring to your listeners! This podcast is amazing. I’m such a fan!!

Adina

hearing anthony talk about his mixed feelings on season two genuinely breaks my heart. the two seasons being compared is understandable but they are inherently different story telling types and i don’t think any of the cast should take any negativity about their differences as personal failings. both told incredible stories and had many memorable characters and mean a lot to your fans! thanks so much for sharing your art with us it’s amazing that you guys let us into your world!

siogosho

Ya’ll should be proud for trying some new and being brave in ya’ll creativity ♥️

JakeFrostick

Absolutely loved season 2 Can't wait for all the upcoming stuff

The Dragion

Korra is so underrated and the hardships she had and the fall out she was left with was so underrated and not spoken on so dang often! It’s such a power follow up and I said in my comment it took growing up to see it and honestly I’m so glad I didn’t have to with Daddies, they’ve done amazing I’m still so damn salty and sad about how it ended for Korra and how everyone treated her 😂

Shaheen Callahan

I loved this season, I loved season 1 in its own way but season 2 just was different and Freddy is right you can’t stay on the same track. I loved Anthony comparing it to Korra because I loved avatar as a kid and still do but it wasn’t till I grew up o realised how amazing and special Korra is in its own way and that’s exactly what you guys have done here I just didn’t have to wait/grow up to see it for its own unique special parts and I’m sure you’ll do with season 3. Beth I’m so sorry for the concussion it makes sense now how you could feel the remorse coming form Will thru my headphones 😂 You’ve all done amazing and and should be so proud of this season Anthony you did and continue to do so much leg work with the others to make sure it’s fun/not predictable and out there and it shows I also love that you guys are so dang open and honest. Parasocial relationship worries aside it’s honestly been mentally helpful to me as someone who had a very toxic parent this show is important. Amazing work 🫶🏻👏🏻

Shaheen Callahan

I'll be honest and say that at first i did not vibe with the 2nd season (like, reddit poster: does it get gud? stuff). it made me miss the first season. But after a while i got way and way more in it. I think people miss their comfy comedy like some people only rewatch the office. I have finished my 2nd listen of everything and it happend to be sync up with the end. And let me tell you, you guys killed it, i honestly think i like the 2nd season more than the 1st now. Thank you so much each and everyone of you, you made so many days of work for me so much more fun. And btw i already planted the seeds for the a fortnite and among us session in my dnd group as a DM, i already stole so much of your shit haha. thanks for the ideas! ;p

Thomas Koelewijn

I NEED A BETH MAY FRONTED PUNK BAND. GIMME THAT SHIT

Maladapted

Idc what anyone else says. Season 2 is fantastic, in fact part of me likes it better than S1. The absolute off the wall turns felt so natural, chaotic, and like a bunch of teenagers were playing. It was great. Anthony is fucking incredible

MK Lawrence

also literally discovering this show was the backbone of my mental health when I wasn’t leaving my bed or looking at screens - laughter was genuinely the best medicine (outside physio rehab and cbt 😇😇)

petra

my heart goes out to you and your concussion experience Beth!! I had a complicated concussion almost exactly a year ago & only just started getting back into ‘normal’ life this year !! so psa to everyone to take care of yourself !! look after your little heads properly !! You keep all the good stuff in there ❤️

petra

All of you did such amazing work! Thank you for the fun stories that throws the listener all over the emotional map! I look forward to everything you come up with next!!

Mandie Fitzgerald

Great season overall, more piss in the next one please

Devin Quinn

not the gothcleats acknowledgment omg

VictoriaFaye

Everyone was so vulnerable in this teen talk.. it was incredible. Thank you all for everything you have done for us! Every episode you can see how you all push yourselves to create something even better then the last and I really appreciate it ❤️ thank you for making me sob In my car. It was a good cry ☺️❤️

Otterly_Sleepy

Anthony, I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I sincerely hope you do: I LOVE The Legend of Korra. I may love Korra more than TLA. I’ve watched it more, I go back to it more, I draw it more. I will always love season 1 of Daddies. Being part of the shared pandemic experience, season 1 is woven into my DNA. But season 2 hits different in an even more personal way. With the dads I saw things I could relate to, with the teens I saw actual parts of myself, parts that I was proud of, parts that I wasn’t and that I have actively repressed. The characters, their world and the obstacles they faced - all of it was so vivid and I felt it so deeply. Whatever anyone else may have felt about it, you’ve got at least one fan that loved this season every step of the way.

Quito Ollero

S3 Mommy Madness Space age

Nathan

You guys honestly killed it this season! Iv been listening since last September and finally caught up literally the day before the last episode! Can't tell you how much this podcast means to me being a DND nerd and a father!

TwoJayZees

The Legend of Korra comparison is so funny because like Avatar and Korra I love both but do prefer Korra unlike the majority of people and I do prefer season 2 over 1. Both are amazing but I feel this season was so well done with the story and the teens growth and them breaking away from the expectations of their fathers. Thank you for season 2, loved it.

Mathew Staib

I can't believe they didn't forget about birdie and just decided to ignore her!?

JustAnotherRQ

Anthony stop reading comments challenge. I'm going to dump a lil bit, but I came back to this show because I watched my grandpa die a couple months ago and it caused a bunch of mental health stuff and I needed to laugh. I'm so insanely grateful that you folks love to tell stories. Any stories you tell, I'll continue to listen to.

Josie

Good season overall, less piss in the next one please

The Dude

Hearing a clocktower reference was literally wasn't even the last thing I would have ever thought id hear from you guy's

Leo Hall

This seriously has just made me feel attached even more to Norm. I feel that. Thank you guys for doing such a fantastic job

Nobi Wolff

What a fantastic second season, so many amazing ups and downs but all in all a wonderful season. Season one is still one of my favourite episodic podcasts I ever listen too. Season 2 was amazing though #pissboys Can't wait for season 3!

harry cox

That marching band ending warmed my heart! I was in color guard in high school and I honestly flashed back to being in field band with all my woodwind and brass friends.

Melanie

Hey Beth, just wanted to let you know that I think you've actually gotten funnier

Rafael

You guys should be proud of this accomplishment. The shitty parts and the good together make something more than the sum of its parts.

Austin Baker

Already started a second listen of this season. Looking forward to number 3!

ThesaurusRex757

Wasn’t ready for the end

Shallow Rivers

Still crying

Shallow Rivers

An amazing season!!! Loved your characters and loved the story!!!!
