CHUCK'S STILL SEVERELY BROKEN! - Better Call Saul 3x10-1

There is a reason why Jimmy kept Francesca for years, man did her demeanor change though towards Saul in B.B. 😜

Redemption

I'm fairly certain you're far enough to know this, but I feel like what happened to Chuck eventually was the result of him losing to Jimmy and here is my reasoning. Chuck is a narcissist and he thinks of himself as a good lawyer because of how much he knows. To have a criminal brother to look down on was frustrating, but it fed his superiority. He was the better person. Once Jimmy cleans up and gets a law degree, this threatens Chuck because at least according to the bar, they are equals. So Chuck had to keep Jimmy suppressed in order to claim that he is at least the better lawyer. This changes in court where Jimmy defeats Chuck and creates a court battle that was more about his malice than Jimmy's crimes. Now Chuck can no longer claim he is the better lawyer, but his cognitive dissonance could not handle that fact. So he overcompensates and does so by pretending to be better, but his behavior gets him kicked out of HHM. Knowing that he sucks and lost everything is something Chuck cannot handle. No amount of delusion or narcissism can shield him from that fact and this created a death spiral for his mental health. But here's the thing. Jimmy is the better lawyer. Chuck views the law as sacred and infallible whereas Jimmy understands that the law is imperfect and that this grey area provides Jimmy ways to use the law to his favor.
