The hairpins are kind of a way to claim someone, so basically today 3 people kind of laid claim to Maomao, the eunuch Jinshi, a mystery military man, and Consort Lihua who Maomao cured of her poisoning, that last one is particularly big, because it's pretty bold to claim another 1st rank consort's lady in waiting, it just shows you how much of a connection she feels to Maomao now. Little note about the party as well, it only takes place twice a year, and it's the only time non eunuch men are allowed into the consorts area. If I remember right buckwheat is what soba noodles is made from, it's an oddly common thing for her to be allergic to, I wonder if it holds any meaning. There's actually a figure based on the Maomao poison scene, and I'm tempted to get it.
