Curtis I think this is one of my favorite plot twists of the entire story! Egghead is from 900 years ago, so that means the future is actually the past! The One Piece world is a dystopia! That's Huge!! The giant robot and all of this technology existed 900 years ago with the original Joyboy. So then what happened to all of the lost history? Why is present not as advanced as the "future". They are all living in a Dystopian society. And what this could mean also the One Piece treasure is some futuristic item that is technically a relic!
