Amuro was among the earliest cases to really delve into the stress piloting mecha does. There was others prior, but Gundam tried to go further iin a war/miltary setting. In fact, Zambot 3, made by Gundam's creator explored it similarly, but as a more super robot series.

2024-02-20 19:01:53 +0000 UTCCURTIS IM SO EXCITED YOU FINALLY GOT TO AROUND TO THIS! This is very old school anime but there’s a reason the series has last almost 50 years. This was a show a decade ahead of its time and it showed back then. Even with how dated it may look now, nothing beats the story of the original mobile suit Gundam.
