Ia'Lwra possession of Gullet

Commission for Dave and short story written by yours truly.

It had been pissing down with rain in the fishing hamlet for days, to the point even the locals had begun to worry about their town being eaten away by the torrent. The clouds themselves had a sickening green tint to them that had set all the preachers in along the coast in a frenzy.
The strange leather of the book in his hands made his skin crawl in a way he could not quite explain and the face set into the design on the front did not help, but Dave would not be easily dissuaded.
The note left to him was cryptic and needed some deciphering but it boiled down to "seek the summoning ritual of the melded ancient and beast and to "leave the harlots at home"". He wasn't entirely sure on that last part, but he knew a guy who had access to all that witchcraft junk and he felt compelled to follow the instructions, he couldn't help but chalk it up to the reason he had not seen two of his favourite girls in over a week.

Days later he arrived at the portside town with the creepy lended book in hand. He did not stay in the town long, merely stopping in to ask for directions to the tallest point of the coastline, as it was dictated to him by the ritual. An hour later he was there, at the jagged cliff that was devoid of all visible plant and animal life save for a daring fishing trawler taking advantage of the lull in the weather. The rain cleared ominously as he cracked open the ancient book and began to flip through the dog eared pages to his book mark.

The air around Dave was heavy with anticipation like an invisible audience of souls lined the cliffside watching him with eager eyes as to what he did next. He pushed forward, reading down the ritual's translated steps and at the bottom of the page, the incantation.
Everything else was prepared, animals had been sacrificed, totems constructed and his own blood drawn. If everything the shaman had told him was correct, these steps would remain in place ready for him to enact the final step of the ritual wherever he was as long as the incantations were spoken along a coastline.

The man breathed in, and looked up once more, lightning arced across the green tinged skies and something massive was briefly illuminated amongst the glare of electricity and then was gone. He blinked in shock, but swallowed down any further apprehension, he was not a cautious man and wasn't going to start any time soon.

"bug ph-shugg, Ia'Lwra hai k'yarnak shugg, uaaah!" He bellowed into the wind.

Suddenly, as the rain, the wind cut off like a switch had been pulled and any doubts that he had said the words right quickly left him.
An amorphous form began to take shape as reflected by the moonlight and from staring at the immense shape he felt his brain throw up errors and his eyes tear and unfocus. He dropped the book in shock and the wind soon picked up once more and lifted his hat off his head.
It was them, Gullet and Ia'Lwra they had made a dark deal amongst themselves they lifted their conjoined arm to the sky and called down a bolt of lightning onto the fishing trawler, annihilating to such a degree that it may as well have been disintegration.
The god's hands plunged into the swell, plucking a whale right from beneath her, it thrashed wildly in her arms in a futile display. No doubt she intended to eat it after she was done with him.

"Dave" echoed two voices at once inside his mind.

"Dave. Your sentence has been decided. Lost in the maze of our guts. For eternity."

It was too late to run. He had nothing to prematurely end himself. But.... The cliff edge...
If only he hadn't bought all those adoptables...
