As for the original Joy Boy, he probably thought, 'Why make finding the One Piece simple, when you can make it a wild treasure hunt with ancient weapons and mysterious powers?' It's like he turned the whole thing into an elaborate pirate-themed escape room. Roger probably laughed because he realized he arrived too early to the party, like showing up in costume when it's not even Halloween yet. And Big Mom's clue in Wano? She's unknowingly playing the role of the cryptic NPC giving side quests. It's all a grand adventure where the One Piece isn't just a treasure, but the ultimate plot twist waiting at the end of a very long, very bizarre story!

Also my money is original joy boy did something ridiculous to the one piece, with his ridiculous powers, and they need current joyboy (luffy) to use or unleash it in some way. That's why roger and co laughed. Roger also said they were too early, maybe because joyboy hadn't returned yet, maybe because shiroshi (poseidon) hadn't yet either. OG Joyboy left that message for OG Poseidon, and in the manga big mom said a piece of the one piece is here in Wano, now we know pluton is there. The ancient weapons must be a part of, or at least heavily connected to, the one piece.
