What about plot?

This is one of those weeks where things are kinda quiet and there's not much tangible stuff to talk about. This weekend I tackled a lot of API related stuff to get ready for launch. A few security flaws to mop up, I added a role-based security system to all worlds (to support, for example, Admins, Editors, Players, Viewers, etc), I redesigned the way your world's content is indexed in the search engine, and also blacklisted every API endpoint and then went through each one implementing and double-checking security policies.

I coded for about 30 hours this weekend, so sorry if this post is scattered. My brain is pretty fried, haha. In case you didn't know already, I work full-time as a software engineer, and then come home to code away on LK! Weeknights are nice for mopping up small tasks, but full days on the weekend are where the magic really happens. I'm taking off all of next week, so I'll have about 9 full days of working on LK. Expect some exciting updates throughout next week.

Setting, Character, Plot

I think a lot about LegendKeeper's role in writing fiction. I believe it'll be a great tool for designing, managing, and sharing tabletop campaigns, but I've noticed that many people in the community plan to use it for stories and novels, as well. I think that's so exciting, and it always brings me to this thought: LegendKeeper is a natural fit for creating settings and characters. This much is obvious: maps and wikis are the de-facto standard for capturing details about spaces and things that occupy spaces

What about plot? All good stories have plot, but what features of LegendKeeper afford us greater power to craft those? You've got a few options: You could just not have plot elements in LK, but that's no fun. You could spread plot elements across wiki entries for places and things, which I suppose works, but then you don't have a central source where you can trace the progression of such a plot, and how do you handle multiple threads across time and space? You could use the custom category tree to create books, chapters, and scenes, and then write stories across those, @-mentioning wiki entries as needed, but that feels rigid to me. You might as well be using OneNote (and certainly nothing wrong with that; OneNote is POWERFUL.)

I think there's another workflow, one that plays to LegendKeeper's spirit of flexibility and convenience. That workflow is Roadmap Item #3: secret feature, and is the last flagship feature I'm developing before release (then it's on to the post-release flagship features LOL). I don't want to hype it up too much, as it's nothing super crazy, but I think it will feel good alongside the map and wiki. Only user-testing will confirm that, though. :) (And no, it's not timelines.)

Alright! That's enough musing from me! Any thoughts on writing plots in LegendKeeper? How do you do it in OneNote, Word, Obsidian Portal, WorldAnvil, etc.?
