december update (big news for me!)

starting next year april, i will be leaving my current fulltime job and focussing instead on game dev as my main source of income.
there are a lot of reasons behind it (one not minor one being my current company is pivoting towards nft/blockchain stuff & i want out...) but the main one is that i want to focus on making games & right now i put too much time into both game dev & my fulltime job, so this schedule isn't sustainable for me. i want to give being fully independent a try - if it doesn't work out, i will figure out what i want to do in the future, but i don't want to never try it at all.
your support here on patreon is a big factor in me feeling confident enough to at least attempt this, so thank you for being here with me on this journey!
in this vein i've added a new πΏ herb set tier @ 2 usd for people who just want to see the secret updates & get postcards from me.
i'd also love to hear from you all in comments or messages about what you'd like to see more of from me in the future too so i can keep it in mind π from april onwards since i will have more time to work on games i am hoping i will have more stuff to share with you!
now, for my usual monthly update stuff:
- i was planning on making a christmas game, but unexpected hurdles filled up the end of my november so i didn't have time to work on it. (instead i made my bitsy jazz game!) so for dec instead i'll be working on a less time-specific game - my plan is for it to be a gb studio game that uses the gb printer, but i am still working out the mechanics. i want to release it in january!
- i also want to update my old game marron helps a friend (https://npckc.itch.io/marron-helps-a-friend) to gb studio 3.0 - i'd like to expand more on this game world still but i made it originally in gb studio 1.0. 3.0 has a lot of new features (like differently sized sprites!) that i'd like to use, so i want to see if i can port the old game to 3.0 & then make more in the same world!
- also this depends on when it comes out but i'm still waiting for rpg maker unite... once it's out i'm going to make an rpg maker game in unity (probably going to first test it with lilac & her light to see how the system has changed &c.)
- a postcard as usual for all of you! it's going to be very holiday mood π

2022-12-05 06:07:31 +0000 UTCYESSSS!!! Huge news!!!! I hope the full-time game dev life will be as fruitful as it can be, once it starts!! 2023 sounds like a fricking cool as hell year already, pff. And with the new tier, my own biases say that Rutaboo should, in fact, be the highest support tier, but.... it's nice that he's here, period!!! And!!! Unfortunate that the Christmas game didn't work out, but still.... Bunny concept art... Excellent....!! Now we have more than a mere expressive bunny icon....!!! And, wednesday night was a nice experience, so. Still got something great in December regardless. The GB Printer game sounds interesting, though I dunno how accessible it'd be without an actual GB Printer pff. Still, sounds like a fun endeavor regardless of that. Hope its development goes smooth!!! And!!?!! More Marron Helps a Friend-adjacent stuff, maybe!!??! Exciting....!!! AND.... a new RPG Maker game?!!?!? Looking forward to it whenever the heck it's made in the far off future, pff. lilac & her light was fantastic, though who knows if the next one will be in a similar vein... But..... Walking simulators are just..... POWERFUL!!!! But!!! Yeah!!! Hopefully the future is fruitful with these oncoming changes in the months to come. Thank you for the update!!!
