so today marks four years since i released one night, hot springs... a lot of stuff has happened in four years. i started this patreon in 2019 (on march 3, apparently, so it'll be almost three years of patreon for me soon!).
your support here has helped me keep making games this whole time. it's still not honestly 'profitable' enough to be a job for me, but it's made enough that it's helped pay bills when i need the help and it's also just been mostly very fun. i like making stuff. i like making stuff that people like. it helps me to know that you are here because you like my games and want me to keep making them.
one night, hot springs is still one of my most popular games (the most popular on pc / consoles, but it loses out to A TAVERN FOR TEA on google play!) and it's one very dear to my heart. i'm happy to have had the opportunity to make two sequels for it and put them together in the remastered A YEAR OF SPRINGS.
my goal this year (which i think i mentioned in my post at the end of last year) is to make game dev more sustainable for myself. it's very cool to be able to look back four years at one night, hot springs and think, 'look at what i've made since then!' i'm hoping that in another four years i will be able to look back and think the same thing.
to put things in a more concrete perspective, i've updated my patreon goals to reflect minimum wage for half a month + a month. i'm also going to be trying some new things, like making paid versions of old free games with extra content (sort of like how i spruced up A YEAR OF SPRINGS), learning to use unity so that if i have the opportunity it'll be easier to port more of my games to console, just testing out making different kinds of games entirely... i hope you'll be here to encourage me as i figure things out!
announcement-wise, A YEAR OF SPRINGS now has a new thai translation so that's up on itch.io, google play and steam! (the patch for consoles is in the works, but it's going to be slow going.) also, the steam version now has trading cards & community items if that's your kind of thing.
i also made a newsletter as a better place to post news than twitter. there's a special wallpaper from A YEAR OF SPRINGS in the first issue if you want to check it out! -> https://www.getrevue.co/profile/npckc
anyway, this post got rather rambly but what i want to say is - thank you! knowing you are here supporting me because you enjoy my games (i hope!) reminds me that there are people who like to play the things i make and that encourages me to keep making them.
so thanks! for supporting me, and for being here with me on this happy 4th anniversary for one night, hot springs. i'll have a themed postcard out for you all tomorrow!
